For those of you with AUDIO issues, stuttering, missing audio, etc., someone had mentioned to change the SPU XFLOAT ACCURACY TO APPROXIMATE *should* fix it! **IF YOU CAN NOT FIND THE "CRASH FIX" OPTION UNDER GAME PATCHES, PLEASE ROLL BACK YOUR FIRMWARE WITHIN RPCS3 TO 4.90! FOR SOME REASON 4.91 BREAKS THIS OPTION AND YOU CAN NOT SELECT IT ANYMORE, SO STAY ON FIRMWARE 4.90 AND MAKE SURE YOUR GAME FILE IS V2.00!

@@jonsierra723 if i remember well, you have to search online for that firmware version on your PC, then put it on the USB drive, then install it on the ps3... there are tutorials around for that though
@@jonsierra723 you just need the firmware file and do the same like you did before will ask if you want to downgrade you just say yes and it uploads the new firmware

Damn, this solves my issues. Thx man. i5-9400F, 1660ti. Game crashes in first seconds of gameplay, but crash fix in imported patch really solve this problem. Only once game crash in menu. I haven't spent much time on tests, but i just glad that game don't froze any more. Note: do not update patches in the patch manager, it's removing the imported_patch which contains a crash fix checkbox.

dude thank you so much for this video. I added the patch but something with my settings must have kept crashing/freezing the game until i changed them to your settings. I also have a 4060 with an i5-13400f
it would also always crash right after i got the eye patch every time then or soon after because of the explosions i think
I had the same exact issues, it would always crash also right after the first cut scene. I compiled this video from various places and finally found a happy spot with the settings, glad it helped!

I did however run into a strange issue when battling Crying Wolf, when using the NV goggles, it will sometimes flash the whole screen white and you can't see. So I have to keep clicking in and out of the normal solid eye view and eventually it will stop.
Most everything else has been running perfectly, I'm almost up to the final chapter!
Nice so far my issue is after meeting Meryl the next cutscene where she suppose talk about nano machines just fades in a black screen that hangs there but doesn’t crash other then the audio cutting out a little it’s not that bad

Good morning, I wanted to thank you friend, thanks to the patch in the description, I was able to fix the game that was stuck, now I can play it quietly. I don't know where you got the patch, but it is very useful. If you could provide me with the page, I would greatly appreciate it. (I haven't given up looking for the patch and I got it. I'm curious which github is there to see all its updates.

This patch was my own, I guess you could say. I just followed other videos and copy/pasted what was needed to get the game running, along with renaming it properly. I watched alot of other videos and basically combined everything together made my own video for others to follow, hope that helps!

This is the one that finally worked for me. Only issue I've run into is that the audio will often cut out whenever Otacon tries to tell me something over the codec. Any fixes for this? I need to hear that little twink.
Not sure of any fixes for it, haven't had issues with the audio on my side. I will say though when playing in full screen mode, sniper rifles will not zoom in or out properly. Window mode it works just fine, so be aware when you reach certain bosses like Crying Wolf!
Check the wiki. Says a fix is to downgrade RPCS3
Idk if this works for anyone, but changing the spu xfloat accuracy to approximate fixed my audio issue.
Sound stutters a lot for me and fps drop. I have a Ryzen 3600X with a Rtx 2060 super. Should it run better or the drops below the 20s are expected?
I had a *few* dips into the 40's but the sound stutter is another issue. I believe there is a fix for it according to the rpcs3 wiki page.
I noticed you scratched off the ''important patches''. Are they still needed?
No that wasn't me, I think CZcams did that, I haven't seen any updates about it not being needed yet, so yes, still get it and put it into the patches folder within rpcs3.

hey, so for SOME reason. I can't get my audio in the game working, like certain sound effects are just, missing, like gunshots and other things. music comes through fine as does other background audio works but actual effects like footsteps, the APC engine and so on just is gone
From what I understand, the newest update of rpcs3 broke something in the game, might have to roll back the update.

Been playing this lately with zero performance issues at a solid 60 FPS. Only problems have been during the destroyed building sequence in the first chapter causing my screen to turn brownish-white (the dust overlay effect disabling transparency for some reason. Took my time and let the effect fade out before it got too thick and this seemed to help as I was finally able to get past it after about 5 tries) and then later on while following the Resistance member in Paris the game completely crashes randomly and I can't figure out why so I'm stuck there. This one seems to be related to the helicopter searchlights but I'm not sure.
Which version of rpcs3 are you running? I have an updated video linked in the description if you are trying to run it on the newest rpcs3.

do you think there is a way for me to run it at around 30 fps. i5660k 1660 3gb very shitty specs but i can run pcsx2 mgs3 almost max settings seems a little bit weird for the massive difference in performance.
It's entirely possible yes, rpcs3 from what I understand is more cpu intensive but if you keep resolution scaling down to minimum and turn off things like anisotropic filtering, etc. You *might* even be able to at least keep the game running at 45-60 fps.

Agreed, rpcs3 changed very rapidly over the last few months.
If your game isnt updated to version 2.0 u will have shitty fps. So updating it and using the latest firmware i.e 4.91 fixed it for me. Although even on a good rig like 4070 super with ryzen 7 7800 there are dips in fps but it gets 45 to 50 fps which is decent.
Agreed, it's not perfect but it is fully playable if all steps are taken properly.

Yes definitely. Some spots still dip a little here and there when alot is happening but with that setup, you will have no issues.

