- My STEC 3100 upgrade and avionics updates are finally complete! Great news is they work WAY BETTER than I thought possible. My buddy John (with the Cessna 340) came on the test flight with me and as ya'll can tell...he really approved of how it turned out. 1BC is finally ready for our west coast trip!! :)

Love the sound of those engines revving up as you start your takeoff roll!
I check for new vids every week. I hope you keep the channel going Kevin. I really like it when you and John fly together. It is a good training event for me to see 2 good pilots display good habits that make a mark on other pilots.
Love the video of you two, killing it in the 310. What an awesome avionics suite you have now, too. Hope to see more videos soon, especially of your upcoming trip you mentioned.
Great flight Kevin super informative with the new gear you have, you also have a good friend and pilot with you too many thanks Paul in the UK 🇬🇧
Kevin I hope you and your family are well and happy. 1BC was performing beautifully during this flight. You guys take care.
Lovely to be flying again around the Aurora area testing that smooth STEC3100 with you Kevin. I very much appreciate your videos and love the sound of those big sixes starting up. I hope Jaime and you are coping well with the ATC workload. Best wishes and a happy Easter to you both from me way down south in NZL, David
Nice video. You must have one of the nicest and best equipped 310s in the country. I hope you continue to make videos for our enjoyment. And please update us on future plans.
Hello from Minnesota!! Another great video!! As someone ready to upgrade to a 182 with autopilot and good avionics I love seeing you fly with that awesome panel! Happy Easter and hoping for the best for you and your Family!!
Kevin, great video. Impressive integration between your Garmin and Avidyne systems. Looking forward to watch your west coast flight. Mountain flying and high density altitudes will be challenging.
best looking paint scheme ever on a 310. Just love it.
Hi Guys! I am an old geezer and used to hand fly all this stuff. All analog. I really like your 310! Thanks for this post up!
I hope you guys keep it going flying with you so many times is so calming and has kept me comfy during my recovery
Billie Wood may I ask what your recovering from?
Highly impressive A-Pilot set up you have now. WOW!
Awesome update looking forward to the West Coast trip
310 will be back someday, I can feel it.
Hi Kevin the bird looks so good. On this flt she seemed solid as a rock. Been to long since seeing you. Good to see you again. I love riding along with you. I think I love 771 Bravo Charlie as much as you. Glad you're back
Great video. I had a 1969 T-310P, loved that plane, flew it for 10 years. Didn’t have any of the glass displays though.
I like the bug splatter on the external camera! Ah yes! Flying in the midwest! I was going to upgrade my avionics, but the costs are skyrocketing and the wait time is about six months.... With $6+ a gallon fuel, we probably won't be flying much anymore anyway.... Thanks for the great videos, Kevin!
Hi 310. Man I can't get tired of looking to that awesome paint scheme. It's really a must.
Happy landings from Portugal.
Great session. Thanks for capturing this one!
I look forward to your videos every week, and when you don't get to post I am lost. Lol keep up the great work.
Get real. Does not take much to get "you lost."
LOL
Ayeeee hope you’re having fun my friend!
Wonderful! Thanks for sharing.
C-310…THE most beautiful, elegant twin aircraft ever made! ❤️
Gracias por el vídeo, sois los mejores tú y familia, además, adoro el 310 😎
Gracias desde 🇪🇸
Thanks 310 pilot!
Nice! As always, excellent flight management, :)
We don't want you to stop making flying vlogs, but cost can be a big factor for everyone. God bless you and the family
Awesome Video ! I respect your privacy, however I hope we are in the loop when the time comes !
Glad to see you guys are getting out here in the West Coast, I'm in Washington State those California fires are ongoing. You should try to get over by Mount Rushmore in that area that country is beautiful.
I can see on your engine monitor that the EGT on one cylinder (RH ENG) is much higher than the others during climb. Could be a clogged injector or the faulty probe. Check the CHT of that cylinder on your next flight. Beautiful plane!
This is a terrific vid. THANKS. Very instructional even if one doesn't have the same config. Very well done.
