- Welcome to my channel. In this video I restore and customize an Ertl A-Team GMC van (circa 1983) from the 80's TV series The A Team starring Dwight Schultz, Dirk Benedict, Mr.T and George Peppard.

You would have only received that 2 days ago - how’s that for a quick turn around! Awesome job Danny, B.A would definitely approve.
Thanks for supplying the van Nathan, been waiting for this one. 👍🇬🇧
Paul Nelson - your welcome mate. That wasn’t all that I sent to Danny, so stay tuned!
I have to say this. “I pity the fool that does not like this van”. (Mr T)
I love it when a van comes together
Lol👍
I see what you did there LOL!
Considering what you had to work with it was never going to be a perfect replica but it certainly does capture the spirit of B.A’s van. I was pleased to see the silver over black, many folks miss that important detail.
It looks so much better now than it did before you restored it! The wheels and the color scheme look great. Overall a fantastic looking model. Thanks for sharing this.
As long as I was watching the video, I noticed the name of the one of the producers of the show, Stephen J. Cannell. I recognized the name, not only for being the producer of The A team, but also of being one of the invited guests of the Castle TV show, back in 2009 and 2010. Unfortunately, Cannell passed away from a menaloma cancer in 2010. RIP Stephen Cannell.
And, of course, amazing resto work buddy, I know your channel from a short time, but you've a talent for this kind of stuff. Keep it up!
The A team van ........nice refresh on the old starting point.......Yes i remember the series well....
It looks stacks better. Nice epoxy fix, photoshop, paint & wheels! Nailed it!
Excellent result, it looks amazing!!, I too am an 80’s child, I used to wait in anticipation for the next episode of the A Team, it used show at 5:35 pm every Saturday here in the UK if I remember correctly.
Thanks for doing an A-Team van. I have continually asked for any of the car restoration people to do 1. It looks great
Tis a small world I have been looking for this van for years and managed to find one today at a flea market in UK for £0.25, It is in slightly worse condition as it has no stickers. 12 hours later I switch on my tablet and this is the first video on my suggestion page!happy days, great work on the van!
Lucky !
Nice very very nice 👍.. I used to have two of these ertl a-team vans when I was a kid 😀..."Fool are you crazy?.. nobody drives my van but me"... lol 😀😀 😀
The A-Team van is awesome looking my friend you did a great job. One of the most iconic vans in the world, and how sweet She is again my friend.
Very nice bit of video editing. The stripes look just right. Excellent result all round. Thanks.
Hahahaha, I watched this show religiously as a kid and all this time I had no idea that the paint above the red line wasn't also black. Watching ye paint I was like "huh, why's he doing that? Is that a custom thing?" Then I looked it up and discovered I was wrong. Every day ye learn something new...
Excellent work! Fun fact: The iconic Van belonged to and driven by BA in the A-Team series
I love it when a plan comes together!
Right front window could have used a bit of flash removal.
Started out looking beat and came out looking sweet.
I like the way the vibrations make the wheels spin as you're using the bur tool. I like to think it's B.A. Baracus trying to get away from the fool who's about to take apart his beloved van. :)
B.A. stands for bad attitude
I am so glad you fixed the wheels on that van
the van cannot be too perfect, how hard they rode it 😎👍 looks great
Quality revamp on a classic ride, mate. I'm glad you also got rid of those old decals that said A-Team on them, lol.
You made the van the Ertl *should* have made. What an amazing job, A-team was one of my favorite shows growing up so it was nice seeing this done. Also, thank you for showing your process in PhotoShop for making the decals, very informative!
It would be cool to see the Ertl General Lee beside the A-Team Van and any others from that range that you have. Great job.
B. A. Baracus would be proud of this restoration. Now I need to see Templeton Peck a.k.a. Face Corvette!
I love it when a plan comes together.
Wow wow wow ... given what you had to start with this looks awesome!!!!!!!
Danny, yet another fantastic redo of a classic ... Really like the silver, black and red tricolor paint scheme. Red wheels was a perfect capper to the resto. 5☆'s as always !!
