An automotive level Black 4.0 would be great for area behind grilles, vents, etc. Imagine an engine bay this color - it'd look like you dropped your 10mm into space!

It’d be neat to also paint some of the trim with Semple’s “whitest white” paint. Really lean into that cel shaded rendering error look.

The one I love is the intense, electric, International Klein Blue.
Just a thin line of that on either side.

They really need to come up with an auto paint/dip version of this. That color just tears a hole in reality.
It's illegal to paint cars in colors like this cause it prevents other cars from seeing you on the road

It wouldn’t be hot at all. Just look at it, the car is its own shadow. It’s as cool as being in the shade. 😂

It wouldn’t be hot… it has tinted windows.. stop it. That’s like saying a stock white civic gets hotter than a stock black civic on a hot day.

@@bodybong That's a bit disingenuous; yes BMW coated an X6 in Vanta Black. Is it a finish you can order? No. Is there more than the one? No. It was a one off concept to promote the new X6, that's it. Basically the same thing DipYourCar did on this Mustang and the Lancer. Until you can go to your local body shop and have this done with an actual automotive paint, or vinyl wrap, it doesn't really exist.
Would it be legal? I feel like it could cause confusion if other drivers see it on the road, and can't judge how far away it is or something.

This is ……BEYOND WORDS !!!! I have wanted to see this for months now. I love Stuart Semple and have used many of the products in the Culture Hustle lineup. When Stuart said that someone had used it on a CAR, I got SO excited! You did not disappoint! GREAT JOB🥰🙌🏼
If you use black 4.0 as a base and then LumiLor on top (in stripes or anything decorative), I think you'll have the ultimate winner. I'd die happily after seeing that!!!

Answers to your potential questions:
- Thins perfectly fine with water, just don't over-dilute.
- *No, it's definitely not durable enough to spray your car. That's not what it was made for. Do not spray your car in this.*
- The product can not be top coated or clear coated in any way.
- Applying it wet will make it smoother, but applying it dry/textured creates a far darker effect (shown at the end of the video). We sprayed it super dry to amplify the effect.
- Lighting plays a huge role with these Ultra Black paints. We mostly chose ideal and flattering lighting for the video, but the effect varies based on lighting and application.
- Contact the Culture Hustle Customer Service team for any project specific questions, this stuff is going to be awesome for art and creative work!
But COULD last long enough for a car show?
I'm interested to see how it bonds to cellulose fibres, like cotton, rayon, silk and hemp.
Can I paint myself with it and become invisible at night?

When I paint my Taco in Florescent Tangerine Neon Orange, I'm gonna use this on my hood, tailgate and all the trim pieces.
It won't last, it isn't made for automotive applications. : (

ok , so i bought some . Since you said don't use it with clear coat that's the first thing i did and it works fine , it is even soluble in urethane clear. applied as such it is darker than rattle can black. Brushed on , as is, it tends to be semi matt and too reflective compared to the sprayed finish which is very matt and black as advertized.
How is it holding up?
just did a test sample , will do my car when the weather wams , i don't expect a problem
Finally Vanta black has a competitor. You can't tell the difference between the two and that's saying something since they're not using nanotubes. Excellent work guys
Stuart Semple's been able to outdo Vantablack for ages because of Anish Kapoor.
Am I the only on that thinks it looks like black velvet? When you took it outside that thought immediately hit me. I love it. I bet it disappears at night when someone “blacks out”. Kinda scary.

I love that from sideways on, it looks like a cardboard cutout. It's a 5+ from me. Also, the samples you showed at the end look like you cut them out of the screen. Love it!
That first shot of the rear GT emblem just looked like a render on a back background until the camera panned over
My first thought when seeing it poured out of the bottle was, if it dries shiny, it would loose some of the “blackness” because of the reflections. Boy, was I wrong. This car could be used at night in a crime and nobody would be able to tell you what kind of car it was. I love it. 😊

the darkest black is called vanta black and is already used on luxury watches for example, like at moser&cie
When it was driving around outside I kept getting this feeling at the back of my mind that it reminded me of black velvet, but I couldn’t understand why… until the very end when you explained about the texture!!! I just need to sit and think about the implications of this for a while before any human interaction lmao

Can you please do a 3-part video? In the first 1/3rd, talk about this idea and show the base coat, the 2nd part after you spray the hypershift and the last section put a clear “clear coat”. Here’s the colors I’m looking at combining…
Base Coat: Kandy Killa Blue
Hypershift: The Mystic Cobra you guys did (I believe it was matte finish)
Clear coat over the top of it: For 2 reasons…1) To see what a clear over the top of the matte, to see if the hypershift still shifts as dramatically, and 2) To see if the Kandy Killa Blue base makes the blue in the Mystic Cobra really stand out…while retaining a fairly dramatic shift.

