Stunning arrangement, amazing visuals, although bringing a tear to my eye's watching them. I was born in Mixenden, but didn't grow up there. I had a drive through a few years ago, to find my old house and that of other relatives, which was rather nostalgic. To take sight of the area since my childhood, the changes and classes residing there. It was very much a community when I was a child, the jumples I remember vividly, banging on the window as an 8 year old, to get my Grandma's attention, hoping for for crisps and juice, and a few quid, taking advantage of her intoxicated state.
It seems a million miles away from the life I live today, but my routes have never been forgotten, and the people whom made me the man I am today, will most certainly never be forgotten, some here some not.

Superb video, amazing how Mixenden used to look before all the council estates were built.

Lovely, thanks. The Stone Chair was my parents local. I was born in 1948 and went to Trinity Secondary school at Illingworth, do you have any photos of that?

excellent video, im hoping you can help with this puzzle ,directly behind long house road in mixenden there is a woodland , ive walked thru it for years but recently ive came across small clues have lead me to believe there must off been a mill or something thereat once time but i cant find any info at all about the woodland let alone its history ,

That was the Mansion where the mill owner lived It was called both Cedar Grove and Seed Hill Grove, depending on the date. The name change occurred about the turn of the century and the house didn't survive much longer than that.
I run a facebook page called History of Mixenden if you go on it and look at the photo albums you will find photos and info on this place Danny

@@TheYorkshireExplorer I live in one of the stone built cottages on Seed Hill Terrace, years ago an old guy who was born in 1920 told me that the Mansion in the wood was demolished when he was ten years old, so that would have been in 1930. He said it was demolished due to underground erosion due to the many natural springs that run down to the Hebble Brook. I have one of the springs running under the cellar of my home, when we have heavy rain the water can rise above the cellars flagstones. There are lots of natural springs around the Mixenden area, that is why the reservoir was built here.
