- Hikaru Nakamura opened the game with 1.d4 and Wesley So went for the solid 1...d5 leading to the Queen's Gambit Declined! It seemed like a slow and steady battle, but all of a sudden Wesley So came up with some amazing moves to simply positionally outplay Hikaru! How did he do it? How did Wesley So manage to outplay such a strong opponent? Check out this game from the Tata Steel Chess India Rapid 2022 along with the commentary by IM Sagar Shah.

Wesley simply didn't want to catch glimpse of Hikaru's weird expressions. What a game... Loved it. And as always Sagar Shah rocks with his Tony Greig-like commentary in end game keeping audience on the edge of their seats.
We also don’t care much about your weird reaction to Hikaru’s weird expressions
weird hikaru fan
Weird stuff is what the person right to H3 has in his mouth. Any one know what it is? #weird#is#relative
2 pawn sacrifices during end game. Wesley got nerves of steel and stayed focus. Wow 🥰
This is not a game, just an art made by these two extremely talented creative artists.. ChessArt OP..👌👌
❤
@@MyOneFiftiethOfADollar According to Britannica Dictionary Art means "something that is created with imagination and skill and that is beautiful or that expresses important ideas or feelings".. This game shows how beautiful the chess imagination is.. How beautiful the chess skills are.. How two world class players express their ideas.. Hope you are getting my point..
@@MyOneFiftiethOfADollar This is basic communication style.. Here my definition "This is not a game" sentence has been used to portray something bigger than the game.. Just like "It is not water, in fact it is our life".. According to my understanding "art" word is perfectly used here.. But yes you can differ according to your understanding of "art".. As a single word can describe different expressions..
@@Not-You-Tuber “This is basic communication style” makes it OK to assert that the King of all games is NOT a game.
Your claim that art is bigger than chess just means that you like the nebulous notion of art as much as chess players like the concreteness and fairness of chess.
In your world most anything can be labeled as “art”. Even your handle NotCZcamsr shows how distorted your sense of language is as you freely use CZcams while claiming you don’t. No doubt very far to the left on political spectrum.
I am happy that art makes you happy
I farted.. pardon..
Love how you explain what is happening with every move. I learned alot while watching!
agree
9:12 why not white Pawn G3 G4 defending Rook and attacking F5 (that is pinned) 3 times! ...
Yeah this helps for sure
@@JohnKuhles1966 I think black can just ignore because you would win a pawn but then how do you prevent the passed pawn from queening?
Aw
Hikaru is the human embodiment of a twitch emote
Really fantastic game
Thx for the clarification. All this time had thought he was the Martian embodiment
😊😅😊😊
Got that Jack Nicholson grin to frown talent
GM Wesley So just keeps improving w/each new season. His positional judgement is becoming truly stunning. A future World Champion no doubt.
0:19 hikaru made face like he had constipation 😂😂
Or trying to do sigma male XD
I have been mistaken, thinking that So is a great player with solidity as his largest asset. Those pawn sacrifices have surprised me, now I estimate him to be even better than I thought he is.
Loved the commentary - great energy - and great game
GM So's speed games are beginning to look like Bobby Fischer's---his use of the full board w/a single pawn up vs the great USA GM Nakamura. A spectacular endgame sac victory by Wesley So! Great post!! Great commentary!!!
Man! Loved your analysis/explanations.
This is what i like Wesley, hes strong trap moves. sacrificing but it gives him chances on winning.
0:25 Hikaru trying to get feel of the environment 😂😂
That was so funny
Where is my queen moment 🤣🤣🤣
And bang!!! What was that noise?? 😂😂
Amazing game and amazing commentary!
Nice commentary..in my opinion,it's just like wesley is listening on you before he make a move..More Power!
such a great game. Thank you very much
wow what a finish
Ufff, que hermosura de juego...es todo.
That endgame was insane.
Hikaru expressions 🤣 😆 😂
I hate his face
Beautiful commentary.
15:03 black bishop AKA "Wesley Snipes"
Wow thats a genius move by wesley so
Cant believe we lost weasly so due to incompetence of our government.
“And let’s get it cracking” 😂 goated
GM Wesley So is America's No.1 chess champion & he's getting better & better! Wow what endgame play...
But He's A Filipino Migrating In USA Coz He's Not Supporting By Philippine Government That's Why USA Support Him . . .
Unbelievable pawn sacrifice of wesley so!
At 9.13 isn't pawn move from G3 to G4 a good move? Or it has some consequences which I have missed?
Wesley's 2 Balls, I mean Pawn Sac! Godly mode! Man have balls of steel to do that at end game vs Hikaru aka God of Blitz! 😅 nice game and as usual it's bec. of Sagar's commentary.
Hikaru's facial expressions. 🤣
Those sacrifices were unworldly. Wow!!!!
Hikaru plays like a machine, move like computer, expression like A.I. robot
Gets defeated like a human 😅
Excellent. The commentator appears to be almost the same strength as the competitors!
Very instructive regarding the value of the principle of two weaknesses and the virtue of patience
No he just needs to watch the game ahead of time then use stockfish to analyze
@@ChrisM-qo1jc he is gm bruhh he knows all the moves
@@helium69he's not gm
Commentary was goated
It's just a coincidence, but I loved it when Hikaru moved his king to the center black square, just accepting the defeat involuntarily 😅 (PS: For anyone who don't know, it's customary to place kings in that colored squares which won the game at the end of it.)
What a pawn sac, crazy endgame!
Wow the way Wesley broke through a seemingly impregnable fortress! Amazing.
Wesley ha jugado muy bien.
Sagar Shah is the best thing to happen to the game in recent years.
