Hi everyone, thank you for all your lovely comments as always….. 🙏
To the people that seem to be taking it personally and getting their knickers in a twist. I know his surname is Cushing, it’s my accent makes it sound like Cushion…. Please don’t lose sleep over it, it’s not the end of the world. 🙏
I quit wearing them ,,,no more twists and turns. As maggie once said 'rejoice'
More important things in life to worry aboot Poool hahaha ;)
You're not on your own, years ago there where quite a few people who called him Cushion including me, so don't worry about it.
Not kooooshingeee?
Who cares if it's cushion or cushing. Every one knows who the legend is. Don't stop doing an outstanding bjob paul . There are a lot of people out here that appreciate what your doing .me being one of many x
Knew a group of lads(fans) who went to find mr cushing,an elderly local lady said to them he was an old man and to please be repectful, they found his house but no one there..they were just about to leave and there he was walking up the road wearing a deerstalker hat,he had photos took and was welcoming to them, bless him, iconic actor x
He never stalked deers though he loved animals
Too congenial for his neighbourhood, it seems,,
Looking so much like Sherlock Holmes I bet.
I was a postman in Whitstable in the 80s, I delivered to Peter Cushing on many occasions, he would answer the door, have a little chat. Often saw him cycling around the town or sitting in the Tudor Tea Rooms. A really nice guy.
I was a postie in Herne Bay in the 80s/early 90s. I went to the Tea Rooms on numerous occasions and the rumour was it was owned by Peter Cushing.
No Just his favorite restaurant
I actually met Peter he was a massive supporter of Animal welfare and he attended a open weekend as he was a patron where i worked.
I had the honour of showing him around and chatting to him for 2 days it is a memory i will hold for ever, R.I.P Peter a true Gentleman and amazing actor
Chatting? In the 90s? Whit a 80yo man?? Cmon
Lucky!!!
I met Peter Cushing twice once in that tea room and he was nothing like you’d expect a film star to be he was just a lovely old man with perfect manners and he rode about on a clapped out old bone shaker of a bicycle. They certainly don’t make em of his class anymore.
I dont't think Peter ever considered himself as a movie star. that's how humble he was. Bless him.
What a sad state the cemetery is in. The council should show more respect.
Peter Cushing & Vincent Price together with Hammer Films scared the daylights out of us.
He was an amazing artist. He did a watercolour picture of his dog for my aunt when she found the lost pup
I lived in Whitstable for many years and have been to peters grave many times 🙂 I have spoken to him many times to such a lovely man ☺️❤️
He was a true actor that didn’t need to swear or curse to make a point like the modern actors do…… true acting…. Thank you
Peter Cushing was a one of never see his like again. been a fan for 50 years. There is not one actor today that compares to him. I know we are living in differant times .But the movies he and Christopher Lee made were the best times.
one of my favorites
There's an aura of peace in that neighborhood. I do get the feeling that Peter and Helen are blissfully together in the afterlife!
Helen was sure they would be.
And they are with Christopher Lee too
@@cynthiathomas6690 Yep, and Vincent Price also.
So sad that he felt his life after his wife Helen passed was just about passing time until he could be with her again. Perfect gentleman.
We dined in the tudor tearooms 33 years ago and Peter was sitting in his usual spot. They had a small vase with a rose in it on his table and he was eating his lunch.I didn't disturb him but he seemed a perfect gentleman.
I love Peter Cushing and Hammer Films. What an incredible talent and lovely gentleman.
yes
LEGEND... PETER CUSHING...x....
Peter Cushing was as you said known to be devoted to his wife and created and named a rose after her ❤... really appreciate what you are doing 👋👍🏻
I was born in whitstable & my dad used to tell us kids that when walking along the beach he would often bump into peter Cushing who was a wonderful man & would happily stop for a chat with my dad & people, I love this fine fine actor who is way beyond so called stars of today.
R I P our dearest friend.
walked passed his old house yesterday, wow luv to live there
@@stevestheboy1
Yes I totally agree.
Such a beautiful house & whitstable & its people are wonderful.
