Same. I was doing pretty good before I quit lifting. I got covid and didn't work out for like a month. The losses were so depressing I just haven't gotten back to it. I was almost to a bw strict press which for me would have been 175. I was up to 165 press
Strict pressing heavy, heavy weight will always be more impressive than a squat or deadlift to me. Dudes form was impeccable. No jerking, using legs, or half rep, bs. Good shit!
That’s just common sense? Do you not do this? Also, he would get thoroughly cooked in the comments if he called it a set of 4. All respect to him for this crazy lift but y’all lowk glazing
@@jsnprater That’s hilarious. Try to STRICT ohp that. His form was beyond good for that weight. I’d like to see the weights you throw around keyboard warrior.
@@jahman514 his shoulders are as far back as his ass is, with his head even further. Just stand up straight, and do the same thing. That’s an unhealthy arch, not including the weight that’s then added to the spinal load.
From my experience the sticking point is usually mid-way, that's where you just suddenly hit a wall and where you make it or break it. Same thing with benching.
Anyone who strict ohp knows how tough and humbling that lift is. 275 even once is insane but to do it 3 times is a level of strength that I can’t even comprehend.
Very few people understand how strong this is. To do 275x3 strict with no leg drive is a crazy feat of pressing power. Most of the wimps in the gym today ego lift and buck the weight up using their legs. As soon as you go strict and engage your core I guarantee it will knock 40 pounds off of your “one rep max”.
Lifting for power is more applicable to real world strength than lifting for strength as contradictory as that may seem. But this is very impressive nonetheless
I was drunk at my friend's house and we decided to lift. The other guys there were both stronger than me but not so much that I couldn't do a few reps if I went into what you could call standing incline bench mode. The next day my lower back was sore and I realized that that what I did was dumb AF, I was 38 at the time. I consider myself lucky that light soreness is all I got.
@@QHajid I wouldn't say it could help your deadlift dramatically, but it would strengthen your core, which could help you deadlift more as a by-product over time!
Unbelievable. Not only is he overhead pressing an insanely heavy weight that most big guys can’t do, but what’s even more impressive is how he’s also using outstanding strict form by going all the way down, pausing then extending all the way up. It’s so refreshing & beautiful to see over all the bad form prevalent on the internet & commercial gyms.
Nice lifting. Unfortunately, I can't do that kind of lifting anymore. I tore my tricep distal tendon a few years ago, and that changed my lifting forever. I can't press for crap. Oh well. It was fun back in the day. I'm 57, and still in otherwise good health. All that matters now. Thanks for sharing the video. Brings back fond memories.
Few can. Don't stress over it. Your body is unique. Try to start making progress towards your own goals. Whether that be losing ten lbs., increasing your strength, lowering your resting HR, or being able to run faster.
@@sleazo7 Nah that’s the reality of natural training. I can bench 250 lbs, most of the guys in my gym who have been lifting 5 or 7 years also bench that. Dudes who been lifting 10 years can bench 315 lbs, depends on your genetics and leverages etc.
The fact this this mans is overhead pressing my bench max is kinda frightening and also inspiring
