Hello. Na notice nyo ba yung parang news articles na nakikita pag dumadaan yung eroplanong papel or boat? May nakita kasi akong New York Times na title.
Filipinos are very family-oriented. They tend to stay together. Most parents give their all to provide/give the best for their children regardless of their social status in life. Filipino parents normally would do their best to send their kids to school even up to college. Which is why after graduation most children won't move out because want to give back to their parents who gave their all to their children. Of course, this does not apply to all families but this is the norm in the PI.
the member singing the second verse about the father, Josh, never met his father since birth. and also Ken, which sings the low notes throughout the song, lost her grandmother just recently whom actually the one took care of him back when he was a child. hearing them singing those lines hurt me so much
Indeed, and Ken only met his parents “Once” ever since. Both of his parents are working abroad and never get the chance to go home yet. Its his grand parents who raised him, and it’s sad that his grandma recently passed away too.
@@TriFate this is very random but, I found native English speakers attractive when they speak English HAHAHAH I dunno u guys sound handosme/pretty HAAHHA
The Filipino culture is one of those few cultures that honor elderly parents by taking care of them and providing for them. When children grow old, they use their parents as inspiration to work hard and accomplish things so that they can give back to their parents. We don't have a lot of homes for elderly people because when parents and grandparents become really old, we take care of them at home. For some people this feels like an obligation, but for most... they do it out of love and gratitude.
Filipinos are known for having strong and close family ties. They place high regard and put importance on their family before anything else. They work all day and do all they can to feed and provide for their family. In other countries, when a person turned 18, he/she can live away from his/her family. In the Philippines, they value their family so much that they keep them intact through the years.
Tha map is like the parents that is giving the right directions for their children. Wherever the boat and plane goes it always needs the map to reach to the destinations, that is what i thought in this song. I like it very much.
Lataratara latarata sobbing ... where’s your dancing huhuhuhu... oh waltz... I can’t help but getting emotional everytime listening to MAPA... boom straight to the heart ...
The song was actually timely released as it was between mother’s day and father’s day. If you also noticed, the paper boat became a plane and then returned to the former which, I believe, means that even when they’ve grown and went on their own journeys, they’d always remember where they came from. The wilting flowers could also mean that as the children (plane) soar higher or wherever at a fast pace, the parents are likewise getting older. Idk, but Justin liked a tweet with something about that. There are a lot of great observations I’ve read in the comments but the boys are yet to share their thoughts behind it (at least on the concept). 😅 Thanks again for your reaction! ❤️
You noticed the boat's journey, nice! Hahaha and it's nice that at the end of the video the boat returned to where it started just like in the song, ahh such a beautiful song that gives me the goosies haha
Philippines is a 3rd world country. And actually in our culture, it is very common for children to give back to the parents. So believe me, this song is very relatable for every filipino. Perfect date to release actually, coz it was Mothers day last week and Fathers Day is coming in a few weeks. pretty much inbetween.
MaPa = Mama and Papa (Parents) | Mapa = Map (English) Our Map is our MaPa in this Life journey. | Both used and present on this song. This is a masterpiece written by Pablo in collaboration with the rest of SB19. This is a love letter to our parents. For some if not most, we barely tell our parents how we feel inside. This masterpiece will help us do another move to tell them how much we value and love them. In the song, “we will never get lost because we have the Mapa (Map)”. The map represent our parents. The things they taught us, the sacrifices, the advice they give and hardships. We will never get lost so long as we have the Map (Map). In the Filipino culture, we children have great regard to our parents / elderly. Most of us we would want to give back. Times wherein we just want our parents to stay still and its time for us (children) to do the rest. We want them to rest from the days and time they give and sacrifices for us. This song hits the hardest if we have those regrets if not being able to give back and let them rest from those tiring days they spent for us. Regrets prolly due to some unforeseen events. Event where they can no longer hear our “thank you” and gratefulness towards them. Regrets prolly because we don’t have the capability yet of returning the favor (though they never ask for it). Regrets prolly because we are far from them and this pandemic is hindering us of being with them or for any reason. Normally our parents (MaPa) would not share how hard life is, they would not tell us how tight things are. They would always keep inside them the struggles they are facing and normally they will always show their happy face for us not to worry. First part of the song, Justin talks about how our parents (MaPa) prioritize us in all aspects. In the Filipino culture, remember the day when you as a kid cries asking for a balloon and our parent would graciously get some coins and buy one for you. That moment we can only see the our happiness for getting what we simply want, but we cannot see their smile because we are happy with a simple thing. Josh’s part where he heed the memories and advise his (a) father gave him. That even though they are not together he promised of keeping them. Remember a milestone in our lives, our first step as a baby? Those gently hands guiding not just our ways but most making sure that if we fall, they are there willing to Catch and pick us up and encourage us to try again. For Single parents out there, you both the Ma and Pa. you alone is the Mapa. For those OFW parents (MaPa) doing the great sacrifices for their Kids, Salute! Those OFW Kids making every effort to provide and give back their MaPa’s, Salute. Watching this masterpiece brings me home every time. Let’s not wait for the time where we regret.. call them now and let them know how much we love and treasure them. Each one of us has a story to tell with regard to our MaPa and Mapa. I wanna hear em. You may share and comment your story here. This second single, MAPA answers the “Where” from this comeback. IF the song “What” is proudly swinging our Flags, this “Where” is talking about our Origin, our parents and wherever we go, we will always go back to ur family.
