Yikes! This guy has mastered the fakeout hook n' flurry! Don't let your nerves get to ya though, or you'll go down in a hurry!
Wow, I don't normally fight so aggressively right off the bat as I'm seen doing here; sure puts on a show, though! ...and Hondo then puts me in my place, yeesh~! You've got to take your time with this guy and be sure that you're dodging a real punch and not one of his swerves before he throws out that hook. And his flurry? That'll cause a TON of hurting. Unless you block. Yeah, that's a thing. I kinda forget 'cause I'm mostly dodging outta the way. The only downside to a block is that it takes a piece of your stamina away, and many many things CANT be blocked. But! It's better than taking an easily blocked blow, y'know?

Go for the knockout punch! It's Punch-Out!!(!) This title is a true-to-form reimagining of the classic Punch-Out!! titles! And 60 frames per second will let you see the animation to the fullest! You've got the simple and rhythmic dodge/punch controls, your star punch, and a super-stereotypical array of contenders to bash! You can just feel the love that went into making this into a game to be cherished by the fans of the series! (It's good for newbies, too! This was my first!)
Your goal is to knock out your opponent, and to do so you need to look for openings! If you just throw punches at random they'll be blocked. In general, you'll dodge a single or series of punches and then when they're open for retribution you respond with your own! There are other methods of attack, and the game will introduce a few to you as a key method for attack, but in general it's "Dodge-punch-punch-punch"! You'll often get stars for a star punch (a more powerful attack) if you take advantage of these more secret techniques.
Oh, I almost forgot to mention! You have two ways of healing yourself! If you knock the other fella down, you can mash the punch buttons to regenerate health as long as they are on the floor. There's also the super-secret-chocolate bar! Press "-" between rounds to heal a LOT of health next round. Only can do once per match!
I played through this game once in the past using the Wii Remote/Nunchuk scheme throwing punches left and right, so this time I'll try the more classic method of the Wii Remote held sideways, buttons only.

A couple technical notes:
This is being played on a Nintendo Wii U, a system backwards-compatible with Wii discs. The Wii U has the same hardware built-in as the Wii. The Wii U will automatically upscale your Wii games based on your selected resolution and output via HDMI in Progressive Scan for a clean image.

I feel like the order should be bear hugger, don flamenco, great tiger, and piston hondo (a). I think this would be better since bear hugger and don flamenco have a worse win loss ratio then tiger and Hondo (a). The reason I think piston hondo (a) should be the title bout is because he has only two times before this round while great tiger has a worse win loss ratio. (I think piston hondo (a) has the most wins or he is the second)
Fun fact: That one part of his cutscene of him eating sushi is supposed to show that he can eat food without gaining weight

In certain places, combat is a civil sport that’s all about respecting your opponents limits while also trying to win. That’s why the glove bump before a fight is a popular tradition in boxing (at least in the US)

Not even Mr sandman can do that in title defense. He blinks to telegraph which uppercut he’s using. Also piston Hondo is one of the only fighters to have one loss pre title defense mode. Idk why he’s only the major circuit start when he could be world circuit

Yeah. When i first got to piston honda in TD i lost to hin like 3 times before barely beating him after the 4th try. And then i proseeded to beat Bear Huger in 1 try.
If honda would train enough i feel like he could go up agianst sandman.
In fact, his track record even says so. He has won 26 times and only lost once (which is Sandman). However, he stays as the first contender in Major Contender.
