12:30 I'd like to ask the reporter if he asked manong if he had retirement plans. If the modernization was implemented years ago, si Manong probably meron na sana sya SSS or GSIS.
Based on his interview, I think Manong has to drive until he is no longer able to drive?
obviously they do not have these insurances or retirement plan
most poor Filipinos don't even have anything basic as a bank account!

goodbye modernization - hello to regression and stagnation. a country can only modernize when the mentality of its citizens is modern. malaysia, thailand, indonesia and now vietnam have successfully modernized ahead of us. they all had jeepney-style transportation before (in thailand they were called songthaew, they used to be the main transportation there. after modernization, modern buses with bus routes and modern bus stops are everywhere instead. the songthaew only exist on side roads and rural villages). kulelat pa rin tayo. naipit pa tayo sa nakaraan. give it 3 more generations. filipinos (both our government and our masses) today aren't ready mentally for our country to progress towards developed and wealthy status.

I am not familiar with the mechanics of the new electric buses that are being required but I thought I should just mention that there has been a spate of spontaneous combustion of electric vehicles (cars, buses, etc.) overseas. It is quite random. Sometimes it happens while the vehicle is just parked. It is said to be caused by the instability of lithium batteries. Once they catch fire, they are hard to put out because the lithium burns when it mixes with water.
Maybe they use different batteries (safer, hopefully).
