Transmission fluid partially changed using Siphon Hand Pump Ford Econoline e250 - Project Van

- The transmission does not have a drain plug so I used a hand pump to remove some of the transmission fluid and replace it with new MERCON-V Automatic Transmission fluid. The red hose was not long enough to reach the fluid so i had to go buy another hose that was longer to get it to work.

Legend, like the ingenuity with the different size cables 👌
Good job love the jazz music
YA'LL HOLD ON! SO, the tiny black hose fits inside the red hose using the only black connector piece. You never needed any other hoses!!!
Its a dipstick hose
I bought a longer hose too. I'd hate to have to fish out that red hose if it were to disconnect from the black extension hose.
You've got to keep pumping throughout the whole process like a bicycle tyre pump?
I see other syphon pumps on the internet that only require a few pumps for the flow to start, and no further pumping is required.
Only if every automatic transmission we're that simple to do. 😎 Good content! 👍
Yeah, I tried it on my jeep Cherokee and it did not work so well.
@@Zuntic LMAO! I love real people stating the reality of trying to do it by this method!
Great video. What size hose did you use for the extension?
1/4 inch but it comes with 5/8..used the zip tie to hold it..
Works fine. Clean out after using and spray wd40.
I've used mine on a snowblower and power washer that's tough to drain without making a major mess. Also pumped out the Front & rear Diffs on 3 jeeps. The seals weren't leaking so why pop the cover. Worked great. For $6-7, how can you go wrong. They claim gas is OK but I've heard it'll dry out the rubber valves.
We used it to get gas out of a boat after a hurricane to run generators so I will know if the gasket gets eaten up by the gas after a while.
@@Zuntic you gotta do what you have to in that situation. At least if you're going to have to get a new one, it won't break the bank. Hope everything thing worked out for you.
Got the link for the extra 10ft extension clear hose you use here? Great Video.
I just went to the local hardware store.
So did the transmission shift smoother after the change Zuntic? or just go out completely and need rebuild?
I believe it was smoother. I did not have it another 6 months but the transmission never seemed to get worse while I had it.
How many pumps does it take to transfer 1 gal of gas?
Just wondering; did you run the engine on your truck for a few minutes before you started pumping out the transmission oil?
i do not think the engine was hot when i did it but i did have to move the van to where i was working but that was a short distance like 100 ft.
@@Zuntic
Okay, I was trying to move the transmission oil from my lawn mower yesterday and I had a heck of a job using the same pump and I wondered if it was because the old engine oil was too viscous?
we ended up having to turn the lawn mower upside down to drain the old oil out which obviously defeats the point of having the pump!
@@cumbrianhomestead I run my engine until it is warm before I siphon out old tranny fluid . Makes it much easier.
@@cumbrianhomestead these cheap chicom hand pumps only work one time.
@@cumbrianhomestead You can also keep some Marvel Mystery Oil on hand when you are going to siphon the old lawnmower oil out and pour in a few ounces of the Marvel Mystery Oil with the old oil then start up the lawnmower and let run for a few minutes then shut off and proceed to siphon. The Marvel Mystery Oil will thin the motor oil out nicely making it flow much better through the siphon pump while at the same time helping to clean out the motor engine and prepare it for the new oil.
I like the way you pumped Scotty Kilmer's Dong.
What size clear tube is that?
Wow that was a genuinely burned out fluid.
What is the size of the clear hose you purchased?
I do no remember. Sorry.
How much oil did you manage to extract?
I am not sure i did not measure the fluid that i was able to pump out.
How much fresh fluid did you pour back in to refill it to the full mark on the dip stick?
The transmission fill reservoir on mine is curved, so i can't get the the hose in far enough
why not disconnect the line at the radiator and crank the engine up and let it pump itself dry ?
I did not want to open the system up to avoid chances of leaks and i am lacking knowledge in transmissions.
What was at the bottom of the bucket?
What ever came out of the transmission. It was like a clear gel.
Hope you’re changing the transmission filter as well
With all those metal shavings I don't think it matters really what he does other than rebuild it when it dies
@@kittybrowneye3163 I'm installing an external Magnefine filter - the magnet is "inline" with the fluid so forces the small metal bits onto the magnet - that way the metal doesn't stay on the solenoids as much and the metal doesn't build up damage. The internal filter is only 80 microns while the external Magnefine also has a 5 micron filter along with the magnet. So I'm not gonna change the internal filter at all.
This would be a great video if he had a camera man because I can’t see certain things 😩
Also you failed to show us how you attached the extend hose as I can see you use tape and zip tie !!
Ugh 😑 ( Nee video please )
Best device for stealing gas
Wrong! you cannot steal gas by putting the hose down the fuel neck anymore.
@The TacomaKid not on new cars
Hope you shaved that arm. I had to pause the video and rewind to be sure of what I just saw.
I had to watch this to figure out how to assemble the stupid thing. You should see the directions! Might as well be in Chinese, would've been easier. Some strange parts in the kit.
I know that fluid smelled horrid.
