Don't change!!! Love the enthusiasm and love for the hobby!! Its so cool that you express yourself and the excitement the hobby brings!! Great flying and landings.
Screw the haters, the yelling excitedly and enthusiasm even after flying a thousand models is YOUR signature. Never lose that. I'd rather listen to you yell than watch Nate S crash planes in SAFE, or Ryan pimp his 'media empire'...You already (wisely) separated the build from the maiden in your videos. Dont change anything else.
I hate to say it but it must be a larger complaint for it to be mentioned and considered, as many listeners and subscribers have no other options than to listen to the video under headphone use, which absolutely destroys ones hearing when he yells in that high of a pitch. Now I'm not saying that Brian shouldn't be himself, as he's an awesome dude with a great personality and passion for the hobby, but maybe tone it down a bit for the listeners sake and hearing. I actually give him much respect for his acknowledgement of the issue, because it shows he cares about his audience, and by doing so he will get more subscribers and views in the end.

Let me say that I've been in this for 7 years and i fly with guys retired and been flying rc for more than 25 years, and as much as i hate to see anyone crash it is kinda cool too see the"pros" fail and crash. Thanks for the kind words. I really love flying, but say all the time, I'm probably a pretty average (to bad) RC pilot, but I CAN do it ;) There's a LOT of WAAAAAY better pilots all over. They might not have to fly under pressure like we're under all the time (or most of the time) and probably don't share all (or most) of their screw-ups ;)
We need to make a crash compilation video....It would be just like other BrianPhillipsRC videos - VEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRY long ;)
That howling is generated by an oversized and inefficient thrust tube exit, which is easily remedied by the RCGeeks 3d printed exhaust nozzles giving it more thrust and making it more efficient. You can also land the Rafale much slower and shorter by coming in high alpha slow with the nose up, while controlling your altitude with good throttle management.

I am still building my original, I am replacing its ESC to an Avian 100 so I can have reverse, also adding extensions to wire leads to place my receiver up front. I did pick up a Reflex V2 controller but won't use on this plane due to my spectrum receiver does it all already. Thanks for the video Team Phillips.
Best review of this model that I've seen. They say adding an exhaust nozzle adds some speed. And I am with you, it's time we band together and demand soft tires on higher end models. Organize the revolution Brian!

Great video as always! Do not lose your excitement for this hobby, keep yellin and loving this hobby the way you do. I love my Rafale, its always a joy to fly and an exciting flight :D. The RC geek has a 3d printed exhaust nozzle mod that restricts it a bit and its a HUGE upgrade. Apparently its exhaust diameter is too large for the fan size which results in thrust loss, the mod fixes that.
5:06 Hey Brian, you’re being a bit modest about your flying prowess. Over the last 18 months your flying skills have increased exponentially. Now, I don’t pretend to speak for all of your subscribers but I don’t think I’m the only one who sees it. Also, just as you have improved in front of the camera, the camera crew’s ability has grown equally. Y’all keep up the great work.

Mixing board is glued onto a small and long wooden piece which is attached on top of the wooden battery floor with just one little screw in the back of the battery bay. Take that screw out and you can slide the small wooden piece with the mixing board towards the nose of the plane.

I got the Rafale this summer. Awesome jet, felt a wee bit underpowered, if you nailed the high alpha landing, awesome. For anyone wanting to get this plane, don't use safe!!! Safe limits you pitch authority, which is the reason mine crashed. Second thing, after a hard bounce, check the landing gear retract mounting points! The plastic within the foam got cracked allowing movement, which cause a landing gear failure... Which lead up to my second crash, Will 100% repair it, the only thing is I need a new fuse! Do first flight clean, with out the tanks, because if you crash, the damage will be less. Brian, Keep up the work, don't let the toxic side of CZcams get to you.

We almost have the power lines buried ;) They've got ground transformers installed, and just waiting for the next sub to get out and pull power lines through the 2" conduit, then swap over from the poles. It's gonna make for many more takeoff and landing approaches, should we decided to go ahead with a crosswind strip. Also, I'll be able to PPG from the front yard way safer, and later, ultralight from the "Full scale" strip out back!!! It's gonna be epic!
I'm generally more of a propeller fan, but man that sound is incredible.

