    2000 miles? Oh my.
Love Inversions! Might be my favourite Culture novel. I'd love to hand it to someone who has no context of the wider series, and see what genre they'd think it was.
The best finds I ever found in a 2nd hand shop were a signed copy of Iain Banks' Complicity, and a UK hardcover of Guy Gavriel Kay's A Song for Arbonne, just a shame i don't like reading from hardcovers 😅. GGK is my current favourite Fantasy author, I've been binge-ing some of his books lately.
What a great find. I recently read Curse of the Mistwraith and really enjoyed it. Her writing is fantastic, but definitely a series that'll take me years to get through.
Haven't read Donaldson yet either. Maybe after I'm finished my re-read of Bakker's Second Apocalypse I'll check it out as my next philosophical Grimdark Fantasy series.

It was quite the road trip.
I am looking forward to reading more Iain M Banks and finally reading GGK.
I really want to fit some Donaldson in this year but I'm not sure I will have time. I'm still working on my Glen Cook project where I read his entire bibliography this year.
Bakker is on my list for this year as well. So I'm running out of room on my 2024 TBR.
      Thanks for watching!

You should do a video about your favorite baseball books. Not sure how much interest there would be, but I'd like to see it, and really that's all that matters to me!

I can do that. I will add it to my "video ideas list".

Sounds like you had a great vacation indeed, lol. A Song for Arbonne is a great starting place with GGK - when you finally get to him, you're going to want to read ALL his stuff, definitely. Thomas Covenant wasn't so bad, the MC is a scumbag and does some depraved stuff, but it's not without purpose - it makes an impact on the story in significant ways. Definitely worth the try. I like it because you have the traditional Big Bad Evil of Tolkien-flavored fantasy contrasted next to TC and you have to decide which one's worse, which can be tough.

I'm very excited to finally get to GGK and you have sold me on moving TC up my TBR(I still have no idea when I will finally start the series though 😅).

hey your channel has been fun to listen to. also been finding some interesting new books to look into from your book hauls.
out of curiosity but have you considered doing a whole book collection/book shelf tour? i know it might be a long video but i really love watching collection videos where people talk about all the interesting editions they own.

      Thanks for the kind words!
I have thought about doing it. It would have to be multiple videos. I think I own over a thousand books now 😅.

A hardcover of the Han Solo Trilogy would be amazing! Don't feel too bad about it though, I managed to get my hands on all 3 from HPB on clearance for $1-2 a piece in paperback.
I picked them up on a whim and was happy that I did!

The background on Saint Leibowitz and the Wild Horse Woman is a crazy. Miller sort of finished it, sent it to Terry Bisson to finish, then killed himself. Miller unfortunately had a very troubled life and struggled with depression. I haven't read it but I'm curious, maybe someday.

I read about that while I was researching the book. It is such a sad story. I hope it isn't as bad as everyone says.

I’m making notes of bookstores to visit when I travel and have added the source in Davenport, Iowa. You also mention Recycled Books. That a chain in Texas? Similar to Half-Priced books?

Recycled Books is an independent used book shop in Denton, Tx. It is also magnificent. They have thousands of vintage SF paperbacks.