Just do your thing brother.................your fan and friend always..
STEC makes excellent autopilots. Had one in a Baron I had.
Cool! Be sure KTOC is in the database, just incase…. Happy Easter!
1BC must be one of the best equipped 310's by now, great work Kevin. Thanks mate
Good luck with everything hope things get better.
Just see the amount of work on the house they started and how beautiful the kitchen came out...
Awesome video
Hey Kevin thanks for the video. Feeding the 1bc habit was kind of you.
My best to you, Jamie, kid's and family.
I've decided you guys are awaiting delivery of your new Diamond DA62. You needed to upgrade hangers to accomadate the longer wing span.
Hey, a guy can hope, right?
The DA-62 would be an awesome plane for Kevin and family, or, if he didn't mind single engine, the new DA-50. Personally, I'd prefer the DA-62, just for the redundancy of the second engine. Plus, the fuel burn at cruise would probably be less than half of what 1BC gave him for almost the same speed. If I was flying again, and had the money, a -42 or -62 would be in my hanger.
That's what I was thinking
Good video Kevin
Nice information on the updates, and the electronic checklists look like they'll be handy!
I'm sure John doesn't realize it, but he's developed a bad habit of not repeating back the runway number when talking with ATC or tower. When switching to tower, he'll say, "771BC on the RNAV", when he gets landing clearance, "1BC cleared to land". This may seem a little bit pedantic, but being explicit eliminates confusion and misunderstandings.
Hi John, 340 John here. Thanks for the good catch. Will incorporate that into my comms.
Nice lessons.
Great video! I can't believe people think they are entitled to any kind of explanation, what so ever! If you don't like it that they are not giving up any info, just quit watching. As for me, I will keep enjoying the videos as long as they keep them coming!!
In every video I've ever seen, Kevin appears to be intelligent, thoughtful and well-mannered; the stereotypical southern gentleman. No reason to believe he isn't grateful for the interest this channel generates, especially if the channel is monetized. I suspect he'd be more likely, not less, to provide feedback to the curious fanbase.
@@commentatron Kevin is a friend of mine and I can confirm he is one if the nicest people I have met in aviation. He and Jamie are great people.
@@JustPlaneSilly Glad to hear my intuition is working properly. By the way, love your channel!
@@commentatron thank you very much
@@JustPlaneSilly Really, a character reference from Brian (oops Bryan with a y)? Hmmm ;)
But seriously, unless I subscribe via Patreon (and there is an explicit promise of more information which is not the default position), I only have a right to enjoy the content that is made in the spirit intended. And then complain of course, cause you know, 'Merica and the bill of rights.
Love your videos, so enjoyable and a gorgeous plane. Don’t know if you know it for your info MS Flight sim and Milviz releasing the Cessna 310 today. Lots of sim pilots trying to emulate your flights now!!
Please, don't ever stop recording/sharing these videos, they are truly appreciated. . . .
LOOKS Fun
From Social Circle, GA - Love it when you and John are together. I assume you decided not to seeel 1BC?
Greetings from the Cayman Islands
Nice - digital check list...
I love you're videos man and I know you know you what you are doing. Not trying to sound like a know it all by no means but do you think AP being activated at 200 ft is a good idea? It wasn't long ago at all I watched a crash on here, unfortunately it was a fatal one but if I'm not mistaking, it was something to do with his AP failing.
Hello Kevin, good to see you on CZcams again. Is it true that you are flying out here on a western tour?
Very nice checkride. Now that you've added all these upgrades are you still going to sell? Have a great day and stay safe and keep your powder dry!
Safety pilot is a must...had one of my best friends killed in a midair with an aircraft on a test flight for avionics work. I'm convinced if the other guy had a safety pilot the mishap would never of happened.
Is your plane sold yet ?? Miss you guys for sure hope the healthy is good
Isn't there a lengthy preflight procedure for the 3100?
Will you be coming to Napa, CA KAPC? Thanks for the video!
