The fact that Lestrade doesn't hesitate ONE second to call maximum back up just from one text by Sherlock calling for help is... That man is loyal beyond... I don't even know what to compare that to.
ikr 🥺💜💜💜
I suspect that the texts are calling for "HELP. PLEASE." and that the fact Holmes would ask for help so intensely that Lestrade would think something SERIOUS is happening.
In the movie RUNNING SCARED (the 80's one) two troublesome cops call for backup for the first time because of caution brought on by impending retirement. Six police cruisers arrive. When one of the duo asks why they "brought the Rose Parade," they are told, "You never called for backup before. We thought you started a RIOT!"
SAME THOUGHT.
I love him so much for that.
probs he knows how much crap sherlock gets pulled or pulls himself into you probs need that backup for the queue of people sherlock offends nevermind actual threats lol
Maybe Gordon
I think Greg is the only adult in this show
Nope. He is still a child too XD

This is the exact example of "Looks like a cinnamon roll and is actually a cinnamon roll"
Sherlock: "Looks like it could kill you, is a cinnamon roll".
John: "Looks like a cinnamon roll, could kill you".
@@lightofeyezzfacts
Dude's the most brilliant underrated character of this show. Middle aged man on the verge of divorce, who is unfazed by all sherlock's bravado and antics, but the only detective who continues to consult him because solving the crimes matter more to him than his pride. He's just like the rest of us, if only we're the best versions of ourselves.
He's the Gordon to Sherlock's Batman.
He is divorced
@@RuthAShell that is basically the exact same thought I had 5 minutes ago when watching the Video
Wait, where was it said that he had a partner? I don't remember that part

He hugged Sherlock, he loves Sherlock more than John

He is the most loyal friend for Sherlock
Sherlock thanking him and remembering his name is underrated.
When was that
@@maryaquino4375 Exactly.

I love in the first episode when Lestrade says, "Sherlock's a great man and perhaps one day, if were lucky, he might be a good one." but the best part was when Sherlock called him by actual name in the last episode.
Amd graham called him a good man too tintintiiin
And the best part is : "No he's better than that, he's a good one." :)
Can someone explain to me why British people get more attractive as they age while us Americans have to sit here and suffer

Sherlock won't admit it but he holds Lestrade in very high regard and hates working with any other detective
Of course. Remember how he sent the Pearl girl away while letting Lestrade enter (with a warning, anyway! XD) But no doubts on our junkie detective's love for Giles. ;)
When Sherlock asked Lestrade to send his "least irritating officer" in The Sandal in Bulgaria, Lestrade just sent himself 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love their friendship, and even when Sherlock doesn't bother to remember Lestrade's name he still gives him the biggest hug after he comes back
I still believe he just does the name thing cuz he wants to annoy Graham
@@ittselli3245 *Geoff

I think it's mostly to annoy him though, because when it matters he does remember it (TFP).
Sherlock only remembers important information, his first name wasn't until he realised they were friends
"Is that why you're calling yourself Greg?" "That's his name." No matter how many times I see that, it will always make me laugh!
Lestrade & John comparing Sherlock to a child *right in front of him* while he’s unsure they’re talking about him is my new favorite thing~
Oo you forget "not my division" xD
Oh no! You're right!🤦🏼
I swear it was "Not our division", but that was in the one where Moriarty steals the crown jewels, I might be thinking of a different time

I just love Greg's reaction at 0:25, upon discovering that the mousy Molly he knows her to be is not so mousy after all...
Pick that jaw off the floor, will you, Greg?
LOL 😂
"We had her in lab all this time? 😮"
More funny is the fact that his entire scene was pure improv so it turned into a #LestradeReactionShow
And hasn't he just been told his wife's cheating on him 😅
@@lizziebethh Actually, this is just before he gets told his wife is cheating on him with the PE teacher. 😂
"Oh you bastard" is one of the best lines in this whole damn show + the bear hug because in the end, he loves Sherlock to death 😂
Greg and Molly are literally the only normal hoomans in that freakshow and i love them 😂💜
I miss the part of the first episode of the first season where Lestrade says "He is a great one and if we are very lucky enough he will be a good one too." and when TFP ends he ends up saying "he is more that that, he is a good one." that describes the whole journey of Sherlock starting from being the great Sherlock and all the transitions and experiences he goes through ends up being the 'good Sherlock' which we didn’t know when the 1st season started could ever possibly be. And the story wrapping just couldn’t be better, starting from Lestrade's contention about Sherlock and ends with him as well.
Oscar winning performance by greg....he has this natural humor that can't be explained.... he's lovely...this shows completes with him.....