Can't wait for the Mystery Machine!
Me as well!
Nicely done
This restoration looks a lot better than the original. This is how the van should have looked.
Awesome video. Turned out looking bada$$ . To the person that put the thumbs down you have to be jealous and a hater.
Awesome job I have actually two of them and they are in way better shape than what you started with mine. Bumpers are straight grills meet the front hood they were mine since childhood
GREAT RESTORATION, can imagine the gang exiting the van! LOL! 👍☺✌
Danny, your talent really does elevate these old Ertl cars to a far higher station. The quality is pretty obviously sub Maisto level, but with all your effort you manage to pull out as much quality as possible
The A Team Van is looking alot better looks just about right very well done .
You've done the A-team van proud. Great job.
Hey Buddy, A quicker way to straighten is to right click on the Eye Dropper Tool and select the Ruler Tool. Make a line on a straight line you want to base leveling on then under the image tab, select Image Rotation - Arbitrary - OK. It will then straighten it up according to your line you made with the Ruler Tool. Bam, your done. I actually scan my diecasts on my scanner (at 100%) then do all of the editing in Photoshop. And, just as the way you're doing it, you don't need to print out several copies and hope one fits. I have found that with the scanning the car is already sized properly. Most scanners automatically scan at 100% and you don't need to set anything. But each program is slightly different so you may need to check if it is anything other than 100%. Also, when using the pen tool, when you need to make a straight line, just hold the shift button and when you click your next anchor point it will be straight. It only works for 0°, 45° and 90° though. I enjoy watching your videos. Thank you.
P.S. I'm not saying your doing it wrong, just offering a different way that works faster for me. I'm working on a video on scanning cars now. I'll post it sometime mid October.
Top job on the van Danny, B.A. would be proud to drive this one! Like a lot of blokes my age I was a huge fan of the show back then (I've since bought all 5 seasons on DVD too lol), kids nowdays don't know what they're missing out on.
GMC Vandura an iconic van of The A-Team
Wow. Incredible result!
The '70s and '80s were the best time ever
Awesome video!! Both because I love the A-Team but also great because you showed us how you designed the decals on your computer!
I always thought the van was solid black and red growing up but. Couple weeks ago I started watching episodes and realized it was a 2 tone paint with red great job on this
Danny, This is AWESOME! It looks 110% better. My Sidekick on my show is Ecstatic over this one!!!
Danny I've watched you restore many cars but this is the first one I've seen from one of my favorite TV shows as a kid for this to actually be The A-Team van it has to be smoke gray not black I wish they would have done something better than put the red stripe on with a sticker when they manufactured these cars
I appreciate the fact that you customized it to be more accurate to the show. I don't recall any A-Team van toy that wasn't all black.
EDIT: Looks like the Rough Riders van was silver and black though.
All toy cars was my favorite toy im 52yrs old now still love them wish i had the room i be collecting again. Van looks nice
In the UK The A-Team was in the Saturday family slot - 5:45 PM or around there.
In the USA it was originally broadcast on Tuesday nights at 8pm.
It came out really nice. Excellent work making the decals . 👍👍😊
It went from trash to treasure, beautiful 👍🏻 🔥🤘🏻
I pity the fool... who gave you a thumbs down
I love it when a plan comes together and I pitty the fool that doesn't like it lol. Great job. You took an incredibly rough casting and made it look much better than it looked new.
Oh yeah!
"I love it when a plan comes together ❤️!"
Just a couple of (few😚) things: -
The lights on the roof needed detailing.
The 2 smaller lights (spot-lights?) near the center of the grille needed to be painted in.
The "GMC" logo HAD to be painted in red (I know it was blacked out after the 1st season).
There was space for the licence plate, which coulda used a little blue paint?
A little blob of red paint to cover-up the center of the wheel axle?
And even though it's missing from the casting, maybe you coulda done sumpin' for the sun-roof?
Also,I noticed some rough edges on the passenger side window, coulda used some filing down?