Thank you guys for always reacting to SB19. Please hug your parents and say I love you to them..This song is about giving back to our parents and appreciating all their love and efforts.
They now help provide for their family. Stell mentioned it in one of their Interviews. So happy for them. They deserve it. When they were trainees for 3 years and when they were just starting out they had no money.
The meaning of lataratara it means they sang lataratara when we are babies because we are crying and that lataratara the first song that I've ever heard, the best song from my parents 😭💗and when they start singing we slowly sleep, filipino parents are the best for me❤️
i told so,Pablo is directed ang guided by the holy spirit of God to make this song. MAPA MV IS SHOWING OUR CULTURE,AS A COUNTRY THAT CARES SO for MUCH OUR PARENTS. NEVER EVER FOR GET YOUR PARENTS WHATEVER YOUR STATUS AND WHEREVER YOU ARE AROUND THE MAP..REMEMBER TO CALL THEM AND SEND REGARDS,TELL THEM ALSO THAT YOU LOVE THEM. IT IS THE WILL OF GOD TO LOVE OUR PARENTS,TAKE GOOD CARE OF THEM SPECIALLY THAT THEY ARE GETTING OLD/SENIOR..LET THEM REST!
Hello folks! Been waiting for this. I CHALLENGE YOU TWO to do a lyrical dance on this :) I believe in the two of you promise hehe just pick your fave line hahaha I'll wait and always thanks for supporting our boys. Salamat po at mahal namin kayo! (Thank you and and we love you!)
This song was release on May 16 (Sunday), which is a date in between Mother's day and Father's day. Such a clever idea to release it on that day...Go for it SB19.☺
When you guys said Tagalog might be hard to learn because of many similar sounds in the words, at first I disagreed, I thought it's only because of how Pablo made the lyrics rhyme in every line but I realized that WE DO really have many words that are almost the same sound but completely different meanings here's an example from the song MAPA itself "...magkalayo man TAYO, ako'y TATAYO, pangako, TATAY KO" TAYO means 'we' or 'us' then TATAYO means 'to stand' or 'get up' additionally phrases that rhyme to those words like TATAY KO w/c means 'my father' can be confusing as well hahaha that's all wuv you both thank you for supporting SB19!
I love that part at the end where we can see the boat going back to where it came from like damn these people are genius ;-; Everything about the video and song is so beautiful.
