This is incredible knowledge that every health practitioner should be sharing with patients. Dr. Bush, I have followed you for years and have great wisdom in my health joint because of people like you. My family and friends call me a "health nut" but I call myself a vessel for nutritional wisdom. What a great panel....thank you all and someday I hope to work alongside some of you!

What a brilliant webinar. Thank you! As a recently graduated nutritionist - I try to grapple with what I was taught, what is put out there, so many different perspectives and theories and yet I cant help but think how over complicated we have made all this. To listen to all these perspectives in this webinar, I truly kept getting a hell yes and goosebumps of validation towards the end. Thank you to all you brilliant minds for taking it back to basics.

And the importance of diversity in diet and not focusing on eliminating one certain food to label yourself. Please keep the info flowing in. We are listening out here where food comes from. Mmmm...pondering what I heard, interesting. Love Dr. Zach. Love him. Seriously, as someone that struggles with weight, I disagree with "giving ourselves a break" as the kind Dr. Pete suggest towards the end. I've finally learned that "life's not a hack", we must do the work. Taking it easy only encourages us to be lazy. If I fall off the wagon, I love myself enough to get back on...it is because I do love myself that I make choices that honors myself and impose self-discipline. Hugs to all.

Zach; Here in NS, since it's a northern climate, folks can't always eat in season. Some of us can/bottle stone fruits such as peaches, pears and plums. We make apple sauce and we freeze berries such as blue, black, rasp and straw. I appreciate the 4 'rules': 1] Eat Organic 2] Eat less 3] Eat in season and 4] Eat local, but, none of these ought to be a mantra for eating, let alone all of 'em. A truly great presentation, Zach! Will be participating in your webinar today.

This was a lovely webinar. And, I believe as Zach Bush tried to point out, women would be better served if we didn't view menopause as a time when our hormones are in "crazy decline!" Also this is not a time when we need to "miss progesterone!"
Our bodies know what to do if we live in balance and the decline in hormones must be part of a perfect plan!

I am 65. I have been getting 3-4 day migraines since my early 50s, peaking at 55-58, going on for 5-6 days at a time, on a 2 to 3 week cycle. This happened to my mom, and my sister at menopause as well.
I know it is tanking hormones. But no PCM or headache specialist addresses the hormones. All want to Rx them away, including antidepressants. 🤔😬
I take sumatriptan for individual headache days during the month. Because if the headache gets beyond onset, it becomes debilitating for 4 to 6 or more days. I call them my heart attack pills. Because this is the feeling they give, but they do help with the headaches, much of the time.
My sister, more willing to take pharmaceuticals, has tried just about every headache "cure" out there. She takes gabapentin daily, besides sumatriptan, because she still gets headaches.
      So, I DO miss progesterone!

No mention of fruit/fruitarian, or raw plant based, or foods that contribute to mucus production, cleansing the body, etc. So I'm still up in the air about how to get the body healthy, and then once health is established, taking it from there and incorporating some grains, or cooked veggies etc. Some say eating anything cooked is poison, no other species eats cooked food, etc. So still confused about it.

It hear that the ability to cook starch as been key in the human evolution. I'm always cautious when the notion of what is 'natural' comes up. There's plenty of things that humans do that sre not found in a natural state, but it doesn't mean they have a detrimental effect. Plus, there is a great wealth of evidence suporting what ealthy eating is about. Wondering what cave men ate or not, is somewhat irrelevant in todays world. I suppose not many of us would like to have a cave man' life anyways.

I was listening to a show with Chef A.J and Dr John McDougall.
He was asked about the concept of diversity of Plants. He completely rejected the concept and insisted that simply by eating Potatoes you will have more than enough diversity in the Microbiome.
Is he locked into his views too strongly, or does he in fact have it correct?

    • @searchingforwonder
      @searchingforwonder Před 3 lety +3

Perhaps you could be ok, perhaps not. I think it might depend on how your potatoes were grown, what was the vitality of the soil that they were grown in. Does the potato actually have all the nutrients needed based on these things? I wander how often the nutrition levels are retested to validate what we see on a bag of potatoes. It would not surprise me in the least to find a perfect potato grown in fantastic soil might well supply all we need. But I don't trust that the food is grown that well any longer, even the organic etc. So I imagine that diversity of foods helps to ensure access to more opportunity to take in a diversity of nutrients from multiple soils. To some extent I wonder also if our body might get lazy and be less able to adapt if it is always digesting the same thing, if that food was no longer available (say a potato blight) would our body be less able to adapt to new sources without weeks or months of difficulties. Each to their own journey and experiences, I enjoy the diversity aspect but I couldn't say with authority if one or the other is better. Good luck on your explorations of these topics.

I was very disappointed in the way you and your guests simply dismissed or ignored oxalates. You are teaching about the importance on the microbiome in processing of food and asymilation of nutrients into the body. Oxalate toxicity from build up of oxalate crystals in the tissues appears to be a result of a microbiome that is lacking in organisms capable of degrading oxalates in food, primarily plants. Glyphosate, antibiotics and other chemicals create this situation. I would agree that the internet has this whole topic very wrong. I was hoping you would take it very seriously. Do you know Susan Owens? I suggest you get together with her. She could add to your knowledge base.

This panel is why people in the US are obese. Calories in calories out means nothing to diabetics and body builders. They have one thing in common, they are trying to control insulin. Diabetics and cancer patients are given drugs and are not educated in nutrition. I've listened until the end and I'm not in anyway more educated. There are Drs that get educated and they have channels. Dr. Berg and Dr Fung.
I have to say that I'm embarrassed by what these women had to say about menopause because so many women know nothing about insulin control, the are given drugs.
People identify with ways of eating that work for them. Learn the difference between an endomorph and an mesomorph, it's a good place to start. Can't enjoy much if you don't have health. Most of all stop catering to big pharma and pushing drugs instead of educating yourself.
