    Hi thought I was the only one person holding to old tech so far I'm happy with this machine & I'm still learning how to use it it been two yr now only thing is change is USB mini to USB C if possible. But getting into the device there the risk of cracking keyboard catch-22 that for very informative video I'm only sadden even with lenovo thinkpad x1 fold it didn't have to pen on paper feature for notes & drawing of this earlier advanced machine implementation brought forward onto current models

    Can you tell me what temperature I should set my heat gun on? Also, is the layout the same for the Android and Windows versions?

    • @diytech2001
      @diytech2001  Před 2 lety +5

      The layout is different. You should buy the appropriate model for your specific model. The heatgun should be set to max 200 degrees Celcius and slowly heat it up. A hairdryer should also be good. The most important thing is to heat it evenly arround the edges and be carefull not to insert the tool more than 5 mm. There are very sensible wires arround the edge.

    I have the exact same crack as yours and I was wandering/worrying if it is the battery that has swollen up. Did you drop yours, or what happened?

    • @diytech2001
      @diytech2001  Před rokem +1

      I dropped it... my battery has not yet swolen...but i am expecting that to happen. I try to not to deplete my battery and when i don't use it, i shut it down and then hold the power button for 10 sec to completly shut it down...otherwise it drains mai battery and it heats up (i have done all bios upgrades and stuff but still drains the battery). But this habbit has kept the battery going well so far.. I still get arround 4-6 hours on battery.

      Hi, i have not replaced my screen yet. I found replacement screen on Aliexpress. You should be able to replace the screen in a similar way as the keyboard. Be very careful when inserting spudger not to touch any cables and you should be ok. Here is a link of the display i found. Hope it helps. • @diytech2001
      @diytech2001  Před 3 lety

      Thank you! The best way to do it is with patience. I was "lucky" that my touchpad was broken and i did not care if it breaks further. That being said you need to be careful not to instert the spuge tool more than 5 mm. there are antenas and wires around the edge. Watch the video and pause were you can see connectors clearly and mark those places on your device and be careful around those areas. Good luck!

    • @diytech2001
      @diytech2001  Před 3 lety +1

      Also make sure the touchpad is heated enough that it comes of easily. I had to insist on some areas. I used 200-250 Celsius temperature, but i constantly moved the heater so that the surface does not overheat.

      I had no issue with my keyboard. The video cut was just because i switched position of the camera. Maybe you should double check the cable. It may not be fully inserted. Hope you can find the issue.

    • @diytech2001
      @diytech2001  Před 3 lety

      I found replacement LCDs and it should be possible to replace... but i don't know how. My guess is that it is the same procedure as for the keyboard. I also found complete LCD + case+ hinge assembly for it and this should be easier to replace, especially if the LCD case is bent, but in this case you have to disassemble the keyboard to have access to the hinge screws.

    • @diytech2001
      @diytech2001  Před 4 lety +2

      Faris Jayyousi I bought it on AliExpress. You need to know your model number (example: yb1-x91f) and if you have the windows or android version. The seller sent me the Canadian French version instead of English US but its not a big difference in layout and i am so glad it works again. Search for Lenovo Yogabook yb1-x91f ( or your model number) replacement Keyboard. Good luck!

      @@diytech2001 Thank you :) One more question: my Yoga Book is not charging anymore. I am sure that there is a problem with the battery (bad connection between the charger and the battery).
      Is there a way to fix this without opening my device? The charger and the cable are fine. Any help is appreciated !!

    • @diytech2001
      @diytech2001  Před 4 lety +1

      Faris Jayyousi Does it run with the charger connected? If not, your micro usb might be damaged. Either way you have to open the laptop to replace the usb or the battery. I do not have much experience repairing this laptop. I only replaced my keyboard because i dropped it on a rock by mistake. It is not difficult to open but you need to be carefull not to break any cable when you open it. If you are not confortable doing this you should take it to a laptop repair shop.

      For my laptop I bought a magnetic micro usb cable like on older macbook so that i don't have to stress the micro usb so much. the head of the micro usb is allways connected to the laptop and when i need to charge it i just get the cable close to the connector and they connect.
