Demos are recorded before the album. They can be used to get ideas down, be a recorded song that you send out to people to promote yourself, etc.

I like this album because it has a more live feel to it than normal. Slightly less refined and more raw aggression.

its less perfect. they clearly didnt rerecord everything multiple times and put effects onto the album that made it sound "studio". I always enjoyed that about punk music...

Don't worry, it's not a silly question :) A demo is basically used for reference by the band. By listening to the demo, they will know what to improve on for the actual album. As you can hear, the real release of RPM sounds much more polished than the demo. Hope I helped :)

I think Dead Ringer and To the Core were written and recorded on the fly. maybe there are demos, maybe not. who knows, could wait another 10 years.
