  • Cleaned the instrument cluster, every little part, and guess what, it helped the fuel gauge to work, so didn't need a ned voltage regulator, god damn I'm happy!

The IPVR is a factory nuisance because when it goes, your gauges can still work but just be erratic. So, it’s hard to deduce. All it’s there for is the reduce 12v down to around 5v, if I recall correctly. But in most cases, it’s going to be the fuel tank sending unit. Corrosion is everything in old trucks. You would be amazed how cleaning can sometimes get things going.

How did you manage to actually pull out the cluster? I unscrewed the 8 screws and tried to pull it out but got hung up. Do you have to unscrew the speedo cable to pull it out? If so, how did you do it??? I couldn’t fit my hand in the gaps on the sides of the cluster 😖.

So yes, you have to tip the top down a bit, then move it towards you couple of inches, after that put your arm in back and unscrew the speedo cable, and then you can remove it. The easiest way is to slide it to the right when getting it completely out :)
