    Stunning bouquet, I just wanted to reference what you posted on Instagram that someone left only $3 after taking 2 bouquets. Massive shame on them, and that it's a reflection on their lack of morals and not a reflection on you. You're so talented and generous to share your flower skills with us all. I'm sure I speak for many people when I say I have learnt SO MUCH from you. With love from Europe :)

I'm so looking forward to spring here in New Zealand - so I too can pick the blooms in my garden (a work in progress). Well - hoping there will be blooms lol! I've sown enough packets of seeds and most have germinated.

    It would be nice if when you made bouquets or arrangements that you could list the plants and flowers in the description. That way we (speaking for myself) don’t have to search for what they were called or try to figure out how to spell things to research if they would be suitable for our areas. Cause I want them all!! Lol. You do such a great job! Thanks for everything!

    Gorgeous bouquet! I wanted to tell you I did what you mentioned in yr Hardy annual video & left my Snapdragons in place & can’t believe how strong they came back in my zone 5b! I would say they are even more floriferous than last year, strong stems & no flopping. I have Apple blossom as well though mine have more of a pinker lip, no yellow hints like yours. I added Madam butterfly Bronze this year next to them and they compliment very nicely. I wanted to to say thank you for that tip! 🙏 💗 💐

      This just made my day Mona!! Thank you so much for sharing this with everyone! It's so helpful to hear what works and doesn't work in other zones. Would you mind giving another update in the fall? I'm curious if the plants will wane at all. I stuck mine in the Island of Misfit Flowers which is being overtaken by weeds, so I'm afraid I will not be able to give an accurate fall update. Thank you!

    • @monawolfe
      @monawolfe Před 3 lety +1

      @@NorthlawnFlowerFarm Awe, sure thing! I have an entire, probably permanent bed devoted to snaps in full full sun. It has reseeded itself, plus I planted some seedlings in between just in case last year’s plants didn’t bloom, which they did & EARLIER than the others! Do you know of any other Hardy annual that do that? Bc I think last year’s growth produces stronger blooms bc of the size of the rootball. Like Dalmatian Foxglove which is blooming now but will probably bloom even better & earlier next year. We should all experiment with NOT pulling plants & just see what happens. 💗

    • @karenlopez5441
      @karenlopez5441 Před 3 lety +1

      Mona are the snaps you overwintered ones you planted last spring or last summer/fall? I’d like to try this. I have snaps that are blooming now but Costa seedlings I’m planting out soon for fall blooms. Wondering which I’d keep in the ground?

    • @monawolfe
      @monawolfe Před 3 lety +1

      @@karenlopez5441 I planted those Last Spring (2020). I’m not sure what type Costa is or if it will do that. I think it needs to be the “All season” variety which Apple-blossom is, but for example I don’t know if the Madam Butterfly Bronze which I planted next to them will overwinter. I’m going to leave them and will report back. All I did was to leave them in place, cut them back in late fall when they started looking really rough & scattered the seeds all over. Then in spring all I did was to WAIT to see if the “stumps” would start producing stems. They did, and I just left them, let them grow & composted around them.

I am growing strawflowers after hearing the ways in which you use them. A few of mine are budding up but they do not seem to open beyond one set of bracts. Is there a reason for this? They sure are pretty even though the process seems to have stopped. Have a great summer day!

    • @NorthlawnFlowerFarm
      @NorthlawnFlowerFarm  Před 3 lety

    • @NorthlawnFlowerFarm
      @NorthlawnFlowerFarm  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi friend! Quick dip is a hydration product that helps keep the flow of water moving up the stem. You can see me use it here - czcams.com/video/e3GiaDSBKHg/video.html All flowers should be conditioned before arranging, meaning that they sit in their original harvest buckets in a cool dark place for many hours before arranging.

  • @GengaKim
    @GengaKim Před 3 lety +1

    Absolutely beautiful! What do you do to condition them, It appeared all the flowers weren't conditioned in the same bucket. I know tulips and buttercups(??) should be separated for a bit, what other flowers should be separated? Also, is there anything you can spray bouquets with to get any bugs or nats off of them. Great job Danielle!!

    • @NorthlawnFlowerFarm
      @NorthlawnFlowerFarm  Před 3 lety +5

      Hi Kim! My apologies, this is probably a case of me doing too much editing. All the flowers were picked into two buckets the night before. They all sat in those buckets overnight. Hydrangea, cerinthe, and Dara benefit from a dip into quick dip. In the morning I pulled out almost all the ingredients and layed them in front of me. In terms of bugs, the biggest help I've experienced is to pick very early in the morning or in the late evening when the bugs are less active. I also sometimes wash the heads. Right now I have bed of Orlaya that the carpet beetles love. I have to dunk every head in water and swirl them around to dislodge them.