After the final check...if Kc3, attacking rook...rxf4 pawn attacking bishop while rook is hanging!! Rook can't slide over to protect the bishop from black pawn covering the square on f2!
0:26 Hikaru sees it's coming and the farts 😀
He wasnt checking around at with a minute left.......No more ego at the end!!!😂
Whoaahhhhh......Nice Wesley!!!!
After tenth step, that is fifth step of Wesley, how is Qa4 check and take on bishop in the nest step? Can anyone explain?
The commentator is very knowledgeable as well.
The best chess commentator on youtube. Strong player too.
Wesley so very good game play
Damn Wesley's good!
Awww... Wesley took off their marriage ring. No love for Hikaru? :(
Hikaru so distracted during the game too.
I was wondering about that, I even thought he was trying to do a mind game on Hikaru but probably not. But I was really thinking that it is a dangerous habit to take off his ring, one day he might forget to take it when he leabes the table.
@@Philson wym distracted 🤣
Wesley's King was on a drunk rampage
that wobbly table would drive my crazy!
At 15:00, instead of Rb3, I think Wesley could play Bc4, threatening checkmate with Rd3+#. Now, if :
1. Rd1 a1=M+
2. Rxa1 Rd3+#
But white has a defensive resources with Be4, then the ending will be the same. White will sacrifice his rook because the black e pawn can go through.
brilliant gameplay
Exact 90 moves!
Hikaru is the calmest man in the chess world
Interesting game
ANG GALING MO WESLEY SO
Always fun watching hikaru lose😂😂
@@MyOneFiftiethOfADollar biggest loser's are the strongest people
This is a mate not a resignation...
Brilliant chess and brilliant commentator!
4:25 is bishop to h3 a good move? newbie here..
Are these plastics tables? they moving up and down.
Sagar Shah rocks
Wow very nice
h3 was incredible!
A doubt:
when they hold hands (apart from a tie), how do we know who won and who lost?
Often if one player offers their hand first they're resigning. However, if they both sort of look at each other than shake hands it's almost always a draw agreement. No concrete rules in the way the hands are shaken, more of a tacit understanding that the position is a draw.
It's also obvious especially whenever Hikaru loses
When it's a draw, one person usually offers it. So you can look out for someone's lips moving if they're the one offering the draw. The opponent usually nods in this case.
If it's a resignation, the person who is losing will usually offer up their hand first.
Oftentimes the first player to offer a hand is resigning
Although this is just a formality
Every move is actually recorded,,so even if there's no handshake
It's always known who lost
Apart from body language showing the difference between giving up or agreement, it's mostly about the position. These high level players are aware of the state at all times, so if an offer is made in a losing position, it's understood as a resignation. Likewise, if the position is equal and the game is not progressing, it's clearly a draw.
Wesley plays like Karpov here!
Intense!
Love the accent and commentary
the risk of being so familiar with each other ...
So and Hikaru .
Play often for training
HIKARU SEEING THINGS THAT CANT BE SEEN BY ORDINARY HUMANS.. WHAT A LEGEND
3:27 Looks like that table is almost collapsing
0:20 Hikaru's remake of the "Yao Meme"
Sigma male face
King Walk
I would have been so tilted if I was hikaru
Proud cousin here from philippines
Best Wesley
HBO (back in the day)...had boxing commentators who...had nothing on this round/move by round/move guy! Somebody needs to hire this chessnut fool for future matches. This guy had me hanging on the freaking edge of the board and my seat! Yes, I'm embarrassed to say this.
Take note that these two players are of Asian origins 🤩.
Naunsa mana si nakamura na hiwe man nawong? Kalibangon na siya?
Why they both are not writing moves on some paper?
I demand to tata steel chess India....To let the commentator join the tournament...I guess he can win the championship😂
Wow...!
I wonder how much of that ending did Wesley see in advance?
Wesley So's cat is thé Best....❤
So I love this commentator
Everyone is first until they refresh
W so is amazing. He beated titan.
@ 9:17 can any one tell why dod hikaru not play pawn to G4
Wesley will just push a3. If hikaru plays gxf5, Wesley's king will just capture the rook. In case hikaru plays Bxf5, white will just capture it with his bishop. Then if hikaru captures with a pawn, same scenario as ive stated above. And if hikaru captures the bishop via a rook. Then, wesley will just push the pawn to a2. Even if hikaru didn't capture with a rook and decide to prevent the pawn from promoting. At the end, wesley still has a major advantage having two major pieces.
We want Hikaru Emoji 🤩😁
angas ng endgame ni wesley
Look at the face reaxtion of Hikaru, Hes so funny guys,,hahha, at the start, Hes one of the best GM Chess Pro,👍❤️🥰😅
Before queen exchange, why doesn’t white queen take out c6 pawn ?
I hate it when Hikaru losses he's such a good player man
0:25 lmao
14:33, Hikaru could have captured the pown with king. Right. Please explain me
Then black rook captures b pawn and would have an advantage in position - b column will be open for the black pawn to advance along with continuous checks from rook and bishop that would strengthen black's position with a possible mate in a couple of moves
Rook captures b4 pawn...king is in check so white can't capture black pawn A2 with rook
Woww
So like was king to c3 not a good response? He could’ve also taken his rook if bishop decided to take
9:18 hikaru missed a good move ig instead of rook h1 we can push pawn to g4 black will rook f6 then white king e5 then black rook can give check but we have f4 square for king so we can win a pawn basically
And about a3?
@@davidhaloho1447 i missed a3 can't push pawn a3 is queening then thanks for telling a3👍🏻
Ufff
howz that check mate he still have chances dont he
