The lyrics for this song are based based on a rap song from the 1990's entitled '25 Lighters' by Lil' Keke and Fat Pat, who the members of ZZ Top met at a Houston recording studio, and the main guitar riff is based of Lightnin' Hopkins playing...so it hits at ZZ Top,s Houston roots.

when you get a few more ZZ Top songs reviewed, you really need to check out their documentary that covers the history of the band. There is some good ol fashioned jam sessions recorded in there that just highlight how 3 good ol boys from Texas who have remained friends for over 1/2 a century just love to play music together. In the 80s ZZ was famous for flamboyancy and hospitality. They would go out to eat after the show they had just performed, and usually pick a Mexican or Tex Mex restaurant. They would pay to close the place for a couple of hours and then pay for everyone's meals and drinks who were there when they arrived, turning the night into an instant party at that restaurant for all those who were there. They lived the lifestyle to every bit of the reputation but in the most joyful sharing way. 3 real rockers breathing soul into Rock in the most Texas Blues way.

ZZ Top is from Texas. In1989 DJ DMD (also from Texas) had a rap song called "25 Lighters". When ZZ Top's studio was being worked on they shared a recording house with a bunch of hip-hop artists. They got to be pretty good friends and ended up reworking the song. BTW, in Houston, dealers used to take Bic Lighters apart, remove the inside and fill them with crack. So yeah, this song is about slinging rocks. .........

    Hello Bisscute:
Another great reaction, this time to ZZ Top!!
First of all, four things I like about you, among many others:
    1. You are one of the few people who...LISTEN TO THE BASS, and you give it importance. I only know of one other reaction channel where they pay attention to the bass lines. There are many people, in general, who are not even able to distinguish it in the mix of a song.
    2. You know, just with gestural language, how to follow the rhythm of a hard rock or metal song. Going to a concert with you must be great.
    3. Your humility, which is evident, not only in what you say, but also in your facial expression.
    4. Your sympathy. It is more than evident and in all your videos I can't help but draw a smile in my face.
I'm sure many people have already told you this, and if many people say it.... it must be true.
Keep it up. Do not change!!
Ok, now start with the music:
I have been following you for some time but I have never written to you because I am quite shy, but after seeing some recent reactions of yours to songs in Spanish, I decided to write to you (and, although I am from Spain, those songs sung in Spanish are not my musical style) My favorites by far are hard rock and metal. And in that sense, and since you are very young, I want to recommend a song from 1985 (surely you were not even a little person project). I'll tell you a little:
    HEAR N' AID - "STARS"
The Hear n' Aid project was heavy metal's answer to such pop music charities like Band Aid and USA For Africa; projects which gathered various musicians throughout the recording industry to participate in making songs that would help raise money for famine relief efforts in Africa and around the world.
Hear n' Aid was formed in 1985 by Ronnie James Dio, a long time contributor to many charity projects over the years. Hear n' Aid didn't get much media coverage and didn't achieve the blockbuster sales like Band Aid or USA for Africa, but did generate a respectable amount of revenue.
Ronnie James Dio (Dio/Black Sabbath/Rainbow/Elf), Jimmy Bain (Dio/Rainbow) and Vivian Campbell (Dio/Def Leppard) were responsible for writing "Stars", the originally penned single that would help generate revenues for the hunger relief cause.
On May 20 and 21, 1985, Ronnie James Dio gathered more than 40 musicians from the hard rock/heavy metal world as Hear 'n Aid at A&M Records Studios and recorded "Stars." The song was arranged and produced by Dio himself.
Never before in the hard rock/heavy metal industry had such a project been put together for a well worthy cause.
What makes the song "Stars" such a gem are the various artists who contributed to the album and how each plays their part in the song both on the vocal level and instrumental level. The highlight for me is the chained guitar solos, broken down into 7 solos. The following is a list of all of the musicians that contributed to the project:
Tommy Aldridge (Ozzy Osbourne/Whitesnake), David Alford (Rough Cutt), Carmine Appice (King Kobra), Vinny Appice (Dio), Jimmy Bain (Dio), Frankie Banali (Quiet Riot), Eric Bloom (Blue Oyster Cult), Mick Brown (Dokken), Vivian Campbell (Dio), Carlos Cavazo (Quiet Riot), Amir Derakh (Rough Cutt), Ronnie James Dio (Dio), Don Dokken (Dokken), Kevin DuBrow (Quiet Riot), Brad Gillis (Night Ranger), Craig Goldy (Dio/Guiffria), Chris Hager (Rough Cutt), Rob Halford (Judas Priest), Chris Holmes (W.A.S.P.), Blackie Lawless (W.A.S.P.), George Lynch (Dokken), Yngwie Malmsteen, Mick Mars (Motley Crue), Dave Meniketti (Y & T), Dave Murray (Iron Maiden), Vince Neil (Motely Crue), Ted Nugent, Eddie Ojeda (Twisted Sister), Jeff Pilson (Dokken), Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser (Blue Oyster Cult), David St. Hubbins (Spinal Tap), Rudy Sarzo (Quiet Riot), Claude Schnell (Dio), Neal Schon (Journey), Paul Shortino (Rough Cutt), Derek Smalls (Spinal Tap), Adrian Smith (Iron Maiden), Mark Stein (Vanilla Fudge), Geoff Tate (Queensryche), Matt Thorr (Rough Cutt).
The following is a list of who sings as leads:
    Ronnie James Dio: From Dio
Dave Meniketti: From Y&T (Yesterday and Today)
    Rob Halford: From Judas Priest
    Kevin Dubrow: From Quiet Riot
Eric Bloom: From Blue Oyster Cult
    Paul Shortino: From Rough Cutt
    Geoff Tate: From Queensryche
    Don Dokken: From Dokken
    GUITAR SOLOS:
    - 1st solo in 4 parts: Craig Goldy/Eddie Ojeda/Craig Goldy/Eddie Ojeda (from the bands Giuffria/Twisted Sister)
    - 2nd solo in 3 parts: Vivian Campbell/Brad Gillis/Vivian Campbell (from the bands Dio/ Night Ranger)
    - 3rd solo in 3 parts: Neal Schon/George Lynch/Neal Schon (from the bands Journey/Dokken)
    - 4th solo in 3 parts: Yngwie Malmsteen/Vivian Campbell/ Yngwie Malmsteen (from the bands Yngwie Malmsteen/ Dio)
    - 5th solo in 4 parts: George Lynch/Carlos Cavazo/George Lynch/Carlos Cavazo (from the bands Dokken/Quiet Riot)
    - 6th solo in 2 parts: Brad Gillis, Craig Goldy (from the bands Night Ranger, Giuffria)
    - 7th solo (outro chained solos block): Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser (from the band Blue Oyster Cult)
All guitars (or rythm guitars) melody lines were played by Adrian Smith and Dave Murray (both from the band Iron Maiden)
    Bass: Jimmy Bain (from Dio)
    Drums: Vinny Appice (from Dio)
    Keyboards: Claude Schnell (from Dio)
This song has the great advantage that, by having numerous singers and guitarists, all of them all of them with very high level, it will allow you to decide if any of them deserve to be heard with their respective bands. This is the song that I always recommend to get started in the world of hard rock.
I hope that, if you decide to react to this recommendation, you like it as much as I do. And if you don't react in a video, I will understand, because you must receive thousands of suggestions, but I recommend that you listen to it even if it is just for you, in private. Believe me, you won't regret it. Furthermore, as you like, everything recorded in analogue and without the technical advances of today.
Make sure you get a correct link. My favorite is this one below:
    czcams.com/video/xl15Wj2MwUw/video.htmlsi=rvza6yPHdLXSzyRm
... although the list of lead guitars is divided incorrectly. Trust the list I have given you above cause I got an original vinyl and appears like that (and you can check it by watching the video)
That's all. WoW, If I write to you again I will try to be much shorter, as this seems like the complete works of Shakespeare...
    A greeting from Spain!!!
    🇪🇸 ❤️ 🇹🇩

