    Video title should be "How to stream", period.
    This is among the best tutorials on CZcams to explain all the different parts, including rare stuff like switching cameras on the fly or even lighting tips.
    I'm pretty sure a gaming streamer could learn a lot from this, too.

I usually just record songs with two different track recordings of the same guitar part panned one side and play over panned on the other side, would this work the same for creating backing tracks for streaming or is there another easier solution? Or whether just playing to an already made backing track in mono would do?

    Hey Jules! I'm sure you're not gonna read this, but I'll give it a shot. I tried setting up my stream, I have no amps or pedals, so I tried to set it up using Bias FX and while monitoring the audio through OBS, I couldn't find a a way to pick up the signal from Bias FX, I was hearing only the dry signal from the interface (a focusrite solo 2nd gen). I've been doing some research for a while and didn't find a solution (every forum that people were talking about it, their solution was to simply use an amp/pedal). Is there a possible way to stream using VST?

I'd like to start streaming, mixing games and guitar playing, I'm going to get a focusrite 2i2 3rd gen, but I have a question, If I'm using the same computer for gaming and playing and perhaps I want to play something during gameplay, would it affect performance?
    I intend to rock on a Ryzen 7 5800x, 32gb Ram (2x16), 1tbssd, 2tb hd, and a gtx 1060 (for now... from a previous build, prices are still crazy). And I still haven't made a purchase between a mixer and a audio interface, I'd like to get both but can't right now since I'm just beginning.... anyway, can anyone share an insight or perhaps give me a any tip? thanks a bunch

  • @devilhorns22
    @devilhorns22 Před 2 lety

    I'm assuming I already know the answer to this question, but I'll ask anyway for some extra feedback. I've tried streaming using virtual cables and DAWs w/ BiasFX and the issue I run into is since the Focusrite 2i2 is dual input but single output, it distorts my mic as well. But I'm guessing since you're changing the guitar signal directly with pedals that it shouldn't affect my mic right?

    So it's picking up my guitar, but not the distorted VST I got (Will Putney). It doesn't matter if I'm in a recording program or running the VST alone, the stream isn't registering the distortion at all. Got a fix for that? I did exactly as the tutorial says.

    • @JulesConroy
      @JulesConroy  Před 3 lety

      It's tough because audio being processed on the computer with a vst needs to be rerouted back through the computer with another interface for best latency so usually it's better to have the fx going in with like a helix/Axe fx/etc. It's possible to do Scarlett like interface to vst to stream but it is super finicky and almost specific to each computer in some cases. Try another interface taking in the output after the guitar is processed, seeing if the vst will create its own output, or try using asio4all as the vst output and have obs/xsplit read that as a microphone.

    • @RyanHarville
      @RyanHarville Před 3 lety

      @@JulesConroy So I figured it out! There's a program called ASIO Link Pro (in case someone reading is having the same problem) and all I needed to do in my DAW was choose "ASIO Link Pro" and it fixed it entirely.

      change to "output AND listen".

  • @pedroRodriguesMD
    @pedroRodriguesMD Před 2 lety

    My main problem is making guitar and vocals with their own effects into the stream. With my Line 6 POD HD you can play with no latency guitar or vocals. And there is a preset with both, but no effects allowed (that would be the problem solved!) So I have to get a mixer, use the microne with no effects on vocals (I used delay in the albuns) dry voice, not my fav... And them a cable from the Line 6 not connected via usb this time, into the other channel in the mixer, and then the music that is in the computer, the backtracks (i have them, drum, bass and synths) I would have to put them in another mp3 reading device, because when you use ASIO4all, the device gets restricted. Cant play mp3 from the laptop, that at this time is runing OBS, recording video and recording audio too.
    Wait...I can set up a track in a daw with all the backtracks...NO.
    God damnit!

  • @JackVGM
    @JackVGM Před 4 lety +1

    If I’ve just got my guitar and an audio interface, how do I get it to pick up the sound of a VST rather than just the clean sound?
    Edit: I've got some VST's installed but they're not appearing in the menu on OBS, do they have to be in a certain folder?

    • @JulesConroy
      @JulesConroy  Před 4 lety

      You would have to find a way to use a standalone version of the VST. Ezmix does this where you can open it up and have it route to an output then you could have OBS pick up that output. You won't be able to use the VSTs inside OBS. As I said in the description though, this might lead to some latency issues which is why I like to have a pedal handle the work of the guitar sound.

    Don't point lights at cams, just light the sources.
    The OBS/SLOBS audio meters are complete garbage, do not trust it. They're 'clipping' well before actual clipping. Mon and verify levels before OBS.
    That interface is ok, doable but limited (also, driver issues). It is not the "best out there". Ok? RME, Motu, apogee, heck even the Behringer XR series will be a drastic upgrade.
    Don't use 'webcams' if you can help it, invest in better quality/feat/function.