Mapa has two meanings Ma(mama) Pa(papa) Mapa = yeah map Filipinos in general are just naturally family-oriented people and we never forget our families (tho maybe not all) even when we’re already old or independent cause its also like in our culture to give back to our parents when we’re old like “now that I’m old it’s my turn to take care of you” cause ofcourse they’re our parents ❤️ just like what the song said :)
Wait- I just realized that it was also called MAPA bc it's actually the combination of MAMA and PAPA . I thought It was just literally MAPA (MAP).That's so clever. Sb19👏
its fascinating how you guys learned about filipino culture just through this song. yes, most kids or parents are far away from one another since most would need to be away in order to earn more.and the language, yes, our ABCs are read as A BA KA DA, so it can be confusing. Love the reactions as always
Here's my theory to the word "Lataratara", if you sing it continuously it can sound "Literatura" or Literature in English, and from its root word LETTER. This song is indeed a LETTER from a Child to their Parents. 😊😉
“Pablo first composed the melody, getting inspiration from a lullaby that his mother would sing to him when he was a child,” - Josh Here’s the article: www.nme.com/en_asia/news/music/sb19-honour-parents-in-new-emotive-single-mapa-2941894 via @NME Please spread^^
La Tierra/Terra means The Earth. "Pablo first composed the melody, getting inspiration from a lullaby that his mother would sing to him when he was a child,”
MA- Short for Mama or Mom PA- Short for Papa or Dad But it can also mean this way MA-ta (eyes) PA-a (feet) Also a literal translation, Mapa is Map in english. Our parents guide us just like how maps function, to see our better future ahead and for us to stand independently to reach that future we saw. I found this amazing as all possible messages are connected to each other
its a very nice and relatable song.you are always fun to watch even if you are not energetic here.hey we are still waiting for your version of what dancebreak
im literally crying out of no where. maybe cause i grew up without my mom i was 2 years old since she passed away and now im 20 y/o still missing her, missing her presence.. im totally insecure to other people who have a complete family... i love you mom...😭😭😭😭😭
MAPA is a masterpiece that embodies the thoughts and feelings of so many (Filipino) children. I respect SB19 for giving us a tribute song for our parents. I love this song. It's so beautiful and heartfelt, so full of love.
"Kahit na kailan pa ma'y 'di mawawala pagka't dala ko ang mapa (I will not be lost anytime for I brought the map) The MAP or MAPA being told there is a double meaning it could be a map or also they're MAma and PApa who will guide them wherever life puts them.
I've just started bingeing on your videos on your 3 channels and found this. The humming lullaby "Lataratara" on the intro is "La Tierra" in Spanish which is relative to the map (Mapa).
"I won't be lost anytime For I brought the map....." It was a play on words. MAPA means map in English and those are the combination of the first (or the last 😁) syllable of the words mama and papa. They won't ever be lost because they have the map/mama and papa to guide them. 🥰
Really good video :D you can try to personally watch their video interview on The Juan’s, each of them shared their stories there, and how they get to sb19
Hi guys. Just in case you have time to watch the boys singing MAPA live, they just sang it in from MAPA Showcase Show. In my opinion, it was beatifully sang. Thanks in advance. A'tin here from Toronto Canada
Someone commented on other reaction video that lataratara is Pablo's mom lullaby to him when he was young. Credit to the commenter, I just read it too.
Yes that’s true. Josh mentioned it in an article that Pablo was inspired by his mother’s lullaby. Here’s the article where Josh mentioned it. www.nme.com/en_asia/news/music/sb19-honour-parents-in-new-emotive-single-mapa-2941894 via @NME
If you want to know more of their journey before SB19, I suggest you should watch the KwentoJuan podcast (if you have free time). Please see...a heartfelt interpretation of SB19's MaPa lyrics: Lataratara..... Mom, how are you? We don't see each other as much anymore I really miss you You've made us as your only priority It's time to consider yourself now Allow me to get rid of all your worries Since you've always guided me in every step of my life, That shaped me to the person I am now So let go of your troubles Close your eyes, dry your tears Just rest easy, I'll take it from here You've already given much more than enough Mom, time to take it easy 'coz it's my turn now Lataratara..... Dad, do you recall when I was younger, remember? You raised me to be ready to any thing that life may bring I lived by your wisdom And up 'til the end, even when we're far apart I promise to continue on, for you, Dad Because you've always kept me going even when I was struggling You gave my life meaning So let go of your troubles Close your eyes, dry your tears Just rest easy, I'll take it from here You've already given much more than enough Dad, time to take it easy 'coz it's my turn now Lataratara..... I won't take anything for granted anymore I will cherish our time together and make it worthwhile Because you've given me a guide map that helps me go through life and will always lead back to us So let go of your troubles Close your eyes Dry your tears, just rest easy I'll take it from here So let go of your troubles Close your eyes, dry your tears Just rest easy, I'll take it from here You've already given much more than enough Mom, Dad, time to take it easy 'coz it's my turn now Lataratara..... Mom, Dad, it's time to rest easy 'coz I'll take care of you now 🙏
I'm actually finding it hard to comment on your reaction coz I can't help but cry again. MAPA is not just a song it is a story. SB19's story and our story. It is a lullaby of every child to their parents. Thanks to you both. Love you dorks...ha ha ha. 💙
MAPA could also be derived from MAta (Eye) and PAa (Foot). Both signified guidance. Pablo's indeed an intelligent man.
