" தப்பெடுத்து அடிக்கையிலே தாண்டவக்கோனே" மிகச் சிறந்த ஒன்று. அதை படமாக்கிய விதம் ஒரு பாடலுக்குள் ஒரு கதையை வைத்து அது சொல்லும் சமூக அவலம் இறுதியாக... கடைசித் தமிழன் இருக்கும்வரை இந்த பறையின் ஓசை இருக்குமென்று முடித்திருப்பார். படம் பார்த்த அன்று இரவு தூங்க முடியாது உணர்வு. அது மிகச் சிறந்த / முக்கியமான படைப்பு.

தங்கர், நீங்கள் நாவல்களில் ஆக்கம் செய்த படங்களில் என்றும் நான் ரசிப்பது, சொல்ல மறந்த கதை மற்றும் ஒன்பது ரூபாய் நோட்டு. வணிக உலகில் குடும்ப உறவுகளின் நிலை மாற்றங்களை அதில் அழகாக பிரதிபலித்திருப்பீர். வாழ்த்துகள் உங்கள் பணிக்கு, தொடர்ந்து இது போன்ற குடும்ப சித்திரங்களை தீட்ட வேண்டும்.
Among Indian and Tamil film fraternity, most people just name-drop 'Citizen Kane' to appear knowledgeable but most of them don't like it, or probably haven't even watched it. Happy to know that Thangar Bachan actually made a film mostly consisting of deep focus shots. Shows that he was paying attention and was actually inspired by the films he discusses.
Welles had a simple point that the human eye saw everything at the same time, and deep-focus was the right way to shoot. This way, the audience is able to focus on different things that are on screen during our subsequent viewings and learn new things about the film itself. It was also useful to make a narrative point using visuals (like in the scene where he is selling off his newspaper).
Toland had experimented with deep focus in earlier films he had worked along with John Ford, and Renoir's 'Rules of the Game' also was shot in deep-focus. So were all of Welles' other films. But 'Citizen Kane' is the most famous example of this technique, for better or for worse.
I thought Thangar Bachan is a very serious person but he is really interesting.

ஒளி ஓவியக் கலைஞர் என்னப்பெயர் பெற்ற தங்கர் அவர்களின் படங்கள் மக்களின் வாழ்க்கையை எந்த மிகை, அலங்காரமும் இல்லாமல் வெளிப்படுத்திய விதம் அருமை எப்போது இவர் போன்ற கலைஞர்கள் ஒதுங்கி கொண்டார்களோ அப்போதே தமிழ் சினிமா வீழ்ச்சி ஆரம்பித்து விட்டது
இப்போது தமிழ் திரையில் வெரும் குப்பை கூட்டி வைத்து விற்பதும் மீண்டும் கலைத்து விட்டு அதே குப்பையை விற்கும் நிலை தான் உள்ளது

Bachan was talking about S Maruti Rao, the cinematographer of 'Andha Naal'. The film's cinematography is similar to the Hollywood noir films of the 1940s. Maruti Rao himself was not a Hollywood guy... Bachan just said his standard and style were similar to Hollywood of that time.