This is a cover of a 1989 DJ DMD rap song called 25 Lighters. In those days, when you referred to a "lighter," you meant the body of a disposable Bic lighter filled with crack - that was a common way of concealing and transporting crack in those days. So if you've got 25 lighters on your dresser, you're probably a drug dealer.

First, RIP to Dusty Hill. Second, guitarist/singer Billy Gibbons' voice was always a little raspy, but as he's gotten older that sound has become more pronounced. He also has a pretty deep speaking voice, indicating that his vocal range is of the bass variety. He has to put a lot of effort into hitting some of the higher notes. We get spoiled by bass singers like Tim Foust and Geoff Castellucci who make hitting those notes look easy; the reality is that for most basses, it isn't.
ZZ Top is one of my favorite bands. Waitin' On the Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago would be a good one for you to react to. Blue Jean Blues would be, too.

Definitely go back and hit their earlier stuff, like La Grange, Jesus Just left Chicago, Tush, etc... They started as a pretty hard core blues band. Later they went sort of disco mode. It doesn't suck, but I just hate for people to think that this is what they really were.

Yeah, Eliminator was my introduction to ZZ Top, but exploring the 6 albums before that is just....damn. Tejas, Fandango, and Tres Hombres especially are just lights out. Unreal bluesy rock stank on those three.

First of many times I saw that Little Ole Band from Texas was in 1973 as they started their Tres Hombres tour. They opened for Erath, Wind and Fire and headliner Uriah Heep. We were unprepared for them bounding on stage and blasting out the heaviest Blues Rock this side of Led Zeppelin. Great show from all 3 bands, ZZ Top was the big surprise and was a fan for life after their set. There base sound never really changed through the years, just awesome from the start, their first record was killer right away and they have 100 great songs to listen to, they are that good and doing their thing for over 50 years now. Great song and video, they were amongst the best to do videos at the peak of MTVs music days. Try their live cover of Hey Joe, it is a Hendrix classic in the style of ZZ Top! Can't go wrong with this band, Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶

Hey Madalena, maybe you want to react to Dirkschneider & the old gang "Every heart is burning" with Udo Dirkschneider on lead vocals. He is a legend in german rock and metal and has a lot of gravel in his voice, you could say some dirt roads have less on them.
