    WOW!!! And not one comment about the reliability of the Enclave. I'm on my third-- now an Avenir--have driven thousands of miles, serviced each car regularly and have never had a breakdown or a service call for repairs. Best automobile I have ever owned in my life time--PS I turn 80 this year and have had many, many new and used cars. If I'm still alive will get a new Avenir in a couple years.

    None are really that big a deal but I definitely agree your first three points. The steering wheel doesn’t bother me and I have no issues with the shifter - when I made my initial test drive the salesman was busy and just tossed me the key fob - found it quite intuitive actually. Overall great vehicle so far but with the level of bells and whistles there definitely are a few puzzlers mixed in.

    Ya. Good video. I just purchased a 2021 Buick Enclave Avenir AWD. I agree with all 5. And there is a 6th. My 2016 Buick Enclave had the ‘km till empty’ on the main screen. Now the 2021 has a separate screen. So now I don’t know how far I can go until empty… unless I switch screens!

  • @keeptheboomdown
    @keeptheboomdown Před 2 lety +1

    I'll add another, be careful when resting your hand on the shifter because you can accidentally drop it into park. I've definitely done this a few times at slower speeds; I'm hoping it's not a "feature" when above 25mph. Another issue I've found is when the car dies from battery or a fuel issue I've not figured out how to get it into neutral without electronics. The couple of tows we've gotten made my skin crawl because it had to be dragged off and on the flatbed to get to the shop/dealer.

    I just got one and love it. The shifter...once I was shown it I had no problem. The back seat well the only time it would be down is when we travel. Not a big deal there either. I do have to agree with the sun and moon roof. 👍 All in all.... I love it. ❤❤

    I have a 2019 Buick Enclave. I don't have the wood trim on the wheel, so that is good. They should have kept it all leather it seems. I had a bit of a time getting used to the shift, but now I love it. I have a hate also. You cannot put a hanging bar because they only have one badly placed hook. My Explorer had 4 and I had a hanging bar there. I do however love the automatic hatch opening button on my driver's door. All in all, some quirks and things I would change, but I like my car especially for my friends' and I's road trips. We are senior ladies and the Enclave has so much room.

    My moms 2014 buick enclave CXL has wood trim. Has 185k with no issues. Most heated steering wheels are designed this way. BMW has had the shifter design since 2008. The only annoyance I found were the sunroofs.

    @BOXFANBOYMETALBLADES Před 3 lety +2

    I have a 2018 premium. Every single thing you mentioned I can agree on besides the wood on the steering wheel as the premium doesn’t have. But the sun shades…. Well my front one is broken, it’s tearing off. Have to take it to the dealer. Thank god for warranty. This is my second enclave I do think the ride is a lot stiffer than my 2008 I had.

    • @RDMotoring
      @RDMotoring  Před 3 lety

      That's terrible! And the ride may be a lot stiffer. New cars prioritize handling which apparently means stiffer suspension... I have adaptive suspension on the Avenir which is actually very nice, but definitely not as floaty as it may have been 10 years ago

  • @KRTube75
    @KRTube75 Před 3 lety +5

    I agree with everything except for the following....The shifter is awesome! Love it. The wood on the steering wheel is also great. When you're turning, you just let your hand pivot on it. Also, over the years, the top side of a leather steering wheel gets pretty disgusting and degraded. The wood won't do that. Additionally, heated steering wheels are for wussies :)
    What about not having rain sensing wipers? It's just too expensive of a vehicle to not have rain sensing wipers.

    • @Dulitzlives
      @Dulitzlives Před 3 lety

      I hope that the rain sensor wiper feature is on the 2022 Buick Enclave! We will see.

    • @RDMotoring
      @RDMotoring  Před 3 lety

      My issue with the shifter is it's not intuitive. Everyone who drives it is instantly confused on how to put it in gear. As far as the steering wheel goes, yes leather will wear down but also the polish on my wood trim is already wearing off in spots. I'm not sure where you are but heated steering wheels are amazing in the northeast when it hits single digits in the winter. Wussy or not... I'll use it any chance I get 😂
      The lack of rain sensing wipers are a whole other issue... I wanted to highlight stuff the vehicle already had but I wasn't a fan of. I do agree with you though, this should 100% have them.

    We have a Premium, and I would have swore that the Avenir would have had power shades… I can’t believe they don’t. I don’t understand some of the little things GM does to save cost, that only results in disappointed owners. Like one touch window down and up for the driver… but only one touch down for the passenger??? And why do you have to hold the seat memory button until everything is done getting into position? Why not just hit the button, and it does it’s thing… just like every other car brand??? Why do I have to stand there holding a button while everything moves into place… I don’t get it.

    I’ll definitely agree with you on everything except for the Wood Steering Wheel, it’s one of my favourite features on the Enclave, there was actually more wood on the steering wheel on the previous generation, feels great on the hands outside of winter. On the 2022 models, Buick removed the wood on the steering wheel on the Avenir trim. As for the rear sunroof shade, this might sound funny, but Buick used to have the rear sunroof shade power operated with the switch on the overhead console, model years 2008 to 2010. GM removed that feature as a cost saving feature, very dumb in my opinion. The Honda Pilot and the Infinity QX60 both also have a twin panel sunroof, but their rear sunroofs have a power rear shade.

