This was some of the hardest stuff I've ever done. Took me an hour and 20 minutes to replace this stupid thing. Thanks for the help, without you I wouldn't have been able to know what to do, but this was not easy.

I can hear my LG LFXS30766D compressor starts, it run very smooth but it it not getting cold - in the freezer. Is that something related to the START RELAY ?

I have an LG2897ST model fridge and the part on my compressor looks totally different. There are three prongs on the compressor and the three wires coming off the relay can't be removed. I can't seem to locate the part anywhere.

A few weeks ago, I noticed it had defrosted. There was no sound of the compressor running. I looked this problem up and a number of results suggested replacing the start relay and / or overload.
I ordered replacement parts, and they have now arrived, however I have misplaced the photograph I took of the original wiring.
The start relay is a 3 pin relay
Could someone please advise on how this should be wired?
The brown and blue pair of wires both came from what looks like a capacitor box. The blue and white wires appear to come from what I believe to be a thermostat box, which is then connected to the mains.

No I haven't, it was working fine until yesterday. I tested the 3 wires on the plug that is on the compressor and 2 are around 6ov AC. I've looked around the area and found nothing that looks like what is in your video. the temp in both freezer and refrigerator are 60 degrees. I have yet to find a diagram of the unit. I had a chest freezer do this and it had a relay of which I replaced and it works fine now. @@appliancepartspros

Is the a way to ohms test the star relay to make sure it's good? Also is there a way to test the overlaid as well? The relay is 15 buck and over load over 50 buck, which is more likely to be bad ? Cause compressor to not start? Ty

The relay is likely the culprit, overload protector is probably ok. Many manufacturers box them into one unit, if your really handy you could break open the relay/overload protector and take the overload out so it can be reused with a lower cost relay only unit.

I cracked that tab off our cover and that cover still wouldn't release. Read, on a website, where this appliance tech just said to place a large screwdriver in between the cover and compressor and pry it off but just be careful. That worked for me. Don't know who designed that cover but they didn't do a good job.

There seem to be a number of repairs to make the compressor start working again. How does someone trouble shoot to determine what needs to be replaced to get the compressor started running again and the unit to start cooling. I have an old Imperial Heavy Duty Commercial upright freezer that just quit freezing and suspect a compressor start problem. Can you help?

I really need your help please! I'm on disability and can't absorb a $500 repair. My LG French doors/bottom fridge began to lose temp a few days ago, in the past it would freeze over if we didn't close the door fully. Now the whole thing is room temp, but both fans work, I cleaned the filthy coils and the compressor is running with normal quiet hum, is there any reason to even check the PTC if my compressor is running (it's warm to the touch, but no cold air coming into the cabin). I have had it 100% defrosted for 2 days, so no issue there. It only shuts off when I open the fridge doors if that helps. Could the thermistor be an issue? Please advise, I am very handy ..oh, and I see no visual damage on the main panel, no blown capacitors etc Thanks so much

@@joshuaharrell3920 Mine was the worst possible outcome, (bad compressor) but some 411, if your fridge isnt very old, you will be surprised that companies like LG honored my
warranty well past expiration and covered a new compressor 2) With fridges, like cars, don't throw good money at bad, if it's really old, do not pay for a new compressor unless its
a pricey model, I bought a new LG for our 2nd garage fridge for $750 from one of those no-name appliance warehouses that is $1500+ at home depot, they delivered for free and took our old fridge away sparing us another expense. • @papadexallaroundguy2998

    What is relay for?

    • @appliancepartspros
      @appliancepartspros  Před 6 lety +1

It is a device that jump-starts the compressor inside the refrigerator. If the start relay is burned out, then the compressor may not work and the unit won't cool. If the refrigerator is warming up and making some strange clicking noise, this may be an indication of a damaged relay.