Happy Easter from Sydney Australia.
I picked up 'on the missed approach' - "climb-cram-clean" not sure about the 'cram.'
Moreover, with the avionics mods- both Avidyne GPS units are now connected to the Garmin G5?
🤯🇦🇺
Cram is the reminder to push the throttles forward to takeoff power.
Hi John, 340 John here, it's just a quick reference I use during any missed approach, realistically, (Climb)it is pitch up, (cram) full power with props and mixtures forward, then (clean), in our planes, flaps and gear
My instrument instructor taught me: Pitch Up, Power Up, Clean Up, Press Nav (for the missed approach).
Flew right by my house.
How do you keep your GoPro going so long in the tail?
I hope you will reply to this message. I really enjoy your videos and really miss them. Are you going to make new videos? Do you still have the 310? I thought you had it for sale, but was hoping you and the misses would be replacing it. Maybe something that was pressurized. Please let your fans know what you are up to. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
It’s hard to believe this is a 50 year old plane!
Wow, I have been away too long! Who is the guy introducing the vid?
West coast swing? Where will your destinations be?
Kevin /Jamie have you ever thought about flying to Ireland in the 310
Kevin, must be kind of heart breaking to have invested all the time and effort into getting it all worked out, and then having to sell 1BC. I hope this video finds you and Jaime well, as well as the boys.
18:35 bug splat on the camera. Are bugs really that high up??
Did you sold the plane already?? Hope you will come back.
Let me know, didn't you sell the plane already?
First off... Kevin & Jamie, thanks for all the cool videos. They'll be missed if you don't come back at some point.
Now for the rant...
Some of you commenters are real beauties. I don't know exactly what is going on with them. However, I tend to think Kevin & Jamie have real lives with real jobs. Jobs that now require a bigger commitment. Jobs that pay the bills. Their flying vids are a side hustle.
How many cameras is Kevin running? Have YOU tried processing all of that video and tried to put it together? Do you really think he's getting rich doing all that work? What do you think his hourly take is? Like not nearly anything close to his real job.
Contrary to what your self-absorbed thoughts are telling you, they own you nothing. Get over yourselves!
Agreed. They owe us nothing, honestly, since we're not paying them. I love the channel, hate that they sold the 310, but their ATC workload has increased, and they seem to have a plan (think he said they can retire in 5-10 years). When that happens, I bet they move south, buy something awesome, then resume videos. Heck, he may keep active a little on here, flying with John in his 340 when time permits.
I like your arm tattoos. Are you going to eventually get the rest of your right arm tattooed to match your left arm? Nice twin engine airplane. Is your torso fully tattooed? How old is your airplane? Does it have A / C ?
I thought this 310 was getting sold?
Kevin specifically stated that he has tons of footage to edit and put out even after 1BC is gone.
This vid shot last summer....nothing that green kn the midwest yet
Where are you headed on the West Coast?
Boa Noite Donizete Braganca pt SP ✈✈✈ Brasil
Guess we will see similar avionics in the new King Air😀. We can call it a Queen Air for Jamie.
Ken, I guess you were trying to be funny, but Beechcraft actually DID have a Queen Air before the King Air. Actually, it was a basis for the King Air, although it used recip engines instead of turbines. The Queen Air has a production run of 17 years and would eventually evolve into what became known as the King Air 90. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beechcraft_Queen_Air
That type of A/C is getting pretty pricey for an ATC salary.
My flying days ended in the late ‘70’s due to health reasons. My FBO had a 310. The radar was out of order. For Nav it had two BOR’s. GPS was not born yet. Times have changed! I am very aware of the Queen Air, yes I was being humorous. I miss my flying days, so this is a great way to be apart of today’s world of aviation. Oh in terms of expense, a 172 was $25.00/hr, wet.
@@inquisitive980 I haven't flown as PIC since the early 80s. I only had/have a PPL. Used to fly a wet mid 60s 150 for $10 in our military flying club!
I apologize if I came off a bit stupid, sometimes it comes across that way, and I'm not trying to be.
