People forget that Ted was a short list candidate for the NWA World Championship , Too .
Wrestling at the Chase was my FAVORITE in the 70s n early ‘80s. Great angles Harley vs Von Erich’s and DiBiase especially
no he wasn't
@@scotthubbert Some of those shows are on yt now and they are great. Was never a fan of the cartoon clown show wrestling became.
Ted teamed with David VE in St. Louis on "Wrestling at the Chase."
Who did they wrestle on
Wrestling at the chase?

I am not convinced that Fritz forced his kids to be wrestler but I can believe he drove them hard to succeed once they joined in the business . Kevin and Kerry both said that Fritz stood no chance of talking them out of being wrestlers . They idolized Fritz and they were determined to make him proud within the business .
Good observation. When the tragedies started it was big bad Fritz, but in reality it was the only life they knew, just like Ted went in after his Dad did not want him too and all of the others that did the same thing. With the success Fritz had it would have to be a tremendous desire of those boys to be that way too. Looking at Kerry's personality he probably needed to wrestle, he may not have been a good fit in the business world in a lot of instances.
so what

I found it funny that Ted said he never wanted to work for Fritz. He was on a 6/17/83 card with jumbo tsruda in Dallas at Reunion Arena…
Christmas ‘85 as well I believe, against either Inoki or Fujinami?
You understand he may not recall 1 match about 40 years ago?
@@bigrumusic just stating facts
@@mrpink99 That was in Japan in December 85
I’m sure he meant working for Fritz for any amount of time.
Friday, 6/17/1983 ( WCCW: Wrestling Star Wars ) Dallas, Texas: Reunion Arena: Ted Dibiase ( of Mid -South Wrestling ) battled Jumbo Tsuruta to a time limit Draw.
I saw Ted on GCW and Mid South in the early eighties and it was awesome. The realism is what captured the fans imagination. It took great skill to get the people emotionally involved and I never seen it happen as well as the Von Erich's could do it. Grown women crying their eyes out because they thought those guys were hurt.
Mark Calloway aka the Undertaker also got his start with Fritz.
no he didn't
The Punisher…. Texas Red
Saturday ,3/17/1979 ( MMP- Amarillo) Hereford, Texas: Deaf Smith County Bull Barn : Ted Dibiase vs David Von Erich
I know Ted DiBiase wrestled in Dallas at least once at big Reunion Arena shows. It was a Fritz promotion. I think it was 1981. I guess you wouldn’t exactly say he worked FOR him.
What could been two former NWA world's heavyweight champion Ted and David could great rivalry
I recall apter mag had story about David Von Erich teaming with Jerry Lawler against Mulligan and Lanza ,the Blackjacks
Fritz was the Stu Hart of Texas! 💪🏿
That was the second youngest son, the youngest tried to wrestle but health issues prevented him to excel.
I forgot to mention, the youngest was not mentioned in the movie
the youngest with the health issues and not mentioned in the movie was Chris
Ted was of the Von Erichs Generation, as a Kid in the late 70's with no internet, I researched and learned of wrestlers past like Gorgeous George, Thesz, Roller and all the greats before my time, when an interviewer says I did not know about whoever, it tells me they are not wrestling fans, If WWE and WCW is al you know, Google, It is not just for Porn.
Those kids was force to wrestle
Literally right below this video, on my feed, there's a video titled "8 times iron claw movie lied to you"
Fritz was no joke. The real deal
real deal jerk
Bit of a double stand here. DiBiase always praises Bill Watts who almost everyone else says was a bully and he pushed his untalented son Erik
The three eldest von Erichs had talent