I love how the whole of Britian is in panic whilst greg is sitting with his feet up, eating a donut, and trying to find the best excuse not to work

- Much later
Officer: "Well, he's a great man, sir!"
Lestrade: "He's better than that.... He's a good one."
What a great full circle moment...
still think "high functioning sociopath" was a better one
when he shows up at the flat with helicopters, that's my favorite part of this.
I'm just gonna say it. Lestrade is the most underrated character.
Sherlock- Help
Greg- *arrives with helicopters and backup*
Sherlock- I need help with this speech
Greg- ...
Sherlock- ....
Greg- ...
(HELICPOTER SOUNDS)
Sherlock- WTF is happening?
On the bright side, with that many people showing up finding good anecdotes shouldn't be too hard.
My man threw away the arrest of his career to save his friend, no questions asked. Something tells me he's a closer friend of Sherlock than John is as have been led to think.
4:08 That scene😂😂😂
LOL 😂 When the music sheets flew off the stand
That look on Sherlocks face makes it even better! Lestrade is such a real friend! Maximum backup
I firmly believe that if Sherlock had texted HELP to Lestrade from the prison in the last scene, he’d have flown in and recreated the end of Bad Boys 2
I fucking love lestrade, the man’s a legend
💯💯
1:45 this scene feels like greg is very much about to book anderson a therapy appointement-
but it's also hella sweet how lestrade is immediantly realizing what's going on with anderson ("let it go, sherlock's dead") and seemingly tries to genuenly get him to snap out of it.
also greg is the mom friend, prove me wrong
My dumbass never realised thats Anderson LMAO
@@ittselli3245 LMAO
Gotta love Greg! ♥️♥️
Oh that was his name XD
@Sophie Hulse XD
yeah...
who?
gavin is the best indeed
You mean Gavin?
Rupert Graves and Con O’Neill, the two most underrated TV screen DILFs of our age
Can someone explain to me why Anderson was the one who was blamed and fired for discrediting Sherlock (and leading to his “suicide”) when it was actually mostly Donovan? Why does she get to stay a sergeant but they fire and blame the forensics guy? (Don’t get me wrong Anderson was a dickhead but still why’d he get all the blame when it was Sally’s fault?)
I think Anderson had more of a history of trying to discredit Sherlock, while Donovan only went along with whatever Anderson said, except for the very end. I think Donovan tolerated Sherlock because Lestrade liked Sherlock and she was the middle person between Anderson’s loathing and Lestrade, and while she didn’t like Sherlock, she at least had an ounce of respect for him because she knew he got the job done.
@@wildshadowstar no I don't think she respected him, remember from the very beginning she was like he is a freak and was convinced that one day Sherlock will commit a crime, add to that I believe Sherlock told Lestrade that Donovan was the one who started this when he showed in his flat to arrest him... so.. idk why she got away with it..
@@wildshadowstar she really didn’t have any respect for him. She called him a freak and basically implies he gets off on murder (really he just likes a good mystery to solve). And even though Moriarty’s plan was insane and without proof 2 years later nobody would’ve believed it, she was the one who insisted it was Sherlock who kidnapped the kids, all Anderson did was say it was likely because Sherlock seemed insane to them.
I don't know, maybe I missed it, but I never heard that Anderson was fired. I thought Anderson quit out of guilt, which is why he started the fan club, and helps Mycroft from time to time. I also think that even though Donovan hated and wanted Sherlock out, that she believes she did her job and has nothing to feel guilty about which is why she is still with Scotland Yard.
@@thatweirdgirl8466 Agree with you. And she dared to say to John, who was actually a stranger to her, that Sherlock is a psychopath.
This woman was a bully in the worst sense, and she obviously forgot, Sherlock also did the work she is payed for. He helps people neither for payment, fame and honor nor he takes any credit for his work and the public image doesn't really matters to him. Sherlock helps people because he likes when he can do that, it's his life's work.
Anderson was half as worse as Sally was.
He honestly regret his fault to think Sherlock is a fraud and the kidnapper of the children. And as kind of reparation he grounded the fanclub "The empty hearse."
4:26 Greg: "for god sake, I just came here for the free bar"
i love the thought of mycroft sending lestrade to look after sherlock
3:22, "I'm cool with it." HILARIOUS!
Great compilation. Thank you! Gotta love Scudder! I see him popping up here and there in Lestrade.

