Destination Unscripted travels to the Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills, California. Construction was completed on the Greystone Mansion in 1928. The estate was a gift from oil tycoon Edward L. Doheny to his son, Edward "Ned" Doheny, Jr., and his family.
Now owned by the City of Beverly Hills, California, the Greystone Mansion is available for events both private and corporate. It is free to tour the gardens during the day and the city opens the three weekends a year in November.
"Dead Ringer" in 1964 staring Bette Davis was filmed at Greystone. Actually a pretty good movie costaring Karl Malden and Peter Lawford.
Spider-Man was also filmed there

For those of you mentioning the desire to tour the inside, you could do that pre-Covid the 4(?) times per year. The Friends of Greystone is a volunteer organization that holds open house events. Tickets are typically available on Eventbrite.
Used to enter this mansion at night many times in the late 70s early 80s. Never saw the kitchen before nor did we ever see the tape outlining the site of the dead bodies. Stayed one night in the mechanic's room which was near the fire house in an upstairs apt. and it was so quiet and scary. There also was a pool in the woods that had been cemented with a great dressing paviliion. The ultimate west coast Great Gatsby Mansion.

Very interesting mansion. Lot of history there.
I am shocked that no one mentioned the weekly exposure this estate recieved in the 80s for 4 years. This was the tv home of Wilton Knight, the founder of The Foundation for Law and Government, the chief asset being a tall Micheal Knight and his black car KITT. Knight Rider featured plenty of exterior shots of the estate during its run.
Why not show the floors and the stair railings closely so people can appreciate the details you are giving?

I visited Greystone with my late mother, it is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!! the wood work is amazing that it still is there!!!!! I don't think people appreciate this home or the history, if you aren't allowed in, ok, deal with it!!! The rest is spectacular!!!!!!!!! AND MOST IMPORTANT, IT WS A HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a crime to paint over the beautiful hand carved balustrades and paneling. They did a beautiful job sandblasting that awful paint off and restoring the carved woodwork back to its original beauty. Mr. Doheny hired the perfect architect with impeccable taste. Greystone is the most beautiful large house I've ever seen. All that hand carved woodwork and inlaid marble and wood floors are so beautiful. Mr. Doheny was such a good father to gift his as son such a magnificent house. What a terrible tragedy he was murdered and didn't get the chance to enjoy his father's gift.

I went to school there when it was the American Film Institute in the 1970s. They didn't even show the tennis courts or pool area. Always fun to recognize it in film an television shows...

Madame X starring Lana Turner, exterior - opening scene, was filmed at the Letts mansion on Charing Road in Bel Air. It would later be bought by Hugh Hefner, who turned it into the world famous Playboy Mansion West.

You are correct, most do. Been in a few that don't, but for the most part they do.
Anything that is massive and a large undertaking usually comes with great sacrifice somewhere during the project.
A friend and I visited there that day.
It was a beautiful and rather warm almost hot day.
There a Bay Area fire we could see the smoke as we drove home.

We talked to the city of BH about that and offered them a suggestion.
Have designers pay to furnish each room with their name on each.

No portion of Greystone mansion appears at all in Star Trek the motion picture. However it does appear for a moment in Star Trek Into Darkness

You are correct! Exteriors filmed at Castle Hill in Ipswich, Massachusetts while some of the interiors were filmed at the Greystone Mansion.

Actually it's called greed and corruption paying for Fabulous wealth! Doheny Sr. was heavily Involved and implicated in the infamous Teapot Dome Scandal.
It's sad disturbing to know that 9 months after that mansion was completed, his son was murdered In 1 of the newly completed guest rooms.

I and a few friends spent the night there in the 1980”s we were let in by discloses person. The bowling alley was original wood with hidden bar behind wooden wall. Blood stain was still visible in Mr. Doheneys room.
If that’s, indeed, the case-thank goodness people can live their lives openly today without fear of homophobia.