My fathers name was Edward atilla
I'm his eldest son & after splitting with my wife in march all I want to do is come back home to kent.
I'm a hgv driver so getting a job back home should be ok.
No one like kent people that's for sure
, my husband sent Peter a birthday card many years ago as he was a fan. To his amazement, he received a letter of thanks off him, how nice was that.
HE HAS MADE AND STARRED IN SO MANY FILMS BUT HE COULD PLAY ANY PART IN ANY FILM A BRILLIANT ACTOR WOW I CAN'T I CANT SAY ANYMORE HE WAS JUST SO GOOD AT WHAT HE DID :)
I've always loved Peter Cushing. 😍
One of my favourite people.
Carrie Fisher once said he was so nice she couldn't pretend to hate him.
Oh what a wonderfull and we'll respected human being he realy was thank you for all the memories you left us
Pity there aren't more people like him.
Seems like the real life Peter Cushing was the direct opposite of his characters and never played himself like a lot of people do - and that's a sign of a truly great actor. True immersion in his role, true devotion to his craft, then snap straight back out of it for his private life.
Grand Moff Tarkin in particular was a truly nasty piece of work.
A charismatic and talented actor ; an icon of the Hammer films ; a legendary duet with the great Christopher Lee, I love this classy gentleman; big respect !
I grew up watching these horrors, what a brilliant actor. An amazingly wonderful gentleman, so sad he lost his wife Helen so early.. rip Peter & Helen Cushing. Thank you Paul, beautiful and very heartwarming video xx
Cushing, price and Lee...the absolute legends of our horror films ..The scary moments of our dreams ..What a lovely tribute 💕Been to that pub a few times ..being a Kent person..seagulls love to come sit on your table ... Is sad the house seems unloved
Absolutely loved this video. It was lovely to hear what a gentleman he was. What a love story too.
Peter Cushing! Wow what a fascinating one to watch, big thanks Paul 😊
R.I.P. Peter, so many memories from my childhood of the great films you have left behind for history. ❤️🌟🙏
Hammer horror films kept me awake at night when I was a kid in the ‘70s, they were terrifying! Thank you for a very interesting and respectful insight into Peter Cushing’s life and death. He was a great actor. I learnt so much from you about him that I didn’t know.
I share the same memories Lisa, didn’t keep me awake though🙂
I have great memories of being maybe 7 yrs old and late on a Saturday night my late parents would let me sit up to watch the old horror films I remember seeing Frankenstein and the mummy and the Dracula's great memories since my parents have both passed on.
I grew up watching the Hammer films as an early teenager onwards too and was lucky enough to meet him when I was 17, in 1986, went to buy a copy of his autobiography and get it signed and he kissed my hand. That photo got in the local paper as I was dressed all goth and in a long black cape. He was a true gentleman. ❤️
Looking forward to this one, what a terrific actor, loved his films and I fondly remember him as Doctor Who back in the 60's. Sadly missed. RIP Mr Cushing
When was Peter cushion in dr who?
Back in the 60's. He made 2 films where he played Doctor Who. 1 Doctor Who and the Daleks, 2. Daleks - Invasion Earth 2150AD.
@@judis6224 Peter Cushing was Dr Who 🙂 Keep an eye out for Bernard Cribbins in the same movie as well 👍
Peter Cushing i loved him. What actors Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee were. They made some terrific films together. Athough i,m sure Peter was cremated. He resided in a nursing home in Kent i believe until he died. Look forward to this video Paul xx
He was really good at putting you on the edge, he is timeless and one of the best actors who ever lived
Totally agree andrew a brilliant actor 👍
No one lives there....????
My late father whom was a yacht designer and surveyor met him in Whitstable in the late 70's...Peter was with his friend who was having his boat surveyed by dad. According to my dad though a little frail was a real polite gentleman. Great vid Paul, nice one!
