Excellent, unbiased review - thanks Dustin. I've had the PD carbon TT since it launched about 5 years ago, and it's still going strong. The Freewell is tempting with the quick deploying legs, but I wonder how well they will hold up after a year or two of use outside. I shoot stills only, so I would be interested to know if the fluid arm can be detached and left at home?
It doesn't really seem like the fluid arm is removable. I'm also interested in how the leg design holds up. I have both the PD carbon fiber and aluminum tripods, and they have held up really well.
Thank you, your reviews are superb! This tripod sounds interesting, unfortunately I can’t buy it in Europe at the moment….🤷♀
It should be available soon. They are just launching.
Many thanks. Great video on the Freewell Portable Travel Tripod. Very clear discriptions and very useful at the moment. I am deciding to purchase either the Freewell or the Benro Cyan Bird with FR20Pro Head. This is a similar tripod but the legs are probably more robust. Woild appreciate if you can give any advice at to which would be better for video?
Many thanks. James
Unfortunately I'm not familiar with the Benro option.
Very good review. I like all the features, but would prefer an all aluminum version.
Why is that? Carbon fiber is what helps keep that weight down.
@@DustinAbbottTWI I have seen carbon fiber trekking poles fail, and have read that once a crack is formed, a carbon fiber piece is prone to failure 🤷♂️
Interesting, but my first thought was that the head would be a little cumbersome. Centercolumn are also something I find useless, and have taken apart from my own tripods, due to stability. Due to the same stability, I never use the weakest/thinnest part of the legs. Just saying. ;-)
I understand what you're saying, though they are engineered for using all of the leg sections!
Hey again. Yeah, I understand that, and I know. Just a few tips to make it more stabel, especially in windy conditions. Thats all.@@DustinAbbottTWI
I am happy with Ulanzi
I use a Ulanzi regularly, but I do enjoy having the additional adjustment of the ball head, too. Less fiddling with the legs to get a level shot.

Wow the quick release plate / smartphone holder is a clever design!
It really is.
Excellent review, as usual. Not directly relevant to me, as I have the tripod that will be a photographic lifetime keeper.
Fair enough!
