As a painter and a gamer there have always been miniature's I've dreamed about having. Anything from huge Warhammer fantasy monsters, Warhammer 40k gunships and Dungeons and Dragons monsters. Unfortunately, to this day I still don't own most of these epic miniatures that I dreamed about as a kid. Together with my friend and Patreon supporter Albin I've listed 8+ miniatures in RPG and tabletop Wargames that you and I wish we had in our collection.

Can we all just, for a moment, appreciate the fact that the Astartes are so dedicated to getting safely onto the battlefield, that they actually went through the effort of sticking *window wipers* on the Thunderhawk?
Is that why the price tag is so high?
@@vasili1207 Frustated guy detected.
@@vasili1207 Nerd ? You post shitty "hey I saw a UFO " videos and call me a nerd ? FUCK OFF MORON.
a few years ago i bought one of these on ebay (still have the photo's somewhere) and it weighed a ton. when i finally had to sell it the postage was horrendous, but it was worth owning for the couple of years that i did. a truly awesome model for its time, and the box was a sight to see with brass aquillas on all the corners.
Well, they are there for safety....But theyre only there to ensure that the Thunderhawk gets there and back safely, as for the occupants? meh...
I painted my first space marine this week!
Epic mate! Welcome to the club!
a little addition to that list:
- Peter Jackson as a Hobbit: only 2 models ever produced, one giftet to PJ personally, the other one still @GW's HQ
- Uruk Scout with Axe: dont know a number but its selling for 200 quid on ebay (also 28mm)
Great Video man.
these are some great ones :D
The uruk hai scout with axe is now available on the GW website.
@@philscott1880 yes - what a coincidence!
I need the brushes, my wife wants me to paint the living room.
"I have begun replacing OOOLL my furniture with Hero Quest pieces!"
Hahahhaa đ
@@annemijn9790 The best thing about hero quest!!!! ;P
Coronas and fat roll is probably your best bet.
To be fair the tank brushes are really handy for getting behind radiator pipes.
"This is just a tiny 28mm figure for $70, how awesome is that?"
*Cries in Australia*
Literary cheaper than most single models.
"A tiny 28mm model for $70. How awesome is that?"
Slow down, Mr. Roundtree, people already complain about the $20+ single figure boxes.
I have a studio painted Hannah I think they did 13 for the Kickstarter
L9lz, here in Australia, $20 singles were long gone over a decade ago. $50 for a character is the normal.
@@danlotroth9231 Jesus, I know the conversion rate to my country, but that's still âŹ25. Man you need to swipe characters up on Kickstarter
When I was a preteen/teen in the late 80's early nineties all I did was paint D&D minis. Mostly Ral Partha, Grenadier, and a few GW. I had over 250 minis, and a lot of Dragons (2 of which you listed here). Long story short in 1997 my roommate kicked me out. While I was away visiting my father, who was ill with cancer, and out of state. They threw all my belongs into the street (at least the ones they did not want for them selves). Everything I owned including all my minis was stolen. This not only ended a friendship, it knocked the wind out of me to ever paint minis again. It would be 10 years before I would paint another. I still have not restored my collection to anywhere near what it was, and I have researched a few of the stolen minis, and almost all of them are no longer in production, and its a punch in the stomach every time I find own and see how valuable they are now. I am slowly rebuilding my mini collection.
I am interested in the Brushes.
how about remaking them with a 3d printer? the unavailable ones i mean
Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Lovers it.
I am always in need of brushes
Giveaway have ended, winner is: Mercuryrises!
let me know what your favorite rare miniatures are! I'd love to hear what I missed in the video!
Also feel free to correct me if I got any of the miniatures history wrong :D
One of my fav models ever is the Games Day 1998 Gorkamorka Nob, its still somewhat available for around 30gbp and up.
I managed to pick one up in a trade back in the early 00s and ive had Wurrkop Da Morker leading most of my Gorkamorka Mobs.
You can print a chaos warmammoth with your 3d printer. The model is on thingiverse
@@corbinianb.2614 haha yeah, well the only one i saw looks more like an elephant toy. Not really the same thing :D
@@wurrkop Those are awesome! It's a keeper for sure!
I recently bought again (cause I lost my original painted mini) T'char Dragon of flame and Fury from Ral Partha. Can't wait to paint it again!!
oh yeah.. the Chaos War Mammoth was my absolute dream back in the day.
.... "back in the day" Awww man, really!? I hate time.
