If you heard the recruits that Cal had lined up this year (which hopefully they follow his Janky car salesman self to Arkansas). None of them said I want to come to Kentucky and win a Championship. They all said we want to come play for Cal so we can go to the NBA. He’s sent 35 while at Kentucky which is tied for the most of any one coach at a single school. Yay pay him on the back. But he won’t send half that many to the NBA not being at Kentucky. Kentucky sells itself. Now we need a coach who wants to get banners hanging from the rafters. The more I think about what Cal has done and the talent we’ve had in Kentucky during his time the more it pisses me off. We couldn’t win a championship with John Wall and Boogie Cousins on the same team. We’ve had 35 go to the NBA under cal and only 1 team won a 🏆 thank you to Anthony Davis and that squad. The would’ve won that year without a coach lol

This is the best move for both parties. He wasn’t the guy for Kentucky any longer. Like they said on the panel, I think he’s gonna do great at Arkansas because he’s going to be rejuvenated, but he wasn’t doing that for us. His voice was stale, his scheme didn’t work, his recruiting wasn’t even the same at times. Best if we just go our separate ways, but you better believe that Kentucky basketball will find the right guy.
That whole shit show, brotherly love interview with Calipari & Barnhart, really reaks now. Take Mitch with you Cal.

As his harshest critic for 9 years, as a Kentuckian, and fan for 56 years, I will applaud him when he comes back to Rupp. He walked amongst us for many years, he wanted to be the coach of the greatest thing going.
From his hiring press conference in 2009, when he said, “I recruit talent over experience”, I knew we were in trouble, because in that sentence, you throw out history and knowledge. Should have been called out then.
But still I kinda like the guy for he is a Kentucky Colonel, and he called the bluegrass home, I will show some form of appreciation. Same with Pitino.
Hire Pitino as a stop gap to get a proper succession plan in place to hand the program over to a long-term coach.
Perfect plan! I think Pitino, John Pelphry, Mitch Barnhart, needs to fly to Chicago and let Rick advise Billy Donavan to come to Kentucky and have Pel in the wings after Donavan. Billy would listen to Rick.
Bring in Nate Oats, Billy Donovan, Brad Stevens, or Jay Wright.

Well, sometimes you get what has been demanded. Too many Kentucky fans were screaming for his removal. Now, that wish is granted: gone! I do not expect recruiting to remain at the same level but it's possible, heck, even likely that the coaching of the players will improve. Calipari was a great hire for Arkansas. What Barnhart does now is critical to Kentucky. They cannot blunder like UCLA...a blueblood that has quietly become irrelevant. The old Bluebloods, less Kansas, are not as dominant (championship year): North Carolina (2017), Duke (2015), Kentucky (2012), UCLA (1995). Newer Bluebloods: Connecticut and Villanova plus Kansas (incredible run of BIG 12 championships) have emerged as more dominant. BUT, Kentucky is still an A-1+ program. Choose wisely to keep that status. I think that either Nate Oats or Jay Wright would be a perfect fit. GBO!

I saw a really could tweet earlier. They said they were listing to the Matt Jones show and realized the coach could never be bigger than the program, and that Calipara was, or thought he was, bigger than the program. The team always needs to be first.
Pitino may have problems but one thing everyone must admit. He knows how to coach and he knows how to win.
I think cal ,deep down , despised BBN because he knew they were we tired of his shenanigans.

Gotta be Chris Beard for Kentucky. In 3 SHORT YEARS Beard turned Texas Tech around - won the Big12 regular season, Beard won Big12 coach of the year (twice) AND took Texas Tech to their first national championship game ever. Beard then went on to Texas to fix Shaka Smart's failing mess. In 2 SHORT YEARS Beard built a team that won the Big12 and made it to the elite 8. While Shaka at Texas before that missed March Madness 3 times and lost in the round-of-64 three times. Also Chris Beard comes from great coaching pedigree - assisted with Bobby Knight. One more thing - Beard replaced Tubby Smith at Texas Tech ... we all know Tubby right ;) It's time to get over the "baggage" that Ole Miss took care of and move on.

@@aaronrose5118 As an actual UK fan 4 life, easily forgotten 2019 before the SEC tournament and ultimately the NCAAs UK was easily a final 4 team, perfect mix of young and veteran players. Who knows what could have happened, the only 1 that could have beaten us was Kansas.

@@aaronrose5118 I'd almost agree with you except that 2019 team, my biggest fear is Bruce Pearl and or his Caliper of Coach someone who isn't made like Cal, he took all the pressure off his players and accepted responsibility for every single loss. He doesn't take the shots, rebound and he didn't leave until he was pushed out. The top of the top coaches see this too.

Come on with all the 5 stars over the last 5 years our record averaged 21-10. Auburn and Alabama averaged 22and23 wins over the last 5 years. Cal has been just AVERAGE. NBA feeder program.
I think Cal didn't want to be pressured out like Tubby. I also know that UK fans are tired of "Accidental Basketball." The dribble drive offense IS acidentall basketball. With the portal and NIL, players dont have to be a "one and done" to make money. Now, programs can build again. You are going to see players stay in school longer.