Excellent video! I have two of these I fly without ordinance (too draggy) using AR630AR631 receivers RC Geek nozzles. Haven't been brave enough to try with the REFLEX. My flights are usually 3 1/2 minutes on a 6S 4000mah Smart battery.
Don't know if it has ever been said, but you have the best camera crew in the hobby!!!! Also, ditto on the other comments about your enthusiasm for the hobby.

BTW, FYI- I use Avian ESC on my Rafale and the thrust reverse is not so effective in this one because it has too much air intakes that allows the air to spread everywhere
Thinking maybe flip rudder / nose gear in low rates with lots of rudder for landing. Awesome EDF. Thinking of making it my 1st EDF . Been flying since the Stone Age back when we had metal box 4 channel radios no expo or rates and used crystals for channels. Needless to say I’ve been flying for many many years, from scale high and low wing , Quadcopters and camera drones & helicopters. Thought about it’s little sister but I like size to help me see what I’m flying. Looks like a easy take off and landing plane.
I enjoyed this one better than the first Rafale you had flown earlier this summer. I like this one and others with the style of wing configuration ( delta/canard wing style). 🤠😍😎
The reason it flies like it does is because of the canard and delta wing characteristics together. That is because if it stales , the canard stales first , instead of the main wing, which will give you a bit more advantage to correct it or time to adjust . Shout, even flying a standard or regular delta wing is easier to control in the air. Should try flying a Mirage 3 sometimes. 🤠
You can really high alpha on approach and landing to slow it down. Don't use the pre-programmed flaps. They're not necessary and you only lose aileron effectiveness with that crow setup FMS put in. Just raise the nose and use throttle on final for nice, slow touchdown.
One question: how did you set up the lemon rx so you could use the bind port as a 7th channel. I tried numerous ways on my NX8 but no joy. I ended up using a Spektrum 8ch rx so i could get ch 7 to the 3 pos switch to change the reflex options.

New to the hobby and curious… Is there a way to toggle input sensitivity for the rudder when grounded vs in flight? Would be nice not having to “ride the gnats behind” when taxiing.
YES, but it's not super simple. You can also make an additional SEPARATE rudder and steerable nose gear channel. This is what many people do, but I've found that this is way too much work for the super limited impact.
If you want to make a MIX, then tie the mix to a switch, possibly with "landing flaps" or another common choice while landing, then you'll be able to reduce rudder output to 50% or less. This would help, but then once on the ground, you can just put the flaps (or another switch) back to "neutral" and she'll turn sharp for taxing.
Easier way, just use a TON of expo...like 40% in stead of 5% or 10% - this will make a huge difference.

Brian, I love this plane. Been flying the Viper 90mm and the Avanti 80mm for quite some time now with excellent success. I hear what you're saying at 4:58, Two Brother's RC say similar things about this Rafale. I'm on the fence between this beautiful Delata and the FMS Gripen 80mm.

I HAVE done it, but only ONCE (FMS Ranger 1.2m), as I don't feel it's worth a WHOLE SINGLE channel...but you can do it if you want. Not on the REFLEX, but on the AS3X/SAFE equipped receivers.
Just built mine and used your video set up. I didn't use the reflex tho. I noticed the LED on the top of the plane is none existent but the cover for it is there. See its not flashing on urs too so I guess it's not a function.

You should be able to. Might be a bit tight. For high alpha, you want your CG back pretty far.

I'm pretty sure this plane is meant to be flown in high alpha more than normal flying. My guess is this was what they had in mind when they set it up , etc. CG location, etc. The thing flies in high alpha on it's own. Fly it in and land it in high alpha!

With all the ordinance on it looks scary to fly and wants to tuck in on the turns. I was tempted to buy this last year but with recent price hikes it is beyond my too expensive to bin limit !!! Having watched the maiden one thing is for certain, I would only ever fly it clean.