I really enjoyed his character
I Love Lestrades face - ‘ItS a DrUg BuSt’
My favorite character in the series, the definition of the perfect man is Greg Lestrade
3:35 still yoinks my lungs out every time.
If no ones gonna say it I will.
Greg lestrade is one of the funniest characters in Sherlock
The way he says “is that why you’re calling yourself ‘Greg’” kills me, especially considering his name is “SHERLOCK.” 🤣
When you realise he's actually one of the most decent characters in the show
George is probably one of my most favourite side characters from the show.
RIP Ms Hudson btw 😢
Maximum backup, Baker Street now!! What a loyal guy!
0:37 I die laughing every damn time
I can't believe you failed to put the 'not our division'
Gotta love Lestrade! He is one of the few who puts up with Sherlock and his antics!
Thank you so much for creating this. I love Lestrade as a character! Rupert Graves brought something special and made Lestrade more than just "an extra person in the shot"
4:27 Sherlock make police look like idiots, but in reality, even he didn't know the truth at the moment.
God he’s a good character. Subtle role in the show but still important at the same time (and can pull it off)
I didn't know I needed this, but I did~
Also what about "not our devision" and (one of my very favourites) "NOT REALLY"? 😂
"Could you please whisper...?"
"NOT REALLY!"
Sherlock and Lestrade are one of my favorite dynamics, Sherlock is like Lestrade's moody and arrogant (yet endearing) teenage son...
I think you could've included the scene where he yells at them for drinking in the Sign of Three.
Yeah, and, 'Not our division.'
I ADORE Greg, seriously!! 😂❤️
I can't get over Sherlock's smile when Greg hugs him 😭
I'ved loved Rupert since "...View" & his innocent, necked boys romp, & his horny but so loving, country lad in "Maurice". I even waited at the stage door for an autograph years later in NYC when he did "Closer".
He delivers every time, ("Different for Girls", & as the cheating hubby in the Brit "women" cop drama _____" , ( darn, the name escapes me now). But that grey hair suits him as perfectly as he perfectly suits the roll of Lestrade. The whole cast compliments the fantastic writing of each character. Rupert is right up there!
Ironically He actually hates his own performance in A Room with a View.
Death in Paradise the first episode (not with the female cop?), New Tricks (with a female boss) and the others...
@@nekusakura6748 I didn't care for Scudder but Freddie Honeychurch and his ridiculous song is adorable.
Is that why you are calling yourself Greg ? It cracks me up every time
3:48 Imagine how embarrasing it must have been for Lestrade after this..., Leaving a man hunt for a guy he's been struggling to catch and calling "maximum" backup and rushing up to Sherlock and John's flat just to assist a man with a Best Man's speech, Dude woulda been sacked and worse probably ahaha
I was just writing a comment about how Sherlock wasn’t seeking money, fame, or public acclaim when he solved crimes for the Met. Well, one reason I think Greg and Sherlock worked so well together is that he too was not all about the credit of solving crimes. He was a detective bc he honestly believed in right and wrong and he allowed Sherlock to help out his team bc there simply were times when he knew the crimes were above their heads and/or it would take his team weeks, maybe months to solve something that Sherlock could solve in ten minutes. Greg was remarkably laidback for a police Inspector. He didn’t didn’t mind pitching in if nec’ry, and he basically just wanted everybody to get along. A naive, perhaps ignorant approach towards policework, but certainly much more positive and with a much higher baseline than most other policemen. In my mind, since we’re going by the series and not by RDJs movies or ACDoyles books, I think of Greg as a teddy bear (well, a teddy bear w muscles) since he’s so incredibly sweet, and since Moffat, etc weren’t putting Sherlock together w John, or Molly for that matter (albeit I’m not sure why, if they want a hetero couple) then I would love Greg and Molly to get together. [Im really not into Sherlock w Irene bc she’s not going to do anything for him personally other than perhaps have great sex.] Sherlock and Molly I could see emotional growth & real love coming from that couple.
