Dude, Nintendo needs to chill out and realize that fan content is COMPLEMENTARY to their IP's. The more something can get circulated around, the more awareness it gets. The more awareness a franchise gets, the better it will be for merch sales. Just let people be fans and geek out over the franchise. None of these fan games threaten Nintendo's official products. Anyone seeking out these niche fan games is doing so because they're already consumers of the official products. Anyone who's only playing fan games without buying any of the real games isn't going to go out and spend money on the official games if fan games get banned. All this over protection is so stupid on Nintendo/GameFreak's part.

Well I'm still completely expecting them to come after my crappy little Another Code demake I happened to make at the same time they were finishing the remake of both. Because it's a Nintendo-console based franchise from all the way back 20 years ago.
But if they don't, and only focus on Pokemon, assumedly because I demade the original singular 20 year old DS game instead of the two-in-one Switch game that hadn't even come out by Christmas 2023 (when I released mine) and Pokemon is 'still new with frequent new stuff', I'm just gonna call Zubatcrap.
I'm hoping my demake has people try the original DS game and Wii sequel, as well as the remakes!!

Palworld only seems like its dying off because its content is limited at the moment so its easy to burn out on, but the game is still in Early Access (I think Alpha...?) and they far exceeded sales expectations which gives them a lot more money to work with, so their resources are expanding. Anyone who is business oriented, namely Nintendrones, would notice this and feel fear. Though, I think this is largely unrelated to Palworld, I do genuinely believe that Freak (they dropped the "Game" a while ago) just has sadistic tendencies and likes to spit on their fans to make a point, since whenever they do this seems almost random and arbitrary. Essentially Relic Castle fosters creativity amongst the creation of fake pokemon with fan projects and Nintendo cannot have fans create new pokemon designs which outshine official designs because it would limit their ability to come up with unique designs.

Hey MuchingOrange, gotta ask have you played Vinemon: Sauce Edition privately or on stream? Because it's a fangame "full of soul" as the developer claim it and has waaaay too much original content including all new pokemon (or Vinemon as they are called in there) alongside alot of QoL features that GameFreak really should add to their official games, like naming the base stats of the pokemon through the pokedex or like a list of moves a pokemon can still learn per level up for example.
Also in case you feel like references would get lost on you or something for it: This game and it's narrative stands on it's own. If some references get caught, that's great, but nothing is required for it which is an astonishing feature for games based on some references!

The creators of rpg-maker has the legal president to go after them too, so they'd likely have two enteties with the legal right to pursue them. Which is why you should distribute such content as a patch file if possible. As distributing a modification of another piece of software is fully legal, but distributing a modified version of said software is in a sense distributing the product of a separate entity. This is such a shame, it hurts creators huge and small and just overall damages fans' love of the franchise itself. I got back into Pokemon because of playing Insurgence. A fangame was why I bought a 3ds, a Switch, and all the games gen 4 and up. It's literally in their best interests to keep fangames alive - they get old fans back into the games, and help new fans introduce themselves to Pokemon by playing a game for free and seeing if they like it, before they pay money for one.

Pokemon is a great franchise but the main series games with them its either they get stale really fast or they rush them too fast.
Then the Pokemon Company sees all the fan games and it be like OH NO we can't have people doing such a good job creating Pokemon games while the actual Pokemon Company they either rush their games and the games end up having problems or they just get stale like i said.
Also i wont go into TOO much detail but Id be careful what you say on TheWayBackMachine as i wont say what sites or what they were for but i will say that some sites get a ban so severe that they cant even display archives there anymore either.
Because of this i might be tempted to sometime soon go there myself and see what fun games i can find there just in case... AND SOON.
Also Id like to state that in general especially lately Nintendo and Pokemon have kinda been on a bad mood on all this in general especially as I hear they had some kind of person that created a Nintendo Switch emulator (and maybe roms too for all i know) that i think got in trouble over it.
