  • Harley-Davidson Badlander Seat: Part #52000300
    I have this seat fitted on my 2108 FXBB Street Bob.
    This Harley-Davidson seat doesn't have promising reviews on the H-D website however over-all I have found it good for my needs. It is an inexpensive seat with a simple style. I find it comfortable on longer trips with the forward controls fitted but it is definitely not a touring seat for a passenger. I like the clean sweeping line of the seat.

    I looked at that seat on Harley Davidson's website and it got bad reviews so I wanted to find a review on Utube. There's maybe a couple and after seeing your review I think I'm gonna get one. Nice vid.

      It definitely is now. I'm not young enough or agile enough anymore for the 'up on the haunches' riding position. 'Bad-boy cruiser' style all the way :)

    I had the same type of movement in an HD seat on my 2009 Nightster....I went with an aftermarket Mustang seat and it fit extremely well with no more movement in the front....be mindful of that movement as the seat breaks in as it could get worse and damage the paint on your tank or worse yet slip out of the fitting as mine did....take care...ride on brother.

    first video to pop on the badlander review search! congrats on that. i know youve upgraded since. but for the price... I am contemplating this one. did Mrs ride on the back? how comfy is it for the passenger?

    • @MisterKiwiRider
      @MisterKiwiRider  Před 4 lety +1

      This seat is definitely better than the stock one and is probably about a 3 hour seat in terms of comfort. It is quite firm but what it lacks in cushioning it makes up for in it's shape, in that it conforms better to your ass. The passenger section is firm and I would call it adequate at best. Our daughter could ride for maybe 45 minutes before she'd need a stop. It's a good seat for the price and gives a nice line to the bike.

    I enjoyed your video, thank you for the info. I was surprised by the little bit of side movement of the seat, not sure I like the movement. Shouldn’t if fit snug to ensure your safety while riding?

    • @MisterKiwiRider
      @MisterKiwiRider  Před 5 lety

      Thanks for your feedback. To clarify the movement is slight, but I felt it was important to mention for a complete review. I would still describe the seat as fitting snuggly. When the front is clipped in and the rear seat bolt is in place the seat is quite secure.

  • @hellydavidson7598

    know you have a different seat now. But was or is there a solution to attach the front loose part to the tank?

    • @MisterKiwiRider
      @MisterKiwiRider  Před rokem +1

      Not that I saw. I didn't really investigate much though. It's just a heavy plastic clip that sits under a tab. I guess you could pack it with some tape to stop the movement 👍

    • @MisterKiwiRider
      @MisterKiwiRider  Před 5 lety

      Yes, pillion seat isnt good for passengers. At the end of the day I find the profile looks good and it gives me somewhere to sit my pack that's off the fender.

  • @DirtyDeez

  • @Petrolhead66

    I have a 2018 Softail Slim and the problem I have with std seat, which looks very similar to the Street Bob seat, is my ass wants to ride over the lip at the back. In fact a pal of mine was following me and asked if I had piles as was shuffling about all the time :) So just wondering if the Badlander seat gived you more support and the back lip looks taller?

    • @MisterKiwiRider
      @MisterKiwiRider  Před 5 lety

      That's the common problem with that stock seat. I had the same issue. Yes, the Badlander does fix the issue as its stops you sliding back. I found it to be a good choice for a reasonably comfortable and secure seat at a mid price point.

  • @ronwissinger2678
    @ronwissinger2678 Před 5 lety

    How do you like the feel of the drag style bars compared to the stock bars " I'm thinking of going that direction

    • @MisterKiwiRider
      @MisterKiwiRider  Před 5 lety

      I really like the look and feel of the lower wide bars. I did find that it put my body slightly further forward and prompted me to fit forward foot controls so that my hips weren't on quite such an overt angle, which caused some hip fatigue.

    • @MisterKiwiRider
      @MisterKiwiRider  Před 4 lety

      If you're looking for passenger comfort for a prolonged period of time this isn't the seat you'd want. It's utilitarian at best. I liked it more for the fact that my bags had something to sit on that wasn't straight on the fender 👍

      @@OutbackOutlaw 😂 I see! Yes, a fellow Kiwi motovlogger also hazed me for using the term 'fender'. At the end of the day the bike was built in the USA. So it was literally a fender before it arrived here and became a mudguard 😉👍
