The idea of precision medicine is both exciting and terrifying. The progress of science and medicine evolving to be personalized to each patient in my opinion, is ideal so we can provide the absolute best care. However, it worries me that in the wrong hands, this information could be detrimental. Who has access to this information? Is this protected by HIPAA law? How can we keep this information safe to be used exclusively to the better of our patients? I hope that this technology keeps being utilized to help patients like Emma. I commend Dr. Shekhar for sharing his experiences and how we can apply this technology to help as many patients as possible.