Which is all based on whether one can still see a couple developing bet Sherlock and John. Bc then Molly will give all that repressed love to Greg. (Mycroft was already together w Ms. Smallwood by that point. Otherwise, I’ve read like a trillion excellent Mystrade fanfics.) But I’m attempting to adhere to canon, which still left certain matters up in the air [IMPO]. Not that any of this has to do w your wondrous video. But considering how unbelievably fantastic I honestly believe Greg to be, I do NOT wish to leave him without a partner. I don’t want him to grow old alone. He deserves better. 😊🥰
Etf are you talking about. Mycroft never was with her. He actually despises her efforts to gets in his pants. Sherlock never love or lusr for molly. He talks about exactly his toughts about love in the irene adler scene when he unlocks her phone.
If sherlock hates people and cant stand them, Mycroft even less and he also suffers the same condition as sherlocks, sensory overload, buzzing in his head, toughts too fast, but he can get "cases" anytime he needs to avoid boredom cause he IS the british government. And sherlock have to wait for something to happen either on NSY or in private cases while Mycroft can make it happen.
They both unwind trough music while sherlock uses violin, Mycroft play the piano.
If there is any posibbility on a perfect partner for sherlock it will defin. Will be Mycroft and the other way around.
Nobody else is as sensitive, picky, posh, and geniously smart as these too. And they are above the law so many times already like getting away with cold bloody murder as sherlock against magnussen... so what is a little incest anyway?
@@AleSosa1O ‘Kay. I was moving past canon into what I, personally, would like to see. Tbh, I always thought Sherlock and Jim made an interesting couple when reading fanfic. I’m not saying I think Sherlock should switch over to the dark side, but I believe , as you were saying, they are few people w intellects like Sherlock or Mycroft and Sherlock & Jim were an interesting dichotomy. People talk abt Sherlock as if he was so close to turning to Jim’s side but that was never true. He always believed in right and wrong, but the most interesting part of what he did was figuring out the puzzle and one way of let’s say shifting Sherlock’s perspective would be Jim giving him many more puzzles to solve. I know about four or five dif ways Jim could have survived that shooting on the roof (bc there was an actual hiatus of about two or three yrs bet seasons & fans wrote so many many fics) so knowing how Jim could survive gives me a more pleasant couple than incest (I’m sorry, I like Sherlock and Mycroft’s relationship as is.)
I know they gave a certain amount of sexual interest, or merely interest in her intelligence, and the sexual interest was all on her part (altho why he would think of her naked without interest if his own is odd) but as she was written in the BBC series, she wouldn’t have been a “relationship “, she would have been available for sex every now and then. It was just ME who wanted Sherlock and Molly to,get together, as she continued to love him and he came to care deeply for her as a friend. I could see a relationship developing there but you’re correct in that while she’s bright, she’s not Sherlock bright, and he would just be using her for sex, if he decided he finally wanted to have some. And John was so protective of his heterosexuality thruout the series that even if he had been bisexual, canon John would never admit it and it’s difficult to see that changing. I’ve read plenty of fics where they did have John change but it didn’t feel like it was following what we watched.
In the meantime, it was the show itself that put Mycroft and Ms. Smallwood together, not me. I must have read a million trillion Mystrade ( Mycroft and Lystrade) fanfics. I don’t know ppl wanted them together but they definitely did. And the thing w Greg is that Mycroft might have the intellect but he doesn’t have the confidence, the go get ‘em attitude that Lystrade had and if, for no particular reason we made Lystrade bi, he would fit Mycroft in the way ppl wanted John w Sherlock. He would be the rock Mycroft could count upon. I honestly see no reason at all for incest.
But to each their own. We can agree to disagree.
I do like him over John, any day. At the end when Sherlock says, THANKS GREG!!!! thats everything we've waited for!!
