I like the original endings. You see Kelvin and Virginia get on the helicopter. And you have a choice to stay or leave. But this new ending, they're like "screw you!" If you decide to stay. It kind of feels out of place and out of character for them.
Poor Kelvin. I guess he doesn't have family. It was sad watching him in a depressing looking room trying to build a house much like on the island.
The new Virginia ending was really odd to me. She has fully functional limbs and they decide to just hack them off. Then get her almost immediately pregnant right afterwards. She looked at least four months. I guess no recovery time or pain from the missing limbs? Then, in my opinion, in the game Virginia comes across as having limited mental capacity similar to Kelvin. She doesn't speak and only does simple tasks, just to a little bit of a greater degree than Kelvin. She comes across as child like to me. So, it feels really weird to have her suddenly pregnant and possibly married in a very short amount of time. I feel they should have expanded the time and shown that she has regular mental capacity before throwing it in.

It's ableist to infantilize both Kelvin and Virginia, which the game infantilizes Kelvin at the end. Kelvin has brain damage but he is not a child, it is okay that they take care of him though. As for Virginia, I think they just didn't want to have voiced lines for her. It is super weird that they hacked off her limbs just to make her appear normal. I wish that they had made Kelvin less child-like and had let Virginia keep her extra limbs. I think the pregnancy thing was a little rushed but whatever.

There is a cutscene with her entering inside to helicopter. And second without her like here (when she is killed ingame). Looks like this video is made with wrong cutscene piecesOr devs do a mistake with 1.0 release.

i've never play sotf before but i think that they were unable to fix kelvins brain damage to the point he could talk normally or just behave normal
