  • Join me as we explore a unique $5.2 million abandoned 1940s mansion atop a secluded hill in New England. I stumbled across the hidden gem during the height of the pandemic while searching for a different abandoned property. A search of public records and Google Satellite imagery revealed it was last occupied in 2013. Notable custom architectural features include several bedrooms, bathrooms, and a balcony overlooking a large family room. And one oddity was discovering a room with maps of the world scattered and covering the floor! Let's uncover the mysteries and secrets within this extraordinary abandoned mansion, a portal to a forgotten era.
What defines a mansion? According to ChatGPT, a mansion includes expansive grounds, unique historical and architectural significance, a larger dwelling space, and multiple (and often luxurious) amenities.

Interesting explore. Those small bathrooms has nice vintage tile and sinks. The master seemed a bit later. Gotta love a custom home with all its quirks. Thanks for sharing.

It certainly was an interesting discovery! My guess is there was one period of renovation but much of the interior is still original from the 1940s.

Thanks - I don’t explore houses much these days so I like when they have interesting layouts and architecture.

@@chrisluckhardt the bathroom definitely threw me for a loop, I get that It was the master bathroom but the other two bathrooms by comparison looked so below average for such an expensive house. And why would you want to store your clothing in such a humid room after a shower just on the other side of a wall ... Love the balcony overlooking the front door though that was really cool.

@@SilentNinjaJG Good points! The house felt like it was designed by someone with more money than logic. Many of those hallways, bathrooms, and stairs could've been improved with more width and overall space.

It was so crazy hot (30ºC/86ºF) and humid (97%) that day and it was during the peak of the pandemic. So I was glad to hide away in the house for a few hours from the weather and civilization!

It’s a shame no one took it over to renovate

It’s possible but I’m guessing the property will be redeveloped as a new subdivision. The current ownership is listed as living in a distant residential area and not a business so I’m not sure what’s next for the property.