Jonathan Hills I mean, 2002 was 18 friggin years ago, sooo... I mean, thatâs a good chunk o change if u ask me, def worthy of âback in the dayâ imo and Iâm into my thirties so it ainât like Iâm all that green round the gills lol
@@jtfspeirs1 Dude don't get wrong, it was a lament not a contestation.
WOWSER ! I guess I better put my hand up :) Dracolich was painted by my fair hand . Picked up at a bring & buy waaaaay back in the mist of time. She sat on our fire place for many years and eventually sold her on eBay
The quality of your videos is great Emil, love the variety of topics. đđ
My favourite model of all time is "The Compleat Adventurer" A dwarf from games workshop that carried everything...including the kitchen sink.
I'm running low on brushes because I am too inspired to keep painting from watching your videos! This was awesome, man - I love these classic old school minis!
Love a good oldhammer throwback! Just finished painting up a bunch of metal House Goliath dudes from the old Necromunda, to use in Kill Team. I even modelled one of the new Ogryn models to match his buddies, mohawk and all (see display picture)!
Brooshes! i need more brooshes! Also, the metal thunderhawk is super bonkers. i remember when that came out :D
I always wanted the Armorcast Gargant, there was one at my LGS back when I was younger. To this day I still comb the internet for one..
I'm 13 years old I've just started Warhammer 40K, I cant afford brushes since they cost around 30 dollars in my area and getting these would be a welcome surprise :)
Lachlan Adams not a lot of 13 year olds into Warhammer. Welcome to the few
Dont buy the GW brushes
You don't need the expensive GW ones mate look on places like amazon and you can pick some up for way cheaper. :)
Cheap synthetics from an art store are less than 2⏠a piece where I live. You need a few.
Don't get suckered by branding.
Brushes are important, but there is no point getting expensive ones unless you know how to look after them (most of us have to learn that the hard way), and really need them. In which case you will want a set of 'OK' brushes anyway for dry brushing and other stuff that can be hard on brushes, bulk painting, when your mate wants a try, etc.
As a beginner, I would suggest two medium quality sets would be better value than one good one. As you get a feel for which brushes you actually prefer you can then buy fresh good brushes for particular jobs. This way you will only need one or two good brushes and they will last much longer. All the best with your new hobby!
What a fun video idea, haven't seen others like it. Thanks for all the great content!
Bloodbowl goblin cheerleaders are one of my favorites.
That Ral Partha âDragon of Dragonsâ came out the year I graduated high school. Wow, Iâm old! And so are many of my brushes.
I picked up that set a few years back for 30$ at a flea market.
This is completely overlooking the entire line of "Unseen" Battletech miniatures. The designs that were originally from robotech and lost the the merry go round of lawsuits between Harmony Gold and other licensees.
My god...Ral Partha miniatures bring back so many memories. I started painting on Ral Partha minis and had collected so many of them back in the day. What I would give TODAY just to have my collection back from the 80's. As for the brushes...hell yeah I'm in. Can always use a great set of new brushes, especially since I don't use an air brush.
I spent so much time already looking at old photos of forgotten minis... Some of them dont even look outdated, I hate that they are not made anymore.
Thanks a lot for this video, it was a pure puff of nostalgia :p
One of my favorate is the snotling pumpwagom
1:40 *nerd screams* The Dawi Zharr are my favorite lore faction aswell :D Their lore is badass. I can't wait for Total Warhammer 3 (fingers crossed for Ogre Kingdoms and the Dawi Zharr)
Great video, I've seen the gunship in person, massive.
Great video Squidmar. It was great seeing what out of print or limited edition minis there are.
If I had the money, I would totally start a gaming miniatures museum. That would be awesome.
My one and absolute favorite mini is king Alrik on shield. Heâs the one that got me into the game.
Heâs not even rare but still so cool!
I really enjoyed this kind of video, Iâm basically a new one in this world so knowing this kind of thing are really interesting
i use to play warhammer, back in the day before job wife kids mortage and i now find myself watching alot of youtube videos about painting playing lore about wargamming. Your channel was the hook, thankyou?
Thanks mate! Thats how i got back to it as well :) hope you're here to stay
I have quite a few minis from the 1980s. I was such a frequent mail order customer for Citadel Miniatures that I was sent a Limited edition Citadel Miniatures mug one Xmas. I'm sorting out my small room in preparation for starting painting again after many years and would love a new brush set to get me started.
Cool to see you branching out into new styles of videos!
Can always use more brushes because these owls ain't about to paint themselves.