Thank you Paul so much for that I have loved Peter Cushing⚓⛵ since I was 11 I seen my first Hammer Horror movie Frankenstein Created Woman in that movie the oldest boy in Sound of Music played the young man who was Frankensteins assistant. Peter and Christopher Lee were my favourite actors in horror films
Both had an air of being complete gentlemen in their personal lives behind the actor
I miss them both fine people they were brilliant actors 💝💕 Peter was never a monster to me he was the misunderstood hero as Van Helsing and Baron Victor Frankenstein
RIP Sir Peter ⚓⛵🌹🦋with your Helen 💝💕
Loved the Dracula films with Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee they used to scare me half to death as a kid lol I was more hiding behind the pillow than watching the film 😂 and what a beautiful place it is.
Hi Paul, I live and used to work in whitstable for age concern, I got to know the people that lived in the same road as Peter and they all said great things about Peter, Great video thanks to Paul, I had heard his ashes were taken by the family !!! Once again thank you Paul 👍👍
Cushing was in my favourite and some of the most honest horror movies ever. The Amicus portmanteau’s ‘From Beyond The Grave’ & ‘Tales From The Crypt’ and the Hammer House of Horror episode ‘The Silent Scream’ are amongst the finest pieces of classic horror ever made.
I would totally agree with your statement - they were some of his best work.
I loved Peter Cushing, such a nice guy, his hammer films did scare me a bit in the late 70’s, although I was very young to be watching them, my brother who was older than me, dared me to watch them, I had nightmares for a while after. That cemetery is a bit of a riot, the councils should respect these peoples graves. RIP Peter and Helen Cushing 💐💐💐💐, thanks Paul xx
Always liked Peter, even when I was a child watching him on screen. There was a warmth about him that drew you in no matter what role he was playing.
RIP Peter and Helen … reunited again 🕊️🕊️
Hi Paul, our son is an artist and lived in Whitstable for a while. Whilst there he went into a cafe (presumably the Tudor cafe), and Peter was sat quietly in a corner reading his newspaper and didn't want to be disturbed. Nothing wrong with that as he was quiet and didn't want fame and fortune and all the trappings. Our son took us to see his house after he had passed away. Spoke to a couple of local shopkeepers asking about his grave and they both said the wishes of his family was not to disclose anything to anyone as they wanted privacy (fully understandable). We are avid Hammer film fans and especially loved Peter and Christopher Lee. Thanks for sharing this wonderful video as it has made our day. RIP Peter.
Noel it probably was the Tudor cafe as in 1990-1991 thereabouts, I went in there with my late grandparents and there he was sat in his rain mac having a cup of tea. My grandparents told me who he was and 11 Yr old me was in awe of this frail looking man who had lived such an amazing life. I live in Herne Bay so am local too x
@@vickymarsh5165 I went there circa 96 and visited the tea rooms. As I remember they were lovely friendly people and kept Peters seat as a tribute. (I sat in it). There is a story about this lovely old gentleman. During a severe snowstorm a lady was struggling along the road with heavy shopping and Peter came along and offered to help her carry it. He was elderly, well he was never big built was he? Yet he insisted but was having more trouble than the woman!
A real gent, an acting legend and someone who didn't have a nasty bone in his body.
Thank you for this wonderful video Paul ❤
One day in 1991, I was driving down a narrow lane in Whitstable to visit a friend. I could see an elderly gentleman ahead and he stepped aside to allow me to pass; as I passed the gentleman tipped his hat to me and smiled and I then realised it was Peter Cushing
What a gentleman ❤
Peter’s house in on the market now for £1.4 million having been renovated. Thanks for showing us this, I’m a big fan of all things Hammer.
