Iâm 41 yrs old and have lived in Texas and California and seen this equipment but never seen it in action. I never thought Iâd be so interested in hoof trimming but itâs quite fascinating! It brought me here to learn about silage, which you guys did a great job of explaining the process!! Never stop learning đ
Step two of silage later tonight hopefully if we get it finished. Huge crop which is great news. Thanks for joining us on our channel.
When I was young my grandfather had a croft...and all my uncles and a few of their friends used to help do this all by hand...the way that all of them used to get into a rythm to sythe to make it easier...when they were harvesting long hay all of us would have great fun chasing the mice...the cats went bonkers...didn't know which one to chase!!...no doubt when you look back you too will have great memories that will make you smile...now I wonder what day 28 will bring...or have you stopped counting...run out of fingers and toes!!
Great memory, I guess we are making memories every day. These are the memories of the time we didnât go to school for months. Yes, we have got all muddled with which day it is đ
You kids are so fortunate to grow up like you are, on a farm and enjoying life. I'm so happy for you all.
Thank you, we are very very lucky, especially at this time during lockdown. Hopefully we will be able to see our grandparents in their garden at a 2m distance after tomorrow. đ€đŒ
@@FarmingFiles oh that would be wonderful. As a grandmother myself, I know how much your granny misses you. I miss my grandson too. She will be so excited to see you.
The videos have made it easier which is great.
Penny, is Elvis still around? He Looks like a Sweety.
Thank you for sharing, you two awesome kids! Keep it up!
Thank you very much, we are loving making them so glad you are enjoying them.
I love you kids having a great time
Thank you, hope you are keeping well.
I loved seeing this. Those machines are fascinating. Loved the slow-mo!
Your two always make me laugh
Thank you so much we are glad to be able to make you and others smile. đ
@@FarmingFiles you certainly do.
You guys are really clever with transitioning. You guys are too cute. Funny as heck too. đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
Thank you!! đ
Nice job guys ... good job on showing what you do on your farm daily .... California, US đđ
Thank you, still at silage so video out tomorrow
Too fun! Kelly

Great video! I always wondered all the step to this process. Farms have lots of equipment. Wow! Video ideal, would love to see all your Motherâs art work and her painting her favorite cows! â€ïžđđŒâ€ïžđđŒâ€ïžđđŒ
Thank you. Weâll see if we could persuade her! She hasnât painted much since lockdown as the house is a bit busy!
That's a beautiful tractor!
Thank you, itâs driver Keiron keeps it very clean and tidy.
Greetings from Denver, Colorado! (USA) Including yours, the Hoof GP has directed me to 4 fabulous channels. I'm so glad to see what people in far away places are willing to share. It opens up the world a bit when I'm not venturing far from home. Thanks guys! I love your content, knowledge and Katie 's enthusiasm. đđđđ
Thank you so much for your kind words. Our aim was to let people know what we were up to during lockdown and I think it looks like it will continue after lockdown!!
@@FarmingFiles I hope so! The trick is coming up with ideas for more content. I guess just keep asking what people want to see. đ I like the general goofing around which shows up plenty, without even trying. đđ
Watching from Columbus, Ohio, USA. Enjoy watching your videos. They are interesting and informative. You are both very lucky to grow up on a farm. Always wanted that life style myself but may not have that opportunity. Keep the videos coming! đ€đșđžâïž
Thank you for watching
Congratulations on 2500 plus subscribers!! Once again a great video ! Keep it up your making your Mom and Dad proud!
Thank you Mike, we will do. See you Friday for part 2!
From Lancaster County Pennsylvania USA.
Hi and thanks for watching. We have quite a few subscribers from Pennsylvania. Canât believe how far our videos travel!
I also saw you on roof GP. I'm a retired police officer I own a 167 Acre Farm in north central Arkansas. I live in Houston Texas right now but hopefully soon I'll be moving back to the old Family Farm. Where I can be a kid again. lol
Our mum is a retired police officer too! Exciting moving back to the farm. Keep us posted on how it goes
Very interesting process, loved the slow motion. Watching from central Pennsylvania.
Hi, we have a great following from Pennsylvania, we must find out some farming facts from your part of the woods!
another great video, info, Katie jumping about. didn't realize how much diesel must go into getting the cows dinner into storage. looking forward to the next one. so I will C YA
Yes lots of diesel, lucky itâs dropped in price in time for silage!
Saw you both from Hoof GP!! You are both so refreshing to watch, I now get to see more of your videos on my feed!! Keep up the great work!! Oh and I am from Pennsylvania USA đșđž
Thanks for watching. Weâll hopefully be able to keep you smiling through these uncertain times. The Hoof GP is just awesome, inspiring and so helpful to us and our little channel.
From Glasgow originally and used to vacation in your area as a kid. Now in New Jersey, USA. Loving watching your channel, the Hoof GP and a couple from this side of the pond. saskdutchkid and 10thgenerationdairy farmer
We watch all those channels too! Proud that we are part of your viewing! Which parts did you used to visit? I bet where you live now is a lot different to Glasgow!
