Hi thought I was the only one person holding to old tech so far I'm happy with this machine & I'm still learning how to use it it been two yr now only thing is change is USB mini to USB C if possible. But getting into the device there the risk of cracking keyboard catch-22 that for very informative video I'm only sadden even with lenovo thinkpad x1 fold it didn't have to pen on paper feature for notes & drawing of this earlier advanced machine implementation brought forward onto current models
The layout is different. You should buy the appropriate model for your specific model. The heatgun should be set to max 200 degrees Celcius and slowly heat it up. A hairdryer should also be good. The most important thing is to heat it evenly arround the edges and be carefull not to insert the tool more than 5 mm. There are very sensible wires arround the edge.
I dropped it... my battery has not yet swolen...but i am expecting that to happen. I try to not to deplete my battery and when i don't use it, i shut it down and then hold the power button for 10 sec to completly shut it down...otherwise it drains mai battery and it heats up (i have done all bios upgrades and stuff but still drains the battery). But this habbit has kept the battery going well so far.. I still get arround 4-6 hours on battery.
Hi, i have not replaced my screen yet. I found replacement screen on Aliexpress. You should be able to replace the screen in a similar way as the keyboard. Be very careful when inserting spudger not to touch any cables and you should be ok. Here is a link of the display i found. Hope it helps. Thank you! The best way to do it is with patience. I was "lucky" that my touchpad was broken and i did not care if it breaks further. That being said you need to be careful not to instert the spuge tool more than 5 mm. there are antenas and wires around the edge. Watch the video and pause were you can see connectors clearly and mark those places on your device and be careful around those areas. Good luck!
Also make sure the touchpad is heated enough that it comes of easily. I had to insist on some areas. I used 200-250 Celsius temperature, but i constantly moved the heater so that the surface does not overheat.
You can buy one on Aliexpress. Please check my other replies as I have already discussed this issue with other people. You may find useful informations in the comments. Good luck!
Hi man,i’m italian, I followed your video, I bought the original keyboard but I have a problem that it seems you had too, the backlight does not work ... at minute 8:52 when you turn on the pc also your keyboard does not light up, then there is a I cut in the video and at minute 8:55 you suddenly see the keyboard lit up, how did you do it? can you help me on how did you get the backlight to work? thanks a lot and sorry for my english😢
I had no issue with my keyboard. The video cut was just because i switched position of the camera. Maybe you should double check the cable. It may not be fully inserted. Hope you can find the issue.
@@kaorischannel also my keyboard lights up for a second on startup and then nothing, i reinstalled all the drivers, i reset windows 10 to factory settings, i bought two original keyboards from two different lenovo resellers because i thought the first one was defective, instead both have the same problem, we worked in a repair shop, so we are not "simple" users and we have tried them all and I can't understand where the problem is 😓😓
@@HokutoLegend hi dude,I solved half the problem. the resolution is putting the clip on the connector down (to the left). Then your wacom device is usable and keyboard will light up. But my keyboard still can't use. I'm sad. I'm doubt myself.
I have not dissasembled my screen yet (and hopefully i won't have to :D). I've done a quick search on youtube and there are a few videos about how to remove the screen. Maybe you can find the solution there. Good luck! ;)
I found replacement LCDs and it should be possible to replace... but i don't know how. My guess is that it is the same procedure as for the keyboard. I also found complete LCD + case+ hinge assembly for it and this should be easier to replace, especially if the LCD case is bent, but in this case you have to disassemble the keyboard to have access to the hinge screws.
Diego Javier Chaparro Díaz I found replacement pen on Aliexpress. It is not made by Lenovo but it works. You can search for "Lenovo Yoga Book active pen " on Aliexpress. Hope this helps.
Faris Jayyousi I bought it on AliExpress. You need to know your model number (example: yb1-x91f) and if you have the windows or android version. @@diytech2001 Thank you :) One more question: my Yoga Book is not charging anymore. I am sure that there is a problem with the battery (bad connection between the charger and the battery). Is there a way to fix this without opening my device? The charger and the cable are fine. Any help is appreciated !!
Faris Jayyousi Does it run with the charger connected? If not, your micro usb might be damaged. Either way you have to open the laptop to replace the usb or the battery. I do not have much experience repairing this laptop. I only replaced my keyboard because i dropped it on a rock by mistake. It is not difficult to open but you need to be carefull not to break any cable when you open it. If you are not confortable doing this you should take it to a laptop repair shop.
For my laptop I bought a magnetic micro usb cable like on older macbook so that i don't have to stress the micro usb so much. the head of the micro usb is allways connected to the laptop and when i need to charge it i just get the cable close to the connector and they connect.
It's a nice ideea. I have something in the making now. I have allmost all necessary parts. Most of the parts are from aliexpress. Hopefully I will find some time close to Christmas to build it and make a video about. I would make more videos but time is an issue for me.
I haven't looked especially for it but I know it is an eMMC chip soldered to the motherboard. If you are thinking about replacing it... it might be quite difficult
Thanks for a simple and clear instruction. I will replace my cracked keypad screen.
Thanks a lot...my laptops keyboard just broke no...i was crying thinkin that nothing could be done..but u gqve me a lot of hope, thanks a lot 😀☺☺☺

I put mine on the hot bed of my 3d printer. 70 degrees C for 10 minutes works fine.

Hello does the pen works with the replacement keyboard?
Hi, yes, it works just as the original.
thank you

Is there any difference in keyboard, between Android or windows version?
yes, the windows version has marked touchpad buttons and the android one has only touchpad. I don't know if they are compatible with each other

Maybe it could be replaced but it is quite difficult since the emmc module is soldered to the motherboard. It may also have proprietary setup.