I would keep the car black and have a kick ass starfield pattern airbrushed on top of it, including the band of the Milky Way galaxy in the background and many different stars of various colors, but mostly white specks, all over it. Finish that off with some recognizable constellations, and you would not only have a cool car but a great art piece.
Absolutely insane! The car doesn't even look like it exists in our realm of reality with that color. Almost appears like it's a 3d model from a video game edited into the video. When a color like that plays mind tricks like that. It's the right color. The only thing darker than that would probably be a black hole "would be a killer alternate name"
I'm going with a 10 on this one. Automotive paint companies need to start on figuring out how to achieve this. I would love to have a car painted in this color for sure.
Maybe use it as a base layer with reflective stripes. Both for aesthetics and safety

We can't determine anything in this video. Whether it is inexperienced camera man, or camera was intentionally set to make the car look darker. I believe the latter, as if claim is true, there is no need for camera tricks.

Car looks CGI driving through the lot; I freakin love it. Would not mind paining my 1500 crew carb with this color! I know its not for cars but wonder how well it would hold up with a few layers of clear coat to protect it and if it would effect the rich color at all

Painting a Batman car would be funny because the character's whole thing is about stealth and concealment. Someone could also cosplay a Batman outfit as well. Those two together would be amazing to see.

If you sprayed a satin top with very fine silver flake mixed in would add lots of depth. It would look like you were driving in outer space. Great job!
The satin top coat would completely ruin the effect. They've already done a car in Musou Black (which looks just like this black) and they couldn't use a top coat over it. They had to spray the pearls suspended in some kind of thinner that would evaporate and just leave the pearls stuck to the black.

It looks like the car is covered in a black/deep deep purple velvet. It's absolutely gorgeous.
I'm a paint maker and have a dry pigment version of this (different brand) . It's intense. I had to sign a waiver to even purchase it due to the extreme staining potential, lol.

I have seen videos of this paint in other applications and was amazed by it. You have now put it on a Mustang and created my number one dream car. It looks like a scary shadow type thing, like a ghost kinda. I need this exact car. Let's say I won the lottery and I have a no limit budget. Could it be made to work on a car? I say if you're going to dream DREAM BIG!! 😁

That's just nuts! even more so than the Musso black you did a while ago, 5 out of 5 for me. Shame it's not good for auto paint, I'd have sprayed our old military landrover that colour, would have looked sooo cool! :)

Imagine a Car in this Black and then do the strips in Glow in the Dark paint. Or some cracy Decal in Glow in the Dark paint. Would look like the Glow Decal is floating in the air.

It almost looks like black velvet but the total lack of any shine is wild .
I use the Muso paint in my artwork, and it’s a very soft paint that releases Air Bubbles when you clear coat it with certain top coats like Epoxy Resin. I’ve never seen paint do this before. Maybe this new paint will be better to use

It works because the surface is rough.
Adding any kind of top coat fills in all the tiny crevices, and so will make it more reflective.
Black (2,3,or 4) are all water based acrylics, so are not hard-wearing.
is it resistant to rain and other weather conditions? it looks like the perfect color to lift the other colors up - the contrast ist just silly crazy amazing....i love this dark dark black ))
I can see this used as some interior work for amp racks , or other installation options inside the car

a huge difference between black 4.0 and black 3.0 is the viscosity. Well, and the blackness. I've painted with both and 4 is definitely easier to use. I still love 3 as well though
This black 4.0 is definitely the most beautiful black I’ve ever seen, definitely creates a totally void, I believe that any color that you add will look like it’s floating in the deepest part of space, absolutely a 5x5, but to be honest it needs a new ranking of its own

What would happen if you put clearcoat on top as if you were to a normal carpet job? I’m assuming it would take away from the effect a little bit, but if it was more of a Matt clearcoat I would love to see a small test!!
This is sick! It's like staring into the void.
Imagine car companies using this instead of camo wraps to hide the styling of new cars.
No joke; when I first saw the video it was on my phone, and I was straining to see even the slightest detail. When I put it on my 65 inch 4K television? Still could not see any detail. Just a slight blue shift from time to time, which, as another poster pointed out, is the only color that seems to reflect from this at all. This is the most literal definition of a “flat“ paint color I have ever seen.

I would like to see this super black Mustang alongside a matte black one and a normal black one at night on a well lit parking space. That way, you would have (or not habe) the reflexion of many lights. You could as well play with the lights: Position those three and a white one in a square on a dark place and let them illuminate each other with only their headlights. Or at daylight: Film them with a drone (or from a bridge) from right above!
