  • Nature needs our help. We all can make a difference, by helping nature, regardless how small our garden is by making it a wildlife garden. Even planting one plant helps. We do not even realize how empty our gardens are.

We plan to have a number of log piles, one of which might be under this old oil tank platform. Log piles offer perfect habitat for a range of invertebrates, small mammals and amphibians. Logs offer a refuge and hunting ground for small mammals, reptiles and amphibians, and shelter for over-wintering and hibernating wildlife. Fungi, wood-boring insects, woodlice, beetle grubs and wood wasps all find homes and food in the logs.

I would like to add sensibly, which is quite hard for me! But I have put loads of herbacious perennials in my sisters garden, and now I want to add British natives like vipers bugloss, knapweeds, scabious's, etc!😊

Definitely add a pond, somewhere in half sunlight half shade, give it sloping edges and a deepish end - good luck

Thank you for that comment. Half sunlight, half shade would mean we position it nearer the hedge. We will certainly keep this in mind.

I just think each of us who cares about nature, will be an example to others. Hopefully slowly we will turn the tide in nature favour. Thank you for commenting.
