all the cgi and costumes were intentional, as a clap back to all the criticisms they’ve been receiving. it was really clever of them! love it!
BTS released this song right when they were blowing up big time in US and it's not a coincidence.
They were facing kind of a push back from the close minded part of the western audience. People were saying things like kpop is not music, everything is too over the top, they are just pretty boys in make up, ... a lot of prejudice like you can imagine. BTS never said it out loud but their intention with IDOL was to give people seemingly what they were expecting but roast them in the lyrics and have the time of their life in the process. The best part is those judgemental people would never look up the lyrics and keep making a fool out of themselves while getting screamed at in the face that the boys doesn't give a flipping f.. about them.
At the same time as they were getting bigger and bigger korean kpop fans were saying that BTS is getting too westernized, they are not the same BTS they were before, they are leaving their roots behind, etc. So they made IDOL as korean as possible with traditional instruments, clothing, dance figures, all the colors and all the other things they use in the MV/stages. If you watch their performance of IDOL at MMA 2018 it's basically a giant celebration of korean culture.
I know you said you will watch an explanation but I wanted to put it out there from an army's perspective. We all adore this song.
You guys are always genuine with your thoughts and it's much appreciated. Always a joy to watch💜
I just wanna say that idol is possibly the MOST hype song at their concerts. It's usually at the end of their medleys after they've given their all and it blows my mind every time how the members keep dancing and singing without a break. Hearing army scream: "You can't stop me loving myself" is such a vibe. The whole place is booming. I would die to see this performed live, i wanna experience that atmosphere.
The fact that they released this at the peak of a frankly horrifying hate train - racism and xenophobia from the western world, unhinged accusations born of petty jealousy of all kinds from korean media, and instead of lashing back (which they had EVERY right to do btw) they chose to create this anthem of almost aggressive self love ... And to this day its such an impactful song, eg it was heard playing during south koreas biggest pride parade just last year. I have no words for how brave and inspiring these boys are
They performed this one at the Love Yourself Speak Yourself tour and I don’t think I’ll ever heal my inner child more than screaming “you can’t stop my loving myself” at the top of my lungs with 40,000 other ARMYs at MetLife. My therapist could never lol
Love how hype this song is, and hiw they incorporated so mamy korean elements to it. I always love when they show how proud they are of their roots. In concerts, the Idol performance is always a blast!
i looove idol! there are so many easter eggs in this video. this was when bts was getting a lot of criticism for being "westernized" so there are a bunch of references to Korean culture in the lyrics and video. you should watch the dkdktv explanation of idol if you're curious!
This is definitely a song and video where you notice new things all the time. I watched a reactor who mentioned the whistle and I was exactly the same; “there’s a whistle?!” even though I’d listened a million times. Also, I’d never noticed V’s tie before, nor have I ever seen it mentioned, so good catch 💜
They do this live 9:06 at the 2018 MMA that you need to watch. 💜💜💜 One of their performances of this shook the stage.
I love this one!!! Some of the performances of this one on award shows will blow you away. The ultimate diss to the haters!!
I love this song, and live is even better.
I was my favorite performance when I saw them at concert, like I knew I will love all performences, but Idol really stud out... It was the best moment for me.
And when you watch live performance from awards shows or so you will see they slay it... 😁😁😁🤭
I love you guys. You are really good at reviewing the video, and criticism. Love it!!! 😊
There’s another MV with Nicki Minaj and at the end they show the challenges. There were all kinds of people, I remember even seeing a person on a wheelchair and I thought that was amazing that it literally included everybody 💜💜
Yes and cool that she sang her part almost in korean
Great reaction guys!! You should absolutely react or at least watch by your own DKDKTV explanation of this video, you'll love how meaningful it is.💜💜
IDOL 💜🎉👏
I miss them 🫠💜
Great reaction. You both understood everything about this performance😂
Fr RM's hair color was amazing but unfortunately he took it off in a short time and went blonde or pink if I'm not mistaken

V new single "FRI(END)S" will be released next Friday, March 15. ❤
So are they going through the 3 CDs even the demo versions ?
That is our goal 💜
Can we have a reaction to Suchwita episode 21?🥺🤞🏻
Rappers Jk and V deserve a comeback 😢
