- If you are looking for cheap RV camping in North Carolina, look no further than John H Moss Campground in Shelby, North Carolina!
We needed a cheap RV site somewhat centrally located between Asheville and Charlotte and while we initially were very happy with the $20 per night rate for full hookups...our excitement was magnified even more when we arrived to check in and found they offer a WEEKLY RATE!!
In this video, we share our thoughts on this cheap North Carolina campground. You can't always assume cheap RV camping means a rundown and sketchy campground. This campground felt safe and is probably the best value for RV camping in North Carolina, especially if you need to be close to Charlotte and don't want to break the bank!
Reservations can be made at 704-482-7926 Monday - Friday

We've stayed 2 weeks at Moss Lake in a 35ft Class A MH about 5 years ago, and it does represent a great value, but like you observed, most campsites are on a hill and very unlevel. I happen to be in Shelby, NC now at the Dry Ridge RV Park. They have FHU sites for $500-$600 a month, electricity included. We are FT RVers who usually boondock out west. In fact, we boondocked for 10 months last year in 11 states. We're here visiting family in Gastonia, but boondocking sites are pretty rare here. We have over 5,000 watts of solar and 23.5kwh of batteries in our motorhome, so don't need electrical hookups. They have a site in the back of the Dry Ridge RV Park without hook-ups where they are letting us stay for much less. They have one more dry camp site, but its occupied right now. I highly recommend this park as the owners couldn't be friendlier or more helpful.
Thanks for sharing that info!
I stayed there last summer for a week loved it
Definitely a nice little campground!
Thank you for sharing this find! You don't know how much this information helps me right now.
I'm currently living out of my camper.
And just having a variety of options really helps and is a piece of mind. I don't like to stay at one place too awful long But this is perfect so thank you! God bless and stay safe brother 🙏
You’re welcome, glad the info was helpful!
FYI: Effective July 1, 2024 the daily rate is $35 and weekly rate is $175. Still a pretty good deal for full hookups in that area.
Thanks for the update!
Wow! 1995... first travel trailer and first camp!
