I get major Doctor Doom vibes from Raul's portrayal of Bison and I mean that as a compliment. Like Doom, Bison really does believe that the world would be so much better if he were just in charge of it all, but he knows people will only realize that afterwards, and they'll never let go of their power without a fight. So he fights. And because of this he's branded a warlord, a dictator, a terrorist, etc.
It reminds me of a quote from Jamie Lannister: "When we've won the war, and people are living in the peaceful world we built, do you really think people will wring their hands over the way we built it?"
The best villains are the ones where you can see their point, and the more you think about it, the more convincing they start to sound.

As a kid of the 80s I first became of Raul Julia in the movie 'Presumed Innocent' when he played Harrison Ford's defense attorney. His presence just overshadowed Han Solo/Indiana Jones!
And I watched him over the years in so many other things until he became 'Gomez', and the world realized just how good he was.
Then when Van Damme was making 'Streetfighter', and they were putting the cast together and Raul reached out to JCVD and the director saying "Hey I want to be in your movie." I remember in an interview Van Damme telling him, "Raul, this is an over the top action movie, this isn't your kind of movie." And Raul told him that he was looking for something "fun" again after coming off of "The Burning Season" and "Down Came a Blackbird".

i hate people who don't get why the "for me it was tuesday" is great writing. it shows that to him the most memorable event for chun-li that defined her purpose in life was just an ordinary day for Bison.

I really hate how western Street Fighter media treats Zangief as a bad guy and a simpleton, but him holding back tears, saying "That was beautiful." is the best way this scene could end.

Raul Julia is absolutely amazing in this role and most of the reason why I love this movie so much. As epic as this speech is, and as great as Raul Julia's deliverance is, DJ's look at 1:20 gets me every time. 😅 That actor nailed his character beautifully as someone who was working for Bison simply because "he paid him a freaking fortune." Seriously underrated movie.

It was his last film role Streetfighter. But Down Came a Blackbird was his last Tv role but the movie was released a year later . When Street fighter was released posthumously after Raul Julia had passed away. So in a way Streetfighter was his last movie and last great performance he went out on top. He got the saturn award for his performance as bison and has become a legend so much so that anyone who becomes a live action version of Bison cant top him but can only be 2nd behind him at best.

Matthew Puckett Well, Feminism means “equal rights”, by definition, and that sounds like a good thing. But in practice, when urinals are now banned, it’s ridiculous and actually antithetical to the original cause. “Equality” sounds good on the surface, as well, but that’s not the same as “equity”. America has Equality, by law, but since the equity of outcome is different, terms and phrases like “white privilege” are made up to scapegoat the reality. Ignoring the core issue or cause of a problem will never solve anything.
