It's quite noticeable that when we're chasing a goal and need extra time to score, the added time is often minimal, like just 1 minute as seen in the Madrid game. This is despite numerous fouls and Madrid players spending a significant amount of time on the ground.
The maximum I've observed being added is just 4 minutes.
However, when we're leading by just 1 goal and would prefer less extra time added, the referees seem to add much longer periods, such as 8 minutes, 9 minutes, or even 13 minutes.

Its very easy to criticize something that you don't understand. And the sad thing is, some people don't want to understand. They choose to remain ignorant, especially when it benefits them in some way. That Goldbridge clip about the offside situation is the perfect example of that. No one wants to hear that teams like City, who are competing at the highest level, are suffering because they want to see them fail.
