- Citizen Cope performs "Healing Hands"
February 26, 2010
River Music Hall
This particular story is about that time that everything was awful, when you thought the sun would never rise and the clouds would never clear, and then one person somehow cast a silver lining over it all. What it’s about, Cope said in an interview with The River’s Rita Cary, is people’s ability to help other people out. When someone thinks their heart has stopped, when someone swears they’ve given up, it’s up to friends and family to be their healing hands.
The song comes out raspy and raw - classic Cane, with even more of an edge because it’s just him and the acoustic guitar. But the song’s optimism trumps the texture of the vocals, elevating “Healing Hands” to something that is, well, healing: from sandpaper, a silver lining and a soothing balm.

Music and people -both are best when they aren’t confined by labels. And a radio station that connects the two should be independent, intelligent, and diverse, like the minds of its listeners. At 92.5 the River, we celebrate that diversity every day, playing music that weaves a rock-and-roll tapestry across time and genres. Our playlist includes elements of alternative, acoustic, blues, folk, reggae, and other forms of music. You’ll hear a blend of current releases from today’s artists, your favorites from the 80s and 90s, and a few deep album cuts from the 60s and 70s. You’ll also hear artists and songs that have never been played on the radio before, because we believe that discovering new music is one of life’s simple joys, and we love to share that joy with our listeners.
If your relationship with music runs deep, and you enjoy a playlist that’s just as deep, tune in to 92.5 the River -Boston’s Independent Radio!

I think Citizen Cope is one of the most unappreciated artist of the last 15 years. I fucking love all his music(.)
He is amazing
Word!
Check out Joe Marson for another who needs way more credit for his talent.
a true artist , one live show and your hooked
I never heard of him before I met my ex girlfriend. She told me that he is her favorite singer. I loved it. We had great moments listening to his music. My favorite ones were when we'd hit the road somewhere and she would sing his songs from first till last word and God, she looked so happy and beautiful. I loved her more than anything and it broked my heart when she told me in tears that she is leaving me. I will always feel sorry that she stoped loving me because I never wanted to hurt her and I don't think I'll ever understand why. And every time I hear the begining of this song there's a picture in my head of her smiling and singing in her car as always, holding my hand when we stop at a red light.. I I will never forget your healing hands my love, you gave me daylight, you gave me sunlight..
the best guy of his generation, it's just a real pleasure to listen him, thanks Clarence for all.
I'll never forget..your healing voice..

The first time I went and saw him in concert, I damn near cried twice, it just hit me hard. By then end of next month I will have seen him in concert 5 times.
All I can say right at the moment is that you leave me speechless. One thing I want you to know is that I just got turned on to you by a friend and I am not sure if I would have made it through the past two weeks without your music. Thank you & keep it coming.

@clearlykasia Yes, we did use a professional camera. We shot Citizen Cope performing Healing Hands at the River radio station on March 4th, 2010 with a Canon 5D Mark II. Citizen Cope was great that day and we can't wait to seem him in a couple of weeks at the Earth Day Concert in Boston. Citizen Cope also performed Lifeline, Salvation , Sideways that day.