I love you content! Those brushes would be awesome on my hobby desk! đđ»
Thank you for another awesome video, Loving all your work and your how 2 tips and videos. You have guided me back into minitures and painting after 22 years of absence. Keep doing what you do, you rock.
Some of the designs of these dragons are actually pretty awesome. I'd love to have one but not sure I could do it much justice yet, need to practice more painting XD. Also, I love tis channel so much!!!
Personally it'd be the Marienburg landship for me.
Awesome stuff! Would very much love to see another video like this! Especially with the old D&D stuff! :D
At the Warhammer fantasy tournament i used to go to, there was one guy who has the Mammoth, which was also masterfully painted. He always had it standing next to the battlefield, which really was gnawing on your spirits to be victorious in that battle.
I would like to grab those brushes to kick start my Star Wars legion!
I am getting my daughter into Kill Team, extra brushes would rock.
Oooh I would love to see more videos like this in the future, this is amazing !
Those brushes will be ideal to gift to my son to try and get him interested. Great vid, many thanks
the brush set is really neat, got one for myself (so if you pick me by accident, just pick another ;) )
Big thanks for one of the best channels in the hobby - and you're Scandinavian! What's not to like :-)
Scandinavians have been proved to be overall 90% hotter than the rest of humanity.
I recently got back into painting miniatures, so the brushes would be a Great helping hand to try all the techniques i am learning from your Channel!
Looking to get me some new brushes!! I've been in the hobby for now my third year and I didn't learn about proper maintenance until later so my brushes, though functional, are a bit "seasoned". I've upping my paint collection and recently added an airbrush setup (thanks to this channel), I've neglected my poor brushes. I've been watching your videos from the nearly the beginning of the channel and would have loved if these videos were around when I got started. I'm glad I see the channel growing and interacting with other of my favorite channels on CZcams and I look forward to see more and more content from Squidmar Miniatures!!
I could use these brushes, since my girlfriend, who is learning to paint, is going through mine way too quickly :D
As a career programmer, the video title means something different to me. đ Always love when I see crossovers between two of my passions.
I love knowing that you've managed to not only obtain and paint a Thunderhawk
Love the old school Ral Partha minis! My first painted mini was Ral Partha half-orc assassin. He's sitting in my old grade school cardboard pencil box :) Thank you for sharing these!
I was actually eating a cookie during the giveaway part and felt kind of called out :D
ONE OF US! ONE OF US! :D
Jena Orechiel is an amazing 54mm Inquisitor model that I can't, for the the life of me, find on Ebay anymore.
One was sold just a few days ago :P
Always fun to see old minis, the Thunderhawk always makes me smiles, man that thig must be an absolute pain to build. Love the Chaos War Mammoth, so much so I have one sitting at the bottom of my pile of shame, along with boxes of Chaos Marauders. One day when my painting skills are acceptable enough this bad boy will get built and painted as it really should be terrorising the Old World.
This video takes me back. I can remember looking at my friends dadâs collections and old models hanging around in game shops when I was a bit younger. I myself have just started out as a miniature painter and have released my first video to youtube, and i also have very low quality brushes ;)
The answer to the cookie question is ânot enoughâ. Never enough cookies to be had!
That time I lost my bretonnia grail reliquae when moving... I'am still miffed about that.
Allways need more brushes, the GW ones I have are getting split ends
Thanks for all the good informative videos , you and tabletop minions got me playing and painting !
I had a warhammer fantasy chaos metal army... They were so beautifull... The war horses were amazing... Like the metal flamers... Now Im starting a imperial guard army, tempestus scions and valhallan. I would love those brushs! Thank you for your sharing of know how with us! Thank you!
Local man flexes on push-fit peasants his rare miniature collection (2019, colorized)
Imagin that thunderhawk fell of the table.
itd break the floor
One of the people at my local hobby shop dropped his Thunderhawk and it broke beyond repair so he converted it into terrain
I love your painted minis and this video was a very cool change of pace. Thanks
Back to the hobby after....16 years I guess. And I am glad that now there are a lot of very interesting channels like yours that help me to step up my painting every day. And, of course, a set of good brushes can't hurt!
I have one of those Malifaux minis sitting on my painting table now.
1:42 (Year?) GW Chaos Juggernaught (~$300)
4:20 1997 GW All metal Thunderhawk Gunship ($ A new army, or 2, or 3 or 4 )
5:27 1982 - 1992 Ral Partha Limited Edition Box Sets (metal dragons) (~$100 - $300)
7:03 2002 Forgeworld Resin Chaos War Mammoth ($ ??)