    • @RDMotoring

      A lot of people like the wood and that's 100% fine! I am not one of those people lol. And as far as not having a powered rear sunshade... it's almost unacceptable on this level of vehicle

    • @kireeekcms6484
      @kireeekcms6484 Před 3 lety

      @@RDMotoring I agree, the Enclave Avenir is the most expensive Buick. It doesn’t make any sense why they kept the rear sunroof shade manual. It should have been an option instead, or at least a standard feature in the Avenir trim. Even the panoramic sunroof of the new Buick Envision has a power shade. It’s such a shame. By the way I was so unhappy with the removal of the power shade for the rear sunroof on my 2014 Enclave. That I went to a junkyard, and I got an entire sunroof assembly from a 2008 Enclave, and now my rear sunroof has a power shade lol

    You’re thoughts on the power window shades are valid. However, it’s a GM divisional issue. Cadillac doesn’t want all the same creature comforts in a Buick Avenir yet charge another $5-10k more for a fully loaded XT5 that’s identical to a Buick Avenir.

    • @RDMotoring

      I understand, but when competitors are charging the same price and include said features... it's frustrating

    • @mjflit
      @mjflit Před 2 lety

      The Xt6 only tow 4000 pounds because it's the short wheelbase. So if you want a non stupid moonroof shade, you lose 10% towing capacity. For many that's not a big deal, but for me, it means my boat is beyond what the xt5 can tow.
      Palisade and Telluride don't have this issue, and are priced cheaper, with better materials. Atlas is a bit cheaper too, and same deal, has the full 5k pound tow rating and a smarter moonroof design.
      Honestly, that's my biggest turn off for these lambda platform vehicles. They should have fixed it by now, or at least for the 2022 MCE.

    I really like my 2019 Avenir, but it's not perfect and I agree with the annoyances. The sunshades are absolutely pathetic. There are other little annoyances too like there not being a light in the glove compartment, the fact that you have to press and then keep holding the seat memory button and wait while the seat moves into position, the lack of an auto stop/start defeat button, and some chintzy plastic and hardware that shouldn't be on a $60K vehicle.
    On the other hand, it has the most passenger and cargo space of any vehicle in it's class, it's very quiet, it handles very well, it has tons of tech and safety features, and it's dual-clutch AWD system which can transfer power to a single gripping wheel beats every other vechicle (except Acura which has a similar system). Every other vehicle pretends to have AWD but they can only send power to the wheels that are slipping. Unfortunately, the idiots at GM decided to remove this capability in the current generation Enclave and replace it with a standard AWD system, which isn't really AWD. The morons also removed the air ionizer.

    • @ugotmossed84
      @ugotmossed84 Před 3 lety

      @@d.porter3142 My wife is a foot shorter than me so I know exactly what you mean. Your Avenir has the perfect solution though. Do you have two fobs? If so, you can program each to a different driving position - we put on different colored keychains to differentiate the fobs - mine is blue, the wife’s is red. In addition, and this is the game changer, the third memory button is the “exit” button. Program that one with the seat all the way back/down and every time your wife (or you) pull the handle to exit after driving the seat will go to that position and remain there until you enter and hit the start button triggering your specific driving position automatically. Hope that helps - it works great.

    • @d.porter3142
      @d.porter3142 Před 3 lety

      @@ugotmossed84 Having two fobs is irrelevant and doesn't solve the problem. You still have to press and hold the seat button the entire time it moves back to my position after she's driven, or up to her position after I've driven. And the Enclave has the slowest seats of any vehicle I've ever been in.
      The exit position is also useless because my wife would then have to move the seat all the way up again to her position every time she was the last driver.
      The solution, which the GM morons failed to comprehend, is to initiate seat movement when the fob unlock button is pressed, make the memory button on the door a one-press function, and increase the speed of the seat mechanisms.

That was another worry we had but most cars this size have the same problem. Still love our Buick 😇

      It's not a bad vehicle but any means. I also agree some of my points are nit picky because that's what the video is, stuff that I personally didn't like.

      Good point. My 2021 Avenir. It’s pretty good. I don’t like the wooden steering wheel because my rings just scratched up on day four and I have fine jewelry don’t know what the hell that was about. Also who the hell put the channel changer close to the middle of the steering wheel it used to be on the wheel itself now I have to drag my hand off the wheel into the channel changer who the heck is testing these things that general motors? I know I could be dodging bullets in Afghanistan but for 60,000+ dollars this vehicle should not have any shortcomings whatsoever.

      It depends on the type of rack. You can use the hitch for some, if it goes on the roof then you need the roof rack cross bars

    Number one, it’s a GM product designed last 60,000 miles or less. I mean what do you expect for “American made car” that’s made in Korea and Mexico. $60,000? I would buy a used Toyota

    2015 Buick Enclave. Absolutely the worse "feature" of any vehicle I have ever owned: It is awful with regards to the volume levels for USB/Bluetooth sourced music. Compared to the radio frequencies (XM/FM/AM), those digital music sources need around an extra "12" on the volume dial just to get in the neighborhood of the radio channels. Pick wrong, and if you switch from digital to radio, prepare to have the vehicle's speakers (and your ears!) blown out.

      I’ve got a 2010 CXL. Bought new, 35200 miles on it now. Immaculate condition, garage kept. The HVAC actuators are beginning to fail. Hundreds of dollars to replace at dealers. Tried to fix myself but it’s way over my skill level. This is a common ailment for the brand. They installed them with no consideration of how difficult or expensive to replace. Will weigh heavily on my auto purchase choice.
