      I recently participated in two pool-swim tris (300 yds and 250 yds) and swam the first length of each lap with breaststroke and the second length with freestyle. I am fairly new to swimming and am now working on doing just freestyle in the next tri in early Sept. To that end, I swam 250 yds last night with freestyle only and finished in 10 min 45 sec. I have to work on endurance first; once I feel more confident with that, I can work more on speed. Thanks for your videos, I've watched several already! P.S. Can you post a link to those goggles? They look super-cool, thanks!! 🙂

    Did my first OWS long distance swim at the weekend, did 13k on the Thames, was quite slow compared to everyone else, 4 years ago couldn’t do 200m front crawl, did the whole distance FC, I train on my own and do group lessons every week, I do a CSS test every 3 months and have seen improvements, I have found I can swim very steady without too much fatigue

    Thanks for giving me some context on that SWOLF number. I've mostly ignored it while swimming, but I'm apparently at a 34 for most of my pool swims. I'll have to try some of these other tests. Cheers!

    I love CSS tests. Do them every 4 weeks to see progress. If result is lower than before, it usually means I haven’t been swimming ss much 😅. Great content guys

    A good shave always feels “faster”. A bit like hat vs no hat.
    I’m slowly getting quicker after only learning 18 months ago. Couldn’t do 100m now I’ve done 6km nonstop.
    Every now and then some technical part clicks and I can do it without thinking. Whittling down the average pace every month.

    I think it was over at Swim Smooth, but he was talking about the SWOLF scores. Funny thing about it is that it is as variable as sweat ratios for different swimmers. Just getting the SWOLF score lower isn't the point. Getting the proper stroke rate for yourself is. It isn't easy to figure out which stroke rate is most efficient for your self. One SWOLF score may work better for you, but not for some one else.

      That’s true, just like the magic 180cadence?

    • @WILDFOXRUNNING
      @WILDFOXRUNNING Pƙed rokem

      But I think both swolf numbers and 180 cadence are just general ideal targets, one size doesn’t fit all for sure but its a good reference

    My fav test is swimming 600 mt in A2 mode. Every month I use to Swim this distance so I can check my swimming form 😉

      @@ComeCloserFishy A2 is an aerobic pace. With this pace you can swim for a long time, without getting tired 😉

    Don’t understand the 7x200 test, how could you expect to match let alone PR your 200PB on the sixth interval? What are you trying to measure here? Thanks for the video!

    #gtncoachescorner Hi guys, here is my swim related question. I swim well in a pool and in open water, I practice sighting, swim starts,... but in most triathlons starts I can’t properly get the air in and carbon dioxide out. Excitement? Freaking out a bit? Even when trying to relax and deep breath before the start it takes me 200-300meters to get the breathing rhythm. Anyway I could work on this before races? It ruins my swims quite a bit. Thanks a lot đŸ™đŸ»

    Hope this isn't a silly question!đŸ„Ž As it's something I've never tried, is it possible to do swimming pool structured workouts(Humango)in open water?(will the watch vibrate 25/100/200 MTR intervals and rests etc?.. I'm using the new Garmin 265 watch.
