- Did we just find Group B heaven? Yes. Yes we did. The Group B era of the World Rally Championship was one of the most unique and greatest points of stage rally, and there are some people around the world - like our friend Enda Garvey - who enjoy collecting these insane machines. And lucky for us, he's generous enough to not only share his collection, but let us drive them as well. Best day ever.

Lancia Delta: Yes.
Nissan made a Supercharged/turbocharged K10 Micra/March back in the day. Only 108bhp but quicker than the clios of the day.

Nikolaos Mihalakis the supercharger takes its power from the crankshaft while the turbocharger takes its power from the exhaust gases from combustion
Spoke with Enda at Goodwood one year beside his T16 405. Gave me all his full attention and was so interesting to learn about the car, be shown round it etc. Class act.
He seems such a great guy, loves his cars and loves talking about them, genuine chap, would love to hear more about the history of each car.
Didn't even mention the Quattro in the back smh

I love my Fords.. probs a fanboy too, but the Quattro S1 is the group B car for me.. legendary beast!
Just makes me happy, great people appreciating a great (but sad) era of motorsport! Enda is so right difference between the average road car and these was pretty much the same as the Fiesta st and the Chiron, difference was then they were Savage and took skills!

Delta S4 was the latest car developed to have supercharged and turbocharged engine but the entire barn was amazing including that wider IMSA RS 200 (cream -brown).. Epic rally cars collection !
There was also another Subaru from Group A rally.

My brother owned a couple of Sega rally machines a couple of years ago in NZ.
He hasn't owned an rs200 haha
Try to find Red Victor 2, a street eliminator car which, with the nitrous on, produces 2,200 horsepower , and is street driven. 800 hp rally cars were banned because they were "too fast."

Fully agree.
It never won a rally, and even if it had arrived earlier in 1984-85, it would never have competed against the likes of Peugeot T16, or Delta S4s
The same could be said about the Metro 6R4, it was outclassed by the other cars.
@@peterlewis3540 It was always going to be difficult for any manufacturer to compete straight away with the other manufacturer who had been doing group b rallies for years, don't forget the Rs 200 was fords first group B car
and coming into group b at that time when all thous other manufacturer And teams had all those years of experience, would of been very difficult.
The rs 200 only ever raced group b for one year, the year after group b was banned, so to criticise a car that came late to the party and only raced for one year is a little bit harsh.
I am sure if group b had not been banned and given time the rs 200 would of come good in the end, don't forget Cosworth who made the engine had F1 experience and knew how to make a race winning package, their still the 3rd most successful f1 engine builders of all time today, and they haven't made a f1 engine since the 90's, Ford and cosworth are no dummies, they had the financial clout and technical know how to be competitive given the time, and the rs 200 is still a fantastic car, your comments about as daft as saying a new manufacturer in F1 could win the competition with their first car and their first attempt.
Just imagine how fast the rs 200 would of become, once the ford teams had gained the experience and developed the car further

Probably because he is too ignorant and uneducated to know what it is. I'm a Fiat Lancia fan but can still appreciate what the Quattro is. This was a world beater, a brilliantly designed four wheel drive first. Audi simply pulled out when Group B was abolished. Bet your block head Ken doesn't understand that.

Prolly cause he is with ford, he cant be associating with other car brands probably breaks his contract, if you watched cletus's video he had to cross out the MTN Dew Stickers because of ken driving his car and not being sponsored with them

A dark wet night watching group b was magical. The sound, the lights, the smell, whistle's, crackling exhaust, truly amazing. By 2021 we'll have gone from 800hp to rallying electric cars. At least some of us have our memories. Thank you.
It was that Audi Quattro in the back , that got me excited, as well as that S4.
The RS200 arrived just at the end of Group B, and it never won a rally.
The same with the Metro 6R4, which arrived a bit earlier in the Group B callender, but was totally outclassed by the Peugeots, and Lancias,
A tussle with the Quattro Sports and Delta S4s, that is what i most remember of the 1984/85 Lombard RAC rallies.
Rallying was never the same in 1987

I really enjoy watching these type of barn tour videos. Getting me stoked for summer sno drift this weekend. My son and I have been volunteers for ARA and RA for about 5 years now. We love it. A driver told me years ago, the best way to get into rallying is to volunteer. Miss seeing you at the winter sno drift. Hope you guys come back now that organization is getting squared away.
I am Spanish from Catalunya and had the pleasure to see those group B in action many times. Rally was crazy back then! We will usually stay the night before camping saving the best spots (unrestricted back then) and 1000's of people were populating the whole tracks... Insane the talent of those drivers! Even with the track full of people.

I believe the last WRCar McRae drove (in public) was an S12b Impreza at Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2007.

After years I still love watching this maybe because I'm cornish which is like Ireland to an extent but this video is always wholesome and features ken being in the presence of a delta s4
This is literally 15 minute from home for me. I really want to contact Enda and politely ask to have a look around these amazing machines. I'm a big WRC fan and own a few Celica GT-Fours, so we'd have plenty to talk about! Also Ken mentioned that they were going to dinner with Andrew Nesbitt who I used to work for.

Wow big ups to your sound guys on this one.. That beat matched the noise and rawness of the RS roar, and what a smooth way to cover up the wind noise! Im not an editor or anything so I wont be stealing the idea, but I appreciate the out of the box thinking instead of just plain old music over driving with soundbites of waste gates like other channels lol great cars, great scenery and prettly great weather to ;)

Cool to see these cars, I came up with the larger scoop and intercoolers back in 1991 on my car. It was then used in rallycross with great effect.

I'll never consider the fault to rest on the drivers, cars, or companies. I'll always squarely blame the "spectators" and "fans" who literally jumped in front of cars to touch them. The single most despicable thing i have ever seen in the history of rallying from so called "fans".
Were it up to me, i would've put those people in jail for attempted murder, because there's no other way to quantify it.
Oh Please. Without fans rallies don’t exist. They buy cars of brands what rally teams represents ..and They are your recovery teams. Only fans can roll your car back on wheels and only fans can get your car unstuck.. only rally fans can make you recover from ditch.. only rally fans can save you from drowning in the river or lake when your car landed. Direct reason of group B ban was accident on rally Corsica where Henri Toivonen ans .sergio .cresto in Lancia Delta S4 left road...fallen from Sloop ..branches of the trees ripped off umprotected alloy fuel tank under car floor and whole car burst in flames and crew was burned alive inside. Not a single one rally spectator was involved in accident. Not a single one saw it. B Group was a madness. Rally team didn’t give a fuck about safety of rally crews. FIA baned it.. next two years and rally cars had completly safe soft fuel tank „ bags” in armored box inside trunk. Cars have fire extenguishers inside what can be activated by single button. No more rally crews burned alive inside car. I am huge rally fan but entertinment is not worth lives of great drivers.

Awesome collection and kudos to Enda for taking them out and enjoying them. I was massively distracted by the Sega Rally in the background though! That might be even rarer than the cars these days.

Us irish have a rich heritage of road racing, which lives with us until this very day.
Whether it's on two wheels or four, we generally support road racing, and the north west 200 is a bucket list top ten for sure.

the RS200 has always been my favorite Group B car (and probably my favorite rally car of all time), but that RS200 IMSA car just may be the sexiest car i have ever seen. yowza.
