  • Atomstack A5 Pro Vs. Atomstack A5 Laser Engraver Comparison | Banggood Woodworking Tools Review
    Banggood.com sent me this Atomstack A5 Pro Laser Engraver to test and review. This is a great product for woodworker. One thing to note is, the advertisement says it's a 40W laser, but the actual output of the laser is 5.5W. The laser module is powered by laser diode, and therefore this laser is NOT powerful enough to mark/engrave bare metal. This laser is very suitable for woodworking and I'm extremely pleased with it! The maximum engraving area is 410mm x 400mm.

    I got the Atomstack A5 Pro and it is fantastic!!!!! It takes time but it cuts the 5mm plywood so nicely that it is amazing. It is a machine that REALLY CAN CUT. Don't believe that it cannot. Yes takes time that is for sure but it CAN cut it (with minimal conical degradation). But a closed box is a must!!! And ventilation to take the fume out!!! It gets very stinky soon. And air assist probably helps a lot as well... (did not try it yet) And you DO NEED LightBurn worth to buy it not expensive (and you will spend a lot more to plywood anyway :-) ) And if you want to cut elevating the cutted material is a MUST so do make a bed of nail or similar... It is not very quite the fan has noise (might be changed to a quieter one but the box helps with that as well... What it cannot cut is thicker material (2-3cm) not even foam!!! the degradation of the laserbeam does not allow it, it cuts down to 10-12mm than it just stops does not matter how many times the laser beam goes through... sooo it has it's limitation but again ... IT CAN CUT

      Hello! This machine does create quite an amount of smoke, and the smoke is definitely detectable by the eye and the nose. When I use this machine, I use a household fan to blow away the smoke if I leave my garage door open; or I get my dust collector hose running close to it if my garage door is closed. Please note that depending on the material, the smell can be unpleasant and might even be toxic.

      Hi Daniel, Thanks for your question. Unfortunately I have not dealt with machines for cutting. majority of my applicates are engraving. What I can tell you is that, machines that's powered by laser diodes will not be effective or efficient in cutting plywood. MDF is much denser and thus will have even harder time cutting using a laser diode machine. I'm no expert here but your best bet is searching for either a fiber laser or a CO2 laser for heavy duty cutting applications

    • @DingsWorkshop
      @DingsWorkshop  Před 3 lety +4

      The wood will burn if too much energy is applied at a single spot. I generally keep power setting to be 750 or less (in LaserGRBL). Another factor is the speed which your laser moves. If moving too slow then then more energy is applied to the spot, hence having higher chance of causing burning

    • @DingsWorkshop
      @DingsWorkshop  Před 2 lety

      你好!用激光机型切割的时候,烧焦部分取决于能量和速度两大要素。比如高能能量+低速度会导致木头的一个区域承受很大的能量,从而导致更容易有烧焦的部分。但如果高能量+高速度的话,有可能需要过几次才能够完成切割。

    • @DingsWorkshop
      @DingsWorkshop  Před 2 lety

      Hello! First of all I don't think the 10,000 hours is something you need to worry about...assuming you use the laser for 4 hours per week (which I think is a lot for a hobbist), you won't hit the 10,000 hour mark until after 48 years of usage lol. Now, assuming you're a professional who uses this laser on a daily basis of 8 hours per day to produce goods to sell, 10000 hour still gives you nearly 3.5 years. (although keep in mind that this laser is by no means well suited for professional/manufacturing work).