My grandfather remembered Peter Cushing riding around on his bike, brilliant actor love the hammer films
I absolutely adored Peter as an actor , I have seen all his films and he was such an awesome actor loved him I really did xx
horror of dracula,loved this movie
If EVER there was a classic Van Helsing, Peter Cushing OBE was him. Apparently, he was a pure gentleman when not in front of the camera, too. Thank you for the upload: What a Hallowe'en treat! ❤
the best van helsing
My great grandmother Mary was walking down Coventry high street in the mid 70s with things to post and a bit of shopping, she tried to find a free hand to open the post office door and an arm flew past her head opened the door and said “After you my dear” It was Peter Cushing! They chatted in the post office queue. She said he was the most well mannered lovely gentleman that she’d ever met. Absolutely wonderful gentleman according to my great grandmother 👍
There was a fantastic joke several years ago about if Whoopie Goldberg had married Peter Cushion she would have been known as Whoopie Cushion lol. But as we all know, his name was Cushing, not Cushion, although depending on regional accents, it can indeed sound like Cushion. However his name is pronounced, he was an incredible actor and I can vividly remember growing up in the late 60's and 70's being terrified while watching various Hammer films that would be shown on a Saturday evening. As I got older, I discovered that in reality he was nothing like the characters he played, but was actually an incredibly warm, funny and gentle man. He never gave a bad performance in anything that he was in and no matter how bad a film might have been, he always gave 100%. A true legend who is still sadly missed. Thanks very much for posting this video Paul because I've always been curious about where he actually lived in Whitstable and have often thought about going there. Such a shame that his home is in such a neglected state and I hope that someone will eventually restore it.
I loved him, such a fantastic actor. He was partly who inflenced my.love of horrors. RIP 🙏
People need to pay attention these days years ago this is how people behaved and acted towards each other they don’t make them like they used to he’s a real gentlemen I have been a big fan of his for more years than I can remember even today I watch his film and own most of them check him out in the early 80s TV show Hammer house of horror absolutely superb viewing God bless you sweet prince never be forgotten.
I actually met him once when I was a girl. My dad was an avid stamp collector and we lived in Kent. He went to a philately shop in Whitstable and as I was with him, I was dragged along. We met Peter Cushing, who was the only other customer in the shop and he and my dad got talking. This was in 1969 and I was too shy to say much.
At the Whitstable Musuem, there are some more of Peter Cushing's personal possessions.
The inside of the Peter Cushing pub is amazing - over the bar there is an enormous still of Peter Cushing from the film Frankenstein.
Peter Cushing was my favourite actor. Such a legend, and very much missed.
This was awesome! My first wife was from Ilfracombe in North Devon, so I got to visit England four times back in the 90's. If I ever get to come back to England, I hope I get to visit Whitstable.
Both Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee used to scare the 💩 out of me growing up! Peter was an extremely talented and accomplished actor, who is, even to this day, very sadly missed. RIP Peter 🕯 and thank you, Paul, for taking the time to make this fantastic video. ❤
I loved those films too... my dear dad and me sitting together ❤️
Chris Lee scared me just as himself.. Peter Cushing was absolutely great ..Thanks Paul wonderful as always
an occasional friend of mine in the very early 90s. i used to meet him in the tudar tea rooms n chat. i also did some work for him on his librarys bookcases. i was at the church last thursday to pay my respects. thanx paul for doing peter proud

Hi loved watching this ,Peter and Christopher and Hammer films is what got me watching their films when I was 10 years old, my Mum let me watch them if the were on tv on a Saturday night as a treat, still love them now , thank you for doing this. Xx
So glad you have covered Mr. Cushing, always been very affectionate of his works. My Mum used to let me watch the Vault of horror and tales from the crypt, problem was I was still in infant/junior school. I am 44 now. Can’t mistake his dazzling blue eyes and he was always so thin bless him. I have looked at him years ago on Wikipedia and it’s good to see how it goes hand in hand with your video. Love your channel and you will soon be at 6 figures ❤️
Awesome Actor loved Peter Cushing then and now ! Thanks for the Podcast
Most impressive to say the least, how truly wonderful & researched this is dearest ☆🌟Paul🌟☆. Such efforts should never go unnoticed, many thanks.
What a great video 👏👏 Peter is so loved and such an amazing actor he could make a terrible film great as soon as he appeared on screen . I hope he is now at peace again with his beloved wife 🥰
Walked past the house where he lived with his wife in Whitstable many times...lovely man, great actor...RIP dear Peter..