Yeahhhhh
and the moon and sun they put on this video represents the parents who guide their children's journey. the intelligence of sb19 indeed incomparable..
Or MA - NANAY PA - TATAY
and the paper boat and paper plane signifies the journey that we go through from childhood to adulthood

pagka't dala ko ang mapa (I will not be lost anytime for I brought the map) The MAP or MAPA being told there is a double meaning it could be a map or also they're MAma and PApa who will guide them wherever life puts them.
they have music showcase tonight PHT 1900 AND ITS LIVE IN THEIR CZcams CHANNEL
You two are so funny and refreshing! I immediately subbed as soon as I saw that you guys reacted to MAPA ❤️

We all can celebrate and be grateful of our parents despite and in spite of everything. God bless all!
"Lataratara" is like a lullaby that a parent sings to their child here in the Philippines. :D
Yes

I love you guys..
Next can you react SB19-WHAT DANCE PERFORMANCE (SOLDIER VERSION)

mapa (mama /papa) OFW overseas Filipino worker
Waddup...
Latarata.. Yeah it's just like a lullaby
I've just started bingeing on your videos on your 3 channels and found this. The humming lullaby "Lataratara" on the intro is "La Tierra" in Spanish which is relative to the map (Mapa).
THANKS AGAIN GUYS FOR ANOTHER WONDERFUL REACTION TO #SB19
"I won't be lost anytime
For I brought the map....."
It was a play on words. MAPA means map in English and those are the combination of the first (or the last 😁) syllable of the words mama and papa.
They won't ever be lost because they have the map/mama and papa to guide them. 🥰
Later they will sing this song live . 😂😂
Really good video :D you can try to personally watch their video interview on The Juan’s, each of them shared their stories there, and how they get to sb19
Thank you for this🤧💙
The two enjoying dancing then someone comes in the room..... 🤣

It has 2 parts and below are the links for your reference 😊

Please see...a heartfelt interpretation of SB19's MaPa lyrics:
Lataratara.....
Mom, how are you?
We don't see each other as much anymore
I really miss you
You've made us as your only priority
It's time to consider yourself now
Allow me to get rid of all your worries
Since you've always guided me
in every step of my life,
That shaped me to the person I am now
So let go of your troubles
Close your eyes, dry your tears
Just rest easy, I'll take it from here
You've already given much more than enough
Mom, time to take it easy
'coz it's my turn now
Lataratara.....
Dad, do you recall
when I was younger, remember?
You raised me to be ready
to any thing that life may bring
I lived by your wisdom
And up 'til the end, even when we're far apart
I promise to continue on, for you, Dad
Because you've always kept me going
even when I was struggling
You gave my life meaning
So let go of your troubles
Close your eyes, dry your tears
Just rest easy, I'll take it from here
You've already given much more than enough
Dad, time to take it easy
'coz it's my turn now
Lataratara.....
I won't take anything for granted anymore
I will cherish our time together
and make it worthwhile
Because you've given me a guide map
that helps me go through life
and will always lead back to us
So let go of your troubles
Close your eyes
Dry your tears, just rest easy
I'll take it from here
So let go of your troubles
Close your eyes, dry your tears
Just rest easy, I'll take it from here
You've already given much more than enough
Mom, Dad, time to take it easy
'coz it's my turn now
Lataratara.....
Mom, Dad,
it's time to rest easy
'coz I'll take care of you now
🙏
I'm actually finding it hard to comment on your reaction coz I can't help but cry again. MAPA is not just a song it is a story. SB19's story and our story. It is a lullaby of every child to their parents. Thanks to you both. Love you dorks...ha ha ha. 💙
