Granholm is a Canadian, born and raised socialist, educated at U of M & UC Berkley law schools (two of the most liberal schools in the country). She knows absolutely nothing about energy, but she knows very well how to wreck everything she touches. Even if you count Whitmer, her eight years as Michigan governor were among the worst in the state's history.

If they are vocal about wanting or planning to ban Russian energy imports when the US is self sufficient, what makes them think that Russia might just think the hell with supplying US energy needs before the self sufficiency happens? Why not leave the US up the creek without a paddle, if the imports are going to stop at some point anyway? Russia would lose the income from shutting off the exports early, but the way Putin currently operates, his Russian self interest, or aggression if you will, seems to go beyond merely what is best for his country's economy.

Nothing was wrong with Russian oil,
the problem was the dependency.
Russia decides its had enough of NATO (rightfully so imo) backing Ukrainian insurgents against Russian separatists in the Donbas region (bombarding them since the Obama era)
Then with U.S. backing (under the current Biden administration ) NATO let's it be known they're considering Ukraine's partnership into the outdated organization setting off Russia's incursion into Ukraine (both in 2014 and 2022).

The first thing NATO implements (encouraged by the U.S.) is monetary sanctions on Russia , there by ending their received oil purchases from? you guess it ,