A lovely sweet English Gentleman Bless you Peter and thank you for all the great moments on screen xx
I remember watching peter cushing and christopher lee as a child..scarey stuff way back then..Thank You for your lives..so enjoyable..
That was fantastic! What I liked most was how Peter Cushing fitted in so well and was able to lead a fairly ordinary life. I believe he had a rose created in memory of his wife.
I love horror movies. Grew up watching hammer horror. Such a great man, but lived a very simple life. Enjoyed it so much. Thank you.

I used to wait for my dad to come home late from the pub in the 70’s, creep downstairs unbeknown to my mum, sit cuddled up to watch House of Horror. Fantastic memories of those late actors❤️

@@kellydee2780 Me also, Hammer was my introduction to horror. Great childhood memories & nightmares. 👍
A true gentleman and an amazing actor who was a big part of my childhood , sadly missed.
Wonderful actor loved the many Hammer horror films he did. I would watch the horror double bill, on a Saturday night as a kid in the 1970s hiding behind the sofa great memories!
Loved all his movies back in day!!
He is a legend,,,thoroughly entertaining with not only hammer, but his earlier performances...
Back in the mid eighties I nursed Peter at The Kent & Canterbury Hospital. I was working nights at the time. He was such genuine man and absolute gentleman. It was in the days when patients were allowed to smoke on the ward. And with the overhead light on and wisps of smoke , his hollow cheeks he looked like he was on a Hammer House Set ! He loved to garden and as a tribute to his wife the Rose growers Association named a rose after Helen. He was absolutely delighted with that. I have been very privileged to have nursed a number of famous people.
Thank you Carol, that’s lovely to hear…… 🙏
@Carol Clark thx for the visual image you gave , was it lung cancer that Peter had?
@@muckle8 the ward I was on was Oncology

Peter was truly a great actor, and a great, humble, kind man. He wasn’t the same after his Helen passed in 1971, he could never get over the loss of her.
thanks for this video, I had no idea where he lived.
I remember an interview with Carrie fisher, she found it difficult to tell Peter in Star Wars he had a foul stench , because he was so kind and friendly.
May he rest in peace, he’s with Helen now .
May he rest in peace
Peter Cushing another great talented actor may he rest in peace 🙏😇
Hello Marie, I hope my comment wasn't taken as a form of invasion of your comments privacy. I'm here to make friends, how are you? Where are you from?
I remember being a terrified kid watching the hammer horror films. Peter was perfect for these types of roles and had that look as did Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee. He was a brilliant refined actor. As always it’s great to hear more about his life off screen and it seems as though those that met him held him in high regard. Excellently done Paul & rest easy Peter.
Thanks for uploading...I'm a big fan of Peter cushing and his films..What a true gentleman..

Peter Cushing was one Of the greatest horror people .love him in hammer horror got most of the horror films thanks paul.
Love the Hammer films - Lee and Cushing - Legends.
Thank you so much for this video. Peter is my all time favourite actor. And a true gentleman there is a CZcams video of Christopher Lee talking about Peter and Vincent price well worth seeing. When Peter was little his mum would dress him as a girl time to time. He had a role in the laurel and Hardy film chump of Oxford. Carrie Fisher said she found it hard to get angry at Peter when filming her scenes with him as he was such a nice man. During world war 2 Peter I think in the USA or Canada went to donate blood after the blood was taken he got up was walking out of the building and fainted. Once again thank you for this amazing video
My favourite so far .What a fabulous actor he was
Paul, thank you so much for doing this one. Mr Peter Cushing was my favourite actor when I was young ( still love seeing his films) no matter if the film was poor he always gave his best . We belong to a fan club on Facebook and it's got so big, as Mr Cushing has so many admirers. Loved every second watching this video, so a very big thank you.

Love your videos Paul, so interesting and so respectful. Found your channel when the lovely Paul O'Grady passed and have now watched nearly all of them, people I had forgotten and so good to be reminded of them. As for Peter, we lived near when I was a child and my old dad often used to come home and said he had seen Peter on his bike and Peter always waved. A proper gentleman.
