    Ischgl's steepest slope: a gradient of up to 70% awaits you at slope 14a.
    Unlike some of the other steep pistes in Europe, the gradient is pretty consistent for 2km by which time you will have descended over 650 metres.
    It's the most challenging pisted run in Ischgl I had really good conditions in early January 2020. This was filmed on the GoPro hero 7 black in 4k 60fps. I added the speed dials using the GoPro app.
    Ischgl is one of my favourite mountains/resorts in the Alpes so I couldn't encourage you more to visit.

    • @davesmulders3931
      @davesmulders3931 Před 2 lety +25

      As someone who skied this slope many times (and even last week) I can confirm the most steep part is not the entrance of the slope, but the part after the narrow path (which is labelled 14c). 70% grade is exactly 35 degrees, so I am not sure what you are trying to say? All 70% grade pistes are 35 degrees.
      That is quite steep on ski's. The Harakiri in Mayrhofen is 78% or 38 degrees, which is not much steeper than this run. People that call 70% a red run obviously have no experience skiing whatsoever.

      @@Marchah Let's keep this discussion in English :) Wether a slope is icy changes every week. Mostly in March, most slopes are icy in the morning, and a bit soft from noon. Actually, currently due to high temperatures, intermediates and even beginners can safely ski most black runs.... they are so slushy that it's very easy to control your speed on them.
      Remember that a 78% slope isn't 78% all the way. The run in this video is actually very steep after the narrow path. It just doesn't show on camera.

    Keeping left at the top of the Palinkopf brings you onto the start of the 'Smuggler's Run', which takes you into the Samnaun Valley in Switzerland. It's a great place to stop for a rosti or beer. BTW, I had my brand new Stocklis stolen from a ski-rack outside the Ice Bar, which you passed at the bottom of the Hollencar at the end. The Ice Bar was usually an early-morning haunt for coffees, before it became inundated with posers flaunting all the latest gear and never skiing.

That is the steepest run of Ischgl, and... the best part is the steepest part is so narrow you cannot pass anyone. Seeing it's branded red, also novices go down that route, so better bring your a-game to avoid accidents.

    WOW... Amazing !!! Beautiful run. You went about 30 mph faster than I would want to. So, only 3 minutes to get down, but how long to get up there?

      He passes the lift station (C5 lift) around 2:47. This lift takes you up in a couple of minutes. To get there in the first place you take the lift C2 hollkär (from höllboden, restaurant at the end of the movie) and then ski the red slope down which holds to the right and gives you access to the lift up.

    Gut gemacht. Die Kopfbewegungen könnten etwas ruhiger sein. Dann ist das Bild auch ruhiger. Aber das muss man erst einmal hin bekommen . Ein großes Lob. Gruß Rainer

    Maybe other trails around there are that steep but FatMap topo map tells me 14A is only 30degree incline and 14C is 35 degrees. There's a short stretch in the middle where it's steep but it's just an average black diamond in North America.

      @amblincork Před 3 lety +1

      No !! We were all slow skiers at one stage so do not feel uncomfortable !! Going around a slow skier is very easy on those wide pistes so you wont be a problem for any decent skier !!!

      I depends on the conditions and the number of people on the slope.
      He clearly tried to wait for the other people to be far enough away before he started. 🤔
      There's no point in being reckless, just to go fast.
