  • I Highly Recommend this NEW M1/M2 Mac Mini Docking Station
There are a huge number of hubs available that can add extra connectivity to the Mac Mini and some that allow you to add more storage too.
This brand new Mac Mini dock from Minisopuru definitely stands out from the Mac Mini hub crowd.

Thanks to @Jamic9 for bringing an issue with the UK Amazon link to the dock to my attention. The best option for those in the UK currently is to grab this dock directly from Minisopuru's website. The link is above.

Thank you for this video and for the video of the previous version of this dock. Can you however let us know your experience with the SSD disconnecting frequently based on the Amazon reviews? both versions have the same issues where the drive disconnects, therefore, the files become corrupt. I would want to purchase something like this item, however, if i am letting influencers convince me of how good the product is, do you also experience drive disconnecting? thanks!

The SSD isn’t going to be anywhere close to the speed of the onboard SSD. The data transfer rate of the dock is 1,250MBps. The internal buss speed of a Mac Mini M2 is 6,000 MBps. Putting a NVMe Gen 4 M.2 SSD in one of these isn’t going to make it go any faster either, the limit is the USB 3.1 Gen 2’s top speed. To make use of the NVMes a Thunderbolt 3 or 4 connection would be better 5,000MBps
Also, there doesn’t seem to be any cooling for the SSD. That’s going to be an issue.

6000 Mbps ???? No way I got the M2 and it gives me max 2500 write and 1800 read...I bought a ugreen 40gbps enclosure and I get 3500 externally

You are talking about the M2 pro

It also depends on the storage I got 256...the higher the better numbers...but externally for me is better

Apple pricing is just getting ridiculous now. As you say, storage is (and always has been) a complete rip off. But I can't get over the Studio Display - not only is the base price disgustingly expensive, they want another £400 quid or so if you want to be able to move it up and down, instead of just tilting it. I had my heart set on the Studio Display and the Mac Studio, but on principle, I am not spending almost 4 grand on it. Instead, I will get the base model Mac Mini and a third party monitor - should cost about £1k or so in total. I like Apple products, but they are just unnecessarily greedy. I wonder what Steve Jobs would make of it if he was still alive...