Farming Files Auchenlarie Holiday Farm, Gatehouse of Fleet and Kirkcudbright come to mind. Keep up the great videos, and Wash your Hands!
We sometimes go swimming at Auchenlarie, itâs only about 15 minutes away from us, Itâs a small world!
I love the smell of fermented grass in the morning.
Itâs good at any time unless you have hay fever like Rory and Finn đ
Farming Files well this couldn't of been a fun video for them to film then
Always fun watching your videos and seeing life on the farm.Looking forward to part 2.Hope you show the tractor on top of the salage compacting it lol
Friday all going well
Hi kids! I found you thru Graemeâs channel. Interesting how some of the things you do in your farm is similar and different from how we did things on our farm many years ago. Cheers from Appleton, Wisconsin, USA. (Iâm the one that met Graeme when he was here checking out his new crush a couple months ago).
Oh gosh yes, now we know who you are! His Appleton crush is amazing. Thank you for watching us đđđŽó §ó ąó łó Łó Žó ż
I found your channel through The Hoof GP. You are doing a great job, keep up the good work.
Thank you, where are you from?
USA-New Jersey. Not a farmer, just always found it interesting.
Fantastic, we keep a map of where all our subscribers are from. Home schooling Geography lesson!
Sent here from the hoof gp, really interesting thank you
You two are naturals before the camera! But also a massive thumbs up for your brother behind the camera ( his name escapes me just know, sorry) It's as if he's born to do thisđ
Itâs Rory, thank you, we are all learning all the time.
Guys, do you ever think about how tough this would have been before we had machines, and it was all done by hand?? Thatâs all I could think about when I was watching.
Yes it would have been impossible to do this much. The farm had horses so we often think about the work they would have done.
Watching from Central Texas USA. Ive always wanted to know how silage is made and canât wait for part 2.
Part 2 on now, sorry we're a day late but its been busy! Part 3 on Monday
Awesome well done guys now thatâs a lawnmower.đđŹđ§đ€đđ€Ł
It gets the job done quite fast!
From whithorn my boyfriend was sialging at your farm today!
Iâd imagine heâll be appearing in Fridayâs video!!! đ
Love your content. I heard about your channel from the Hoof GP. Iâm from California.
Thank you. Glad you are enjoying it. Stay safe
I found your channel through the Hoof GP and Gracie's journey! I've been enjoying y'alls videos! Keep up the great work! With love from a central Texas cattle ranch!
Gosh, thatâs very cool. How many cattle do you have on your ranch?
@@FarmingFiles We have 200 momma cows, 30 heifers, 8 bulls and 78 steers.
Thatâs amazing and do you have horses?
@@FarmingFiles We have a 19 year old Arabian mare and an 8 year old Arabian gelding. They are fat and spoiled! Lol!
@@FarmingFiles We also have chickens, quail, 4 dogs, and many barn cats. What we don't have is those adorable Kune Kune pigs y'all have! They are so adorable and I am jealous!
As always another very cool and informative video, I love to see those big machines make short work out of huge fields. I guess keep on showing us what the daily and weekly plans for a working farm include. Like when do you tend to your fields and what procedures do you have to do to them to keep them producing such great crops for the cows. Be sure to get some cameo appearances with the hoof GP if he comes to your farm to trim hoofs. Looking forward to how you make silage. Cheers from Michigan. I only got one hand washed .. I think I forgot to wash the other. How can that happen.
We'll keep telling what's going on every week, some week's its a bit boring but probably not boring for everyone who has no idea what we get up to!
7:55, you guys have a huge Drone! Ha Ha!
đ if only it flew and took videos!
đđđšđŠâ€, New Sub, YT Recommendation, and they finally got it right, excellent content guys, nice drone shots, hooked now
Thank you so much, great to have you watching đ
Oh! Maybe you could do a video on the farm vehicles!
Good idea, we could follow on from the one we did on the tractors and do the machinery. Thank you đđ»
Oysterville, Washington, USA-wet. Last! Kelly
Hi Kelly, thank you for watching from a very long way away. We have a map and we scratching off each state and country as someone subscribes from there. We must show you it in another video soon. Geography lessons taken care of and once videos are edited that's IT taken care of too. Who needs to go to school! No sign of us getting back until August and even then it will be part time school.
Great video's. I'm from Greenock :)
Thank you, glad you like them. Not too far away, maybe a couple of hours. đđ»
Hi, maybe a video on how you get your diesel and how you store it, and how much you use. learning so much about farming from you its great. 3k here you come.
Thank you Malcolm, we just get it delivered regularly by a small tanker from a local company. We donât hold much at a time as we have a great supplier who delivers the day we order. We are very excited about the subscribers! Graeme has given us so much support đ
Ha lol saw yous all today in the back of the pick up we followed yous all the way up the road đ€Ł
Youâll be making an appearance on Fridays video!!! We filmed you as we know you watch our videos! đđ»
@@FarmingFiles đđ€
Congratulations on the big jump in subscribers!
Tell us more about your pigs đ How is Welshie?