Ted DiBiase Jr. attends the WWE SummerSlam VIP Kick-Off Party in Beverly Hills, Calif., on Aug. 16, 2012.
Fritz was trying to protect his company. Verne Gagne did the same thing in the AWA.
Marcus Mark. Didnt play for falcons
I would hate to work for him because his kids had to be winners all the time and what was the chance that you would be champs at least according to the movie?
Most everybody who worked for Bill Watts in Mid South had worked for Fritz at one time or another--almost as if World Class was a sub-territory of Mid South the way Houston was. I always wondered why DiBiase, Dr Death, and Duggan never did., so this explained that at least for Ted. Things were done a lot differently in WCCW, though, and I don't think I would have wanted to work for Fritz, either
Up until the end of 1985 or so Fritz & Watts would regularly exchange talent, with the likes of JYD, DiBiase & Magnum TA showing up on World Class cards, while Kerry Von Erich, Chris Adams, Gino Hernandez & others would show up in Mid -South
@@mrpink99 Yeah, I remember Kerry and Kevin making appearances to challenge Ted DiBiase for the North American title that year, so that was what made me think they were a sub-territory at the time like Houston. But again---not everyone did, and there was never once a Doctor Death sighting at the Sportatorium
World Class was never a sub territory of Mid South. Texas had 4 separate territories. Mid South consisted of 4 Fly over states. So you are really going to compare OKC and Tulsa to DFW. We have 8 million people now and had 3 million in the 80’s. Tulsa and OKC don’t even have that now.
@@impalaman9707 No, but he did participate in the 12 man tag match at the second Parade of Champions card at Texas Stadium
Kevin wanted to play football, Mike wanted to be a musician. I think the only one who desired to wrestle was David
You're wrong. David's love was basketball and horses.
David wanted very much to be a wrestler, and he was heir apparent to running the business too. He also was a horse rancher and was preparing for life after wrestling. Dave had a good head on his shoulders by all accounts.
Everyone is really down on Mike. But he was just starting out and had no experience, his three older brothers were at the top of the food chain and many guys would never reach their level, but in time as he gained size and experience he would have been ok for the territory but the tragedies struck.
@@stealthbomber2127 You definitely haven't seen Mike wrestle very much. 🤣
@@Rjensen2 He was just starting out, he would have made slow progress as time went by.
Ted has no idea what sort of grind some of today’s young stars run. Why, poor Will Overspray is only getting about $5,000,000 a year from the Khan Family Trust. Poor guy has to fly from jolly old England to work tv a few times a month. (insert the sinister Million Dollar Man laugh here)
Didn’t Will hurt couple people?
@@OvercomeThroughJesus301 a lot of "workers" now really are green in terms of how safe they are to other wrestlers and themselves, in the ring. Look how many people in that company who have been concussed and then taken additional head drops because it "wasn't the planned finish" or whatever garbage. It wouldn't surprise me.
5 mil a year and everyone gets to watch him slowly decompose and become a shell of himself due to excessive punishment and injuries. He'll be lucky if he can even walk in 5-10 years.
Nobody in the business works 300 days a year now like they did in the 80's ... and that's a good thing
@@mikclark8859 The lackadaisical approach and schedule for the new folks, especially AEW, shows in the lower quality of their product. I would submit the sub-part time schedule has something to do with the injuries, too.
Biopic movies are based on a true story.Producers use dramatic license to make a movie.
Gino Hernandez died in world class wrestling also chris Adams went crazy.
Not crazy, but he was a raging alcoholic
Possessed.
I think that the boys were mentally slow and on drugs , that said , didn’t your kids steal a shitload of money from your state ? I think you are judging fritz to harshly never having met him .
These guy have no clue about the Von Erich’s. Chris was the youngest and wanted to be a wrestler. Mike wanted to be a musician and do video production. Ted still has no idea how over the Von Erich’s were in Texas. David also wrestled in Florida and St. Louis.
😂 you saw the movie didn’t you?
Host guy takes a film that didnt even have the decency to consult Kevin Von Erich for accuracy at total face value. He needs to listen to some relevant interviews for a change. And "different takes" on a person is the whole point of being a human being. Its nothing unheard of.
finally watched the iron claw what was all the buzz about thought it was average at best and boring
I thought that as well, very disappointed! Growing up watching and knowing the Von Erich's history, way too much was glossed over or left out! It would have been done showcased as a 8 part Netflix series!
😊
Fritz never made them be wrestlers and the movie is just a movie creative license. not really how Fritz was.
Oh yes he dd. Dont be a fool
Fritz was the same guy who used his son's death to sell out a wrestling show...to leverage the NWA to put the belt on Kerry...Fritz was no angel.
How anyone can watch a stupid Hollywood movie and think that's documentation is mentally challenged. They left the youngest brother, Chris, completely out for Pete's sake. How can you trust anything in that movie after that?
based on how things panned out for the family, it's safe to imagine that the family system was dysfunctional
@@PatBrooks-u6wit was explained by the director. FFS
Pretty stupid video if you ask me. I mean, DiBiase straight up admits he never knew Fritz and never worked for him. He's just aping things he's heard from other people, and drawing conclusions based on the family's tragedies.
Sorry Ted..but I think telling your kids that they are going to be wrestlers is still better than raising your kid(s) to become fraudsters. I'm sure you taking fees from all of those churches set a great examples for a future fraudster. Talking at churches should be considered fraud too.
well teds son is still alive so......
Anti Christian bigot
@@jamesjones9104 Well that makes it ok to be a crook then.
@@stealthbomber2127 it all boils down to would you rather have a son who's a crook or4 sons who you drove to suicide. which are you choosing
@@jamesjones9104 How do you know it was Fritz's fault? Those boys made their own decisions when getting of adult age. If you are adult age you are making decisions for yourself too. Today's society everyone always blame others for what they do.
I was under the impression Fritz didn't like Dory Funk Sr. (and Joe Blanchard for that matter) and vice versa. I would think that had as much to do with Ted not working for Fritz as Ted was an Amarillo wrestling guy. Ted wrestled for a good 4-5 years before the Von Erich brothers was even a thing. "Fritz was mean to his kids" seems kind of lame when he had plenty of years to go there.
Fritz and Joe Blanchard were close friends and don't know how he got along with Dory Sr.
@@stealthbomber2127 They were friends up until the split in '78.
The more I learn about Fritz Von Erich, the more he seems like one of history’s biggest assholes.
David was a better wrestler then you
Hey, Fritz is dead!
