would you prefer Ruby to experience the same thing as Ai? sometimes ruby's dream/happiness doesn't necessarily make ruby safe, what you say is overprotective this is what parents in asia and the middle east do, this doesn't mean parents control their daughters, they still give freedom to their daughters, but they have to be able to assume the responsibility to maintain the honor and safety of herself

And I strongly disagree, but alright bud. A character’s writing quality doesn’t just disintegrate because there’s more focus put on other characters. Ruby’s got her depth and development, so does Akane, so does Kana, so does everyone. That’s the story it is.
@@aquatazer Ruby only gets spotlight in “her arc” but even then she’s just generic. Akane and Kana gets more than Ruby by 10 folds. So her character actually disintegrates because she’s the least interesting character in the series.

@@jackjohn4156 I doubt you’re caught up on the manga, because if this is your stance after reading the newest chapters, you’re objectively interpreting Oshi no Ko incorrectly. What I said stands: a character’s writing quality doesn’t just disintegrate because there’s more focus put on other characters. I don’t see a point trying to prove that to you, I suggest you catch up on the manga instead of talking like you are. And if you are caught up, reread it.

Aqua is the most calm yet unhinged lad ever. That boy is scary because he's fueled not only by genuine care for Ruby, but also for revenge.
I feel for Aqua. He’s still hurt. He’s traumatized. He saw the life fade from his mothers eyes as she held him. Like he noted, it seems like Ruby has bounced back from Ai’s death, but Aqua is still holding onto those feelings. And he doesn’t want his sister to meet the same fate.
Aqua's been screwed by the same guy in both of his lives.
Got killed in his original life.
Then had his mother killed in front of him in his new life.
By the same dude no less.
No doubt he wants to stop at nothing to get back at the one responsible for that.
I like the older Arima Kana… I thought she’d remain haughty and stuck up, but she seemed respectful, positive, and outgoing. I love her cosmos eyes. I hope she’ll be a good influence to pull Aqua out of his darkness.
She is Aquas light, but he doesn't want to hurt her because of him diving into the darkness.
Sometimes you have to be the "bad guy" for those you love in order to properly protect them from themselves. Aqua was overstepping, yes, but after everything he has been through - and everything Ruby continues to downplay, ignore, or remain ignorant of - I absolutely get where he is coming from. Doesn't make it "right", but I definitely wouldn't vilify him for it either.
As an aside, the animation, voice acting, and music are so polished, but the characters and their dialogue especially shine. I'm blown away by how well done this show is.
I mean I think Aqua was kinda justified in his position. He wanted to protect her innocence as well as her safety. Yes, the idol industry is filled with dangers but Aqua isn’t worried about hypothetical dangers. Their killer father is still out there knowing they’re alive so what happens when Ruby draws attention to herself and looks exactly like Ai?
If someone you love got murdered but the police never caught the murderer would you let your loved ones go back to the same place especially when you know the murderer was targeting your family specifically?
I mean I totally get it. Their mom died doing the exact same thing. He just doesn’t want his sister to die.
This episode feel like buildup for the next. Amazing to see that the quality hasn’t really dropped!
I love how this episode ended catch everyone off guard, after the long first episode leave us with a taste of "I want more"

Aqua actions is understandable knowing what happened to her mother Ai I wouldn’t also let ruby go anywhere near in idol industry but Ruby has to follow her dream that’s what’s Ai also wants from her good thing that that her adoptive mother is the one who’s gonna manage Ruby career being an idol

I’m loving watching CZcamsrs react to this show because they can connect with that position of fame/influence.
some thoughts and stuff to add:
- scouting does happen like that, just cold approach on the street.
- so when idols got insanely popular after 2010, that was called the "warring idols era" for the sheer amount of groups that would come and go. eager to make any profit, any type of theme would be good to go. underground idols, also known as chika idols, or indie idols, are a way in which that momentum has continued. it's like cover bands, but with the pay and shitty management of a part-time job - on top of the risk of that job maybe even being meant to scam you as the employee.
- what that one idol said is pretty spot-on. there's an interview that joey/the anime man did with a former jpop idol that came to mind - incidentally, only coworker of hers who went anywhere big was kiara takahashi.
yes it's okay to still be in his parent's house. especially if his mother is alone aging old lady. sometimes aging parents get lonely without the company of the children, it is really miserable. and we can see she still full a lot of energy, because she feels young to still have to take care of her son.
and at least he has a good job and making a good money, (I think he's a good man who help to pay the bills) and not unemployed that wasting his parents wealth.

If you notice Ai's eyes are purple with star in each eye her children in each opposite eye have a star in them and if you combine them it makes purple. So it shows that they are 1/2 of her. If you noticed when Ai died the light in her eyes faded it was so sad.

I didn't read the manga so if my guess ends up to be correct, it wasn't a spoiler, but what I guess is that Aqua finds the dad, kills him and then it will turn out he didn't had anything to do with the murders. And yeah I'm just guessing that just because that would be the worst case scenario I can think of and I have a feeling that this anime won't have many happy endings.

Maybe, he basically became a father figure to them as well. Him being that secret father seems impossible, though who knows if he does have connection to them somehow. Though I feel like he was a really good person.