I did this but still didn't get any results does it have to do something with my graphic card?? It's 1030 Nvidia but i don't think you really need a high level graphic card to run the game still if you can help I'll be really grateful
Yes a higher level gpu would be recommended. That gpu doesn't have much vram and it's very old unfortunately.

When I got to select the firmware, it only has v2.00, with no crash fix option

Make sure you have a good rip of the game, install the patch from the description and make sure the appropriate boxes are checked off. Watch the video from start to finish.

so, when i press to play a new game it crashes right after the first cutscene, i have a ryzen 5 5600g + rtx 3060 12gb and 16gb of RAM, i saw a LOT of people having the same issue, but i couldnt find any solution, i followed everything step by step, the patches, the configuration, literally all, i tried another settings but the result is always the same, and i actually dont know what to do now
It's entirely possible that you need to use firmware 4.88 or 4.89? I'm trying to think of a solution because your pc can definitely handle it.

Unfortunately alot of sites have had to take the game down. Just gotta do a bit of searching for it via Google. If the legion runs on windows you should be able to download rpcs3 to it.

Have you updated the firmware in rpcs3? Not an emulator update, that's a separate thing from a firmware update.

Are you using v2.0 of MGS4? If not, the iso will freeze every time. It has to be v2.0.

I couldn't get it to work. Tried several different guides, with several different settings. Spent hours tweaking and researching. I got as far as the beginning tv cutscene after choosing the difficulty. But the game would crash at the following loading screen. I'll just wait for the ps5 port, this is unplayable.
Are you using MGS4 v2.0 iso file? It's the version that doesn't have the Metal Gear Online option on the main menu.
Did you put the crash fix patch in the correct folder?
Did you make sure to choose the correct version of firmware for rpcs3 and also install it properly? Many different factors come into play to make this work correctly.

Does it keep freezing after reloading the game? If you got that far, it shouldn't freeze do that.

I do have another issue though, this one in all the emulators (duckstation, pcsx2, rpcs3)
there is like lines appear in the screen especially when there is motion.
and VSync doesn't fix it. is there other option should I choose?

Why I cant change Driver Wake -Up Delay + VBlank Frequency ??
Because you need to right click on the MGS4 game file in the rpcs3 list, click create custom configuration then click advanced.
You cannot do a global change in rpcs3 of driver wake up delay from the main configuration menu.

@awq27 make sure you go back and watch the video and triple check all settings and also make sure your firmware is set to 4.90 and that the appropriate boxes are checked off under the game patches menu for MGS4 specifically.
Sad i can t pass the main menu each time i do new game and select the difficulty the game turn black, no crash but like an infinite loading

@2joffrey just a quick notice as well, I mentioned it to someone else but when you acquire any weapon that can zoom in with 1st person view, it would not zoom in, so the fight with crying wolf was a bit difficult, I was able to defeat her and finish the game, just wanted to give you a heads up. It could've been just me but idk for sure.
My controller doesn't work in the menu, do you have any idea why?
Make sure you specify and set it up before booting up the game, which controller are you using?

I've made sure the fireware is up to date, the emulator is up to date, I used the imported patch, used the settings, tried all three xfloat settings, nothing.@@blastprocessing1
I have patch 4.91 I can't play mgs4 do i need patch 4.90 my mgs ver is 2.01
Firmware has to be 4.90, otherwise you lose the ability to use the game crash fix option.

If it's a first time loading, depending on your pc specs, it can take awhile, it's a very large iso file.

hi, I followed your guide, I have a 12GB 3080 and 16GB of RAM, but after the videos that the game should start, it crashes without being able to do anything
Make sure your firmware on rpcs3 is on 4.90. Make sure the check box under game fixes is set to 4.90 and apply the crash fix file and that box is also checked off. Someone JUST fixed their game doing these small things. Firmware can be downloaded directly from Sony website.

@nivmizzet84 when you open mgs4 from the patch manager, click on NPUB31633 -ALL VERSIONS and check mark cellSpurs urgent commands hack - 4.90.
Then right under that click on NPUB31633 v2.00 and then check mark the Crash fix option. Sorry for the late response, I didn't see this comment.

PC Specs? Did you follow the video exactly to a T? Did you download the patch from the description? Did you put it in the right folder? Is MGS4 version 2.0? What firmware is your rpcs3?

@CalacaRoja maybe try to run the game at 1280x720? 2060 may not be able to handle the upscale 4k resolution. I'm really trying to think of anything else that may need tweaking. What about the lib file selection during the tutorial?

Not 100% on it. I do not own any Mac products, however rpcs3 has some LIMITED support for Mac M1. It says that rpcs3 can run simple 2d games as far as I can tell.

Under the patch manager menu, click on NPUB36133 - All versions, check mark the cellSpurs urgent commands hack - 4.90
Then click on NPUB31633 v2.00, check mark the Crash fix option. This will ONLY appear if you have the correct ISO file for MGS4.@@hdhd07222

I've heard that it's an issue with newer versions of rpcs3. You have to roll it back to fix the audio

I have been banging my head against this error all day and nothing I have found on google has been very helpful. Anyone got any ideas? It happens in every lengthy cut scene.

Make sure you enable the option (crash fix) under Game patches, have the xml patch (located in the description) put into the proper folder AND go back and triple check all settings that I showed in the video.
@@blastprocessing1 that’s where you lost me in your video because I do not have that option. I’ve downloaded the patch in the description and installed it. It also is a source of confusion because your video is showing me options that I do not have. I’m unclear If there’s another thing I’m supposed to download or what exactly is happening here.