Weâll try and do another pig video soon. Welshie is out in the field again for a few hours with a grazing muzzle on which we hate but needs must and he enjoys the freedom and fun with Alana. Heâs lost lots of weight too which is great news. Huge jump in subscribers which is very exciting. The power if the Hoof GP!
đ
Stay tuned for Friday! đ
@@FarmingFiles Oh no! should I go into hiding? edit: no wait, you're not coming down to Nottingham are you? .. . . . . .I'm moving!
Iâd like to see what the typical chores are for kids on the farm at different ages. Also, did you know all of this information before making the videos or is it something you had to learn before shooting each video?
Hi, we have actually learned lots since starting the videos. We thought we knew most of the info but actually when we delve into it there is a lot we didnât know but do now. We werenât allowed to go onto the farm when we were smaller as the tractors are so big and itâs very dangerous for smaller kids but now we help out where we can. Especially since lockdown as all our hobbies are stopped.
Getting the food harvested for the cattle. How many cuttings are done every year?
Some years like this year 3 cuts but some years when there is less growth we need to try for 4.
I loved that video I can't wait for part two. I have a video idea you could do how to clean your sheds after cattle have been in them or something like that.
Margo, we did the calf shed a couple of weeks ago in a video but a proper one where stirks have been all winter would be good. Thanks for the idea đđ»
Atlanta Georgia USA
A long way from Scotland! Thank you for watching.
Farming Files yes I am. Many of my cousins are farmers in Missouri. They raise cattle and hogs. They grow corn and soybeans for feed. The cut hay for the winter to feed the cattle. They bale the hay in huge round bales. When I was your age, the baled the hay in square bales. I would help pick them up and toss them on the trailer. Once the trailer was full, we would take them to barn and throw them up into the hayloft. It was hot sweaty work and I donât miss it!đ
Mum and dad used to do that too. Little square bales are very rare now but some hay us baled in them for horses
Does your farm rely upon things produced by other farms, or do other farms rely upon your product? Also where does your milk go? Into jugs and into supermarkets? (Saw a comment on another channel that said it was mean to raise cows for milk when you can get milk in the supermarket. *eyeroll*). Does your farm produce things that other industries rely upon? Do you guys have to buy feed for your cows or do you grow it all? How has Covid 19 impacted your part of the world? Ummm... that's all the questions I could think of that you might use to make new videos. :) When is your summer vacation? We'll be on official vacation on the 11th of June.
Oh dear! Lol, our channel was to help people learn where their food comes from so hopefully its doing that! We buy in fodder beet from a local farm in winter and straw and hay comes from the East coast of Scotland where its much drier and the arable farms mainly are. We don't sell anything, we use it all to feed the cows. We only grow grass on the farm here. Thanks once again for commenting
Do you bale any of your fields? Speaking of delicious grass, how's Welshie? đšđŠđŠ
Well not normally but we might need to in later cuts as this has been a bumper crop this week so silage clamp space will could be an issue! Not a bad problem to have!
PS. Welshie is back out to grass for a couple of hours a day with a grazing muzzle on which we hate but needs must. Heâs loving being out with Alana in the field!
Did I miss it? Is this all done in one day or are there days of drying in between certain aspects?
Good point - we missed this! It lies out to dry for 24-48 hours before itâs rowed up and chopped. Itâs been really dry and windy so fast drying this week.
1st again
Nearly always first! On the ball đđ»
Is your farm near a runway of an airport? Iâm from Ireland btw. Love what ye are doing?
is that your new holland T6 on rake just on tractor tour video it had no front PTO and this one does,
That is my uncles one, he helps us out at busy times. Well spotted!
@@FarmingFiles ah thanks. still a good looking tractor. hope you lot doing well in these strange times.
I am from Hazelton North Dakota in the United States. I just graduated from high school. I am farm kid. Do you watch Tom
No, please enlighten us about Tom???
18th like 59th view
What do you eat? I need your energy levels down here in Stokesley, North Yorkshire
Stokesley? Will need to look at a map. Anywhere near Northallerton? We have a friend there but havenât been down to stay for a few years. We just eat whatever is in sight just now. Mum only shops once a week so we have 5 good eating days then 2 very lean days!!! We are good at making pancakes so if all else fails we cook our own!
Farming Files Northallerton is the next town over. We go there to get Bettyâs cakes. I recommend them next time you come dowm!
Try doing that with a Flymo.....đ

I almost got hit by a harvester yesterday trying to get a good video
Oops! Katie wasnât taking any chances at the end!!!
Wheres Katie's shoes?
Goodness knows, lying at her behind like everything else! đ
@@FarmingFiles and her socks dont match! đ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł Katie must have the soul of an artist.
Thatâs just standard for her! She doesnât care what she looks like!!! Mad as a box of frogs! đ€Ș
@@FarmingFiles I think it's great. Shes a free spirit. I hope she embraces that free spirit forever.
@@FarmingFiles That's hilarious! I have a daughter like that, too. So much fun! And exhausting. đđđđ
ur both old enough to drive a tractor but i dont see u sticking as farmers to save cots
You never know I guess. We canât help at silage as we have to cross main roads which isnât allowed at our age.