I feel very much the same as you do, that's why channels like Kevin's, and a lot of others, are near and dear to me, I can get to go along with them, even though I don't leave my chair.
Is this just archive footage or did you decide to keep 1BC?
New to channel but editing was delayed from last summer.
Thought you were selling your plane and hanger.
Wow Notice to Airmen????? Sheesh!!!! Notice to Air Missions now and days, just messing. I know it just recently changed.
Just finished my Initial Ground School for Dispatch at RPA, so it’s all the “rage”.
Love the videos……
Got my certificate through RPA Dispatch Apprenticeship program via Jeppesen…..
It's been a minute for me, are you all still intent on selling? Glad to still see content from 1BC!!
I think they actually have sold
There WAS a video talking about it. But I can't find it.
@@ryanawilson8549 registry seems to still show Kevin as the owner unless they changed the tail number
@@unclefreddy2009 BrYan Turner, Just Plane Silly, elsewhere in the comments said the FAA is about 6 months behind on registry updates. 1BC was sold in December, IIRC.
I thought you guys were selling your plane 🤔. Just wondering
I thought yall were selling and taking a break?
we thought 771BC was for sale?
It was. It sold in December. These videos are from last summer
Still selling everything?
Hey Kevin how about an update on what you guys are up too? Hope all is well and we see you back in the air.
7:00 its called Flight Level Change :)
Watching that fuel indicator bouncing around was killing me lol
I thought he sold 1bc. And didn’t explain why.
Talk to us about updates to that fuel quantity system
i thought you folks was selling the 310
Allegedly sold in December. These are old videos.
Where on west coast are you coming to? I'm in Arlington Washington and we have a big fly-in / show... are you bye chance going to make that one day?
Doubt it, they sold the plane 🤷🏻♂️
These videos were shot last summer, 8-10 months ago. The West Coast swing is in the history books. As stated, 1BC has been sold, and Kevin does not have any airplane at the moment.
@@GaryMCurran Rumor is they split up. Don't know, just what I read. Who knows? They don't respond to their fans.
Y'all still thinking of selling 1BC? Goooooo DAWGS!
Allegedly sold in December. These are old videos
Rumor on some of these sites is they split up. Don't know. Just what a lot of people are saying.
So no offers to buy your plane yet? I'm really surprised it hasn't sold already😦
It sold in December. Word is, it takes several months for the FAA registry to show the new owner.
Don't you read any of the comments? This question has been answered 100 times already. Geez.
@@davidfrench5407 Thanks.
West coast, where are you guys headed?
Word to the wise: If you're going to ask about the sale of 771BC, or about trips, read through the other comments and responses to those comments. I guarantee it's already been asked.
Are you still selling the plane?
Sold back in December. These are old videos
west coast trip ? swing by San Diego /KCRQ and say Hi
These are old videos recorded before the announcement of selling the plane and hanger. They are both air traffic controllers. Their locations are terribly understaffed. They don't have time to fly currently and makes no sense to pay for a hanger and airplane just to keep it in storage. Personal life. Well, that's their business to share or not. Apparently they are not sharing as if it's any of our business anyway. I guess when you put yourself out their publically people expect more. I would never do it but they did choose to do so. And they choose not to share more than a short "goodbye for now" video. That's all I have.
Add the dimension of receiving money from CZcams to the calculus also.
@@commentatron That is a significant part of situation...don't begrudge them the income but not being upfront about it is something else...
I don’t understand what your rant is about. Stop trolling this channel.
He is on POA forum goes by Radar contact says they moved somewhere closer to work no internet rural acreage flying a buddies 340 once in awhile but they only have 4 days off a month not enough time. Probably a good idea so many people just leave good airplanes to rot away not fly them for years check out Jimmy's world YT channel. Rats make home in a 310 left outside for years. Never understood the idea leaving something to sit for years you know how it is like that RV, Boat, hotrod, and million other things people lose interest in sit for years. When have time again in life you can always buy it again.