8:44 2012 Malifaux Through the Breach Kickstarter rewards (~$74)
9:00 2010 Gen Con Miss Malifaux ($30 - $80)
8:56 1995 Ral Partha Draco Dracorum ($100 - $1000)
10:52 2004 GW Bloodbowl Lizardman cheerleader ($75)
That dragon is amazing! Love the mammoth too. Thanks for the cool throwback video!
I need more brushes so I can tape them to my wrists and paint multiple minis at the same time á(àČ çàČ á)

I just found your channel actually! A couple of my friends recommended you to me, and I quite enjoy your content. Keep up the good work mate.
Even rewatching these videos i get a giant hit of nostalgia. I really like this video format. You should do this but in a series. Focus on each faction separately.
Why do people open everything with their kitchen knives. Does no one have pocket knives anymore?
I know right
My grandpa said a real man always carries a pocket knife. I feel naked without one.
@@jakeapplegate6642 I always carry 2 a larger and a smaller. And the fact is you don't realize just how much you will use a pocket knife until you start carrying one.
I've discovered your videos recently and I absolutely love what you're doing! Big fan of the "paint bravely" stuff and those new brushes just might help me do that âïž
Sweet video dude its a nice look into the history of gaming miniatures, I've recently gotten back into the hobby myself and could really use some nice brushes!
Thanks dude keep up the good work!
Seriously trying to up my game when it comes to painting. I stumbled upon your videos one day and instanly subscribed. I've learned a few next level painting tips from this channel and always look for the new episodes. I think I could use some next level brushes to help aid in my journey. Plus my brushes are all dead. Love your channel!
Man, I once owned a thunder hawk kit, and the box it came in. Sold it after about three months as just never got round to building it and the idea of painting it filled me with dread. Wish Iâd kept it now!!
As if Iâm not spending enough on Kickstarter - now youâve got me looking at rare collectables! Gonna need to moonlight for this hobby soon ;-) Nice research, and itâs cool to see some of this stuff that happened before I came to the Miniature Realm. The brushes would, of course, be nice. Keep up the good work.
Another awesome video, Emil! I want those brushes to help me procrastinate at university.
I remember the old Ral Partha minis. When I first started painting, Ral Partha paints were what I had to work with as well.
I recently got back into the hobby after a long break - and so I could really use those brushes ;) CZcamsrs like you are such a great source of knowledge and inspiration, I wish you would have already made videos back in the day!
BTW, We have some old Ral Partha miniatures around the house but Iâm not touching them until I get better! So keep teaching us new stuff ;)
Great list, has a few of my favorites as well. Cheers.
Cool video mate , I still have a lot of my GW minitures and magazines from the early 90s it's cool to look back at them and see how much has changed and progressed over the years
Loving the videos. I've been struggling to get motivated to paint but you and miniac and Lukesaps do give me the kick start I need to try new things and keep it interesting. Thanks man!
I'm just getting back in to building and painting miniatures again and your videos are very inspiring, keep up the good work!
That mammoth looks absolutely amazing, I would love to own one of those.
Thank you for this wonderful channel!! Keep up the good work!!
Great video, man. Always looking forward to your next upload.
Great brushes and great videos thank you
Literally subscribed yesterday. Your videos are very informative and entertaining, thanks a lot. Those brush would help a lot considering I just started :)
Just found your channel recently. Really enjoying the content. Subscribed, and looking forward to more!
some of those models are crazy! great video.
Hearing about rare lizardmen cheerleader while assembling lizardmen blood Bowl team. That MUST be a sign!
All of this is new to me as I picked up my first models 2 years ago. Cool look back. I can't imagine trying to build that thunderhawk...
Now that I am done with wedding planning (got married this past Sunday) when I get home from the honeymoon I can get back to painting miniatures, so some nice new brushes would be great!
I eat a lot of paint so the larger brushes included in the set would be great to have
Man i love waking up to your videos, sets a good tone for the whole day
What a great Video!!
I would like to see some more of these!
Great trip down memory lane .. it would be good to see one similar about games from the past too .. brushes are always a welcome to a miniature painter no matter what you play :)
So many blasts from the past. I remember being about 11 or 12 and a bloke sat in my local GW, building a METAL Thunder Hawk... I thought it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen. Not sure if they are rare (probably are) but I'd love to get hold of THE original Rouge Trader 'Beakie' Marine, I think they reissued it in 2016... damn now my finger is hovering across that Buy Now button!!