I've been wondering just exactly how you get your decals the right size.
So thanks for showing us how that's done.
Very interesting!
A master at Photo Shop too, huh?
Wouldn't it have been easier to just paint in the red stripe?🤔
Come on It was a toy not a true model of the van,yes he could do that n this.
GMO-1974 Your channel has no content
WAY nicer than original!
Love your comments on how cheap ERTL are😂. I would have liked to have seen an all black van with the red stripe sprayed on and the lights detailed with white/grey paint. Also maybe tint the windows. Met face man at comic con two years ago. Such a nice guy.
very nice, good job. I love it when a plan comes together.
The A team van it is looking very good
Always loved that show . Good job on the resto
A-Team rocks. Love it, good job. AWESOME
This is my favorite to date used to have one of these as a kid, awesome finish
Well done Danny on another brilliant restoration. I was particularly impressed with the two tone paint job and the red stripe was the finishing touch. Nice for a mere mortal like me to see how it's done.
Team A's van was beautiful, greetings friend
kool , thanx Danny...rare one , nice to see it , good work
Robert
not a fan of that show, but i do like the van.someone made a real one with a clamshell side door.looked real cool,as does yours,Danny
Awesome job! The van looks great
Would have loved to see you paint the lights on the top of the van 🙂
I agree! But it's not a custom!☺✌
I miss that show.. :(
The A-Team 👍 i watched that a lot of Times back in the 80s when i was a Boy 😉 a nice Van you made 👍👍 ...
Mr. T approved this
Turned out great. The only thing I would have done is use a small file and rasp to clean on the passenger window of the excess materials from when it was originally cast
the A team, knight rider, chips, hardcastle and mccormick, simon and simon and the fall guy, all shows from my child hood, nice work on a fairly poor quality model
Let's not forget, airwolf and street hawk..
... and Magnum, P.I.!
Jayce1701 watching Magnum right now!
@@DangerousDevilOfficial Nice! Tom Selleck is the man! What a fantastic show!
I was going suggest the A Team van when I watched the last restoration top job 👍🏻
Excellent work. That wing doesn't seem right but that's not your fault its the casting but you definitely would make BA Barakus proud with that work
Good Ol'Ertl!
Looks amazing and love the wheels!!
think it needs a better base, you made the diecast part and the wheels look great...the base looks like a cheap corgi and i thought ertl was a better brand. i give it a thumbs up
I loved the A Team back then. Had the action figures, the van, and the jet. Cheap ass Galoob toys, but I didn't care!
I'd like it when you added the red rim wheels now that what makes it look like a real A-TEAM Van and Mr T would be happy.
I worked for Ertl back in the 90's for about two weeks as a temp.
Great work Danny, looks brilliant.
Love this build Danny.. Brings back a lot of memories of my youth the build.. Well done.. 👍
Nice save there buddy 🏴🇬🇧🏴😉
You have done a awesome job on a cheap toy, shame the grille is meh,but It looks like one of the stunt ones used on the show, and some versions had pull back motors inside, yours was a empty one, amazing work.
terrible moulding..but now it s much better..great work
Quite enjoyed seeing the decal making process. Loved the red wheels too. Looks great! Love it when a plan comes together. :)
great JOB! loved the photoshop part!
You made a crappy representation of the A-Team van look great. good job 👍 👍
Hot Wheels did a black van with the A-Team stripe. Not licensed and a different model van, but I still enjoyed it regardless.
Scuba128>>I remember that van you mentioned.. I think Hot Wheels made two different ones... one was the mid 1970s Ford Econoline version (the Baja breaker) and the other one was the custom Dodge van version 😀😀😀
Wow, I didn't realized till now how big were the original stickers.... You did a great job on computer. Love the vid. Cheers Danny
Fool , who said fool ! you a fool ? Me , you all fools . HAHAHAHAHA, Great work as always . Mike Espo..
Loved the a team . Great job or the restoration.
Eerie. The. A the. Van. Restoration like 👍

" What you do to my van, you crazy fool ", good job man
