That's great news! My hands are starting to get arthritis from driving everyday during the winter. Was thinking I would have to wreck my hands some more until I can't deal with it anymore and just bite the bullet and get a higher model. Can't really afford to buy another truck and would love to upgrade the steering wheel on my current truck instead. Honestly it's a work truck and does get damage here and there regardless of how careful I am. The last thing I want to do is to buy a nice truck just for the heated steering wheel. Where did you order from?

My 2017 had a heated wheel but no adaptive steering. Really, pretty simple to change this wheel out given the complexity of the wheel itself. Bet the customer will enjoy the fresh leather! Nice job.

Wow, I never knew the clockspring was fastened to the steering wheel on these Gen II Super Duty trucks. Looking at steering wheel just makes me shake my head at the complexity of it. What was once a part that simply had a horn in it, now has a million buttons, wiring and now an electric motor too, all for the sake of convenience and comfort.

There should be a timeout on the heated steering wheels and seats. Guys are forgetting about them, leaving them on, and next thing you know they're burned out and you're left with expensive repairs.

Thanks again ARod! Love your humor and detailed videos! I have a 17 with 104k miles and the heated wheel that just quit working 2 weeks ago. Watching your video brings me to a couple of questions about disconnecting and reconnecting the airbag? I had done this once previously with an 08, removing both front airbags, and successfully accomplished it without discharge (except maybe my undies got some streaks). Do you need to disconnect the battery before unplugging the airbag or reconnecting it, I noticed your re-connection was not in the video...
Thank you again for your fine work!

Hey, love the vid. Wish it was for my issue to know what I need to do. Maybe you can point me in the right direction. 17 F250 Platinum, I'm getting an adaptive steering fault error on the display and adaptive steering and lane keep vibration isnt working anymore. Plus the steering wheel is turn about 90 degrees to the right when driving straight down the road. Local 4x4 shop pulled the coded C1039-94 ( Active Front Steering Lock-Unexpected Operation). Hoping I dont have to replace the steering wheel. Whats you opinion?

@5:01 That wiring harness is the one used if installing a Secure Idle unit to allow the truck to run without keeping the keys in the ignition. Doesn’t work on push to start vehicles however.
I had to solder/splice like 6 wires into that tiny harness. PITA.

@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod You should check out their product, Secure Idle. Marketed for public safety and transportation. Pretty neat. Maybe something you could promote for some sponsorship or revenue.
I like keeping my truck running when I run into the store for two minutes but hate leaving my keys in the ignition. I hated even more taking my keys out then remote starting it a few seconds later. This eliminates all of that. I know they have push to start versions. On my model, the ignition harness is in the steering column (keyed start). Same location for the wiring harness as the one you are working on except the ignition wires aren't all the way into the steering column as they turn and connect to a push to start button.
